It was sketched by Union General John White Geary, Oct. 21st, 1862. Scale not given. Covers Harpers Ferry region, West Virginia, including portions of Loudoun County, Virginia, Frederick and Washington Counties, Maryland, and Jefferson County, West Virginia. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Virginia State Plane North Coordinate System (in Meters) (Fipszone 4501). All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, or other information associated with the principal map. Reconnaissance of the geology and ground-water resources of Columbia County, Florida

The Floridan aquifer was found to be principal source of ground water in the area, containing artesian water in the northern part of Columbia County, and being recharged in the southern part of the county. A few wells in the northern part of the county tap water present in sediments that lie above the Floridan aquifer. These shallow waters are generally high in iron and tannic acid. The details on the geology and hydrology necessary to conserve and utilize the water available to the residents of Columbia County are presented in this study. (PDF contains 86 pages)

The letter was intended to communicate to Dexter D’Everado, Supt. Of Niagara District Schools, that School Section No. 6 in the Township of Bertie had elected school trustees on 12 January 1847. The trustees were Thomas Shedding, Luke Lee and Frederick Sager, Chairman.
