The Herzog-Vasconcelos conjecture for affine semigroup rings

Let S be a simplicial affine semigroup such that its semigroup ring A = k[S] is Buchsbaum. We prove for such A the Herzog-Vasconcelos conjecture: If the A-module Der(k)A of k-linear derivations of A has finite projective dimension then it is free and hence A is a polynomial ring by the well known graded case of the Zariski-Lipman conjecture.

Physicality, difference, and the challenge of representation: Werner Herzog in the Light of the new waves

This chapter looks into the gap between presentational realism and the representation of physical experience in Werner Herzog's work so as to retrieve the indexical trace ��� or the absolute materiality of death. To that end, it draws links between Herzog and other directors akin to realism in its various forms, including surrealism. In particular, it focuses on Fran��ois Truffaut and Glauber Rocha, representing respectively the Nouvelle Vague and the Cinema Novo, whose works had a decisive weight on Herzog���s aesthetic choices to the point of originating distinct phases of his outputs. The analyses, though restricted to a small number of films, intends to re-evaluate Herzog���s position within, and contribution to, film history.

Characterization of flavonoids and naphthopyranones in methanol extracts of Paepalanthus chiquitensis herzog by HPLC-ESI-IT-MSn and their mutagenic activity

A HPLC-ESI-IT-MSn method, based on high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray negative ionization multistage ion trap mass spectrometry, was developed for rapid identification of 24 flavonoid and naphthopyranone compounds. The methanol extracts of the capitulae and scapes of P. chiquitensis exhibited mutagenic activity in the Salmonella/microsome assay, against strain TA97a. �� 2013 by the authors.

Die Zeit der P��dagogik. Zeitperspektiven im erziehungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs. Festschrift f��r Walter Herzog

Zeit ist in der ��ffentlichen Diskussion ��ber Erziehung eine konstitu tive Bestimmung. Dabei wird sie sehr unterschiedlich gefasst: Erziehung wird verstanden als ein Prozess, der zeitlich konsekutiv geordnet werden muss. Es wird aber auch von einer Erziehungszeit der Eltern gesprochen und von der Schulzeit im Lebenslauf. Unterricht und Didaktik verlangen von den Lehrpersonen ein Zeitmanagement. ��ber Schulanfang, Schul ende und Dauer der Schulzeit wird politisch debattiert. Aber weit dar ��ber hinaus werden Erziehung und Bildung selbst zum Instrument, mit dem in der Gegenwart die Zukunft, die Zeit des einzelnen Menschen und sogar der ganzen Gesellschaft berechenbar werden sollen. Trotz dieser Zentralit��t der Dimension ��Zeit�� ist die theoretische Diskussion dar��ber wenig entwickelt. Der vorliegende Band diskutiert aus soziologischen, p��dagogisch-psychologischen und historischen Perspektiven die Zeit dimensionen von Erziehung.
