Descreve as alternativas energéticas que se colocam para mitigar boa parte das emissões de gases de efeito estufa (GEE) do planeta. Enfatiza o potencial para o uso mais eficiente da energia em todos os setores da economia e nas oportunidade de substituição de combustíveis fósseis por combustíveis renováveis. Ressalta a importância de mudança de hábitos de consumo para reduzir as emissões de GEE a níveis considerados seguros, de maneira a se estabilizarem as concentrações de gases na atmosfera em níveis suficientemente baixos.

Actually the energy efficiency is making more space in the industry, due to the search for the sustainability, the electrical energy costs reduction, the goals achievement or the efficiency of production processes. In consumer goods industries, such a beverage industry, as the work is based, the productivity is directly related to the electrical energy consumption. The development of methodologies and/or routines, in addition to some tools which allow to align more efficiently these two aspects (production and consumption of electrical energy), in the viewpoint of the Energy Conservation, is very important. In this case, the study will show the Plant Modulation concepts, a production management methodology, based in some factors related to the productive process, installed equipment, production supplies and energy cost. The proposed methodology was implanted in a plant along 2015 and show the results, in face to confirm its efficiency. Finally, in this study, it was shown the capacity of Plant Modulation to positively impact in the energy efficiency inside a big industry

As perspectivas do mercado internacional de biocombustíveis colocam o Brasil como grande protagonista na difusão da utilização do etanol, produzido a partir da cana-de-açúcar, graças à sua competitividade e às crescentes preocupações relacionadas ao aquecimento global. Para que se possa conduzir esse processo, é preciso, necessariamente, cuidar da estratégia para a sustentabilidade da matriz energética brasileira, que serve de exemplo para os outros países. As constantes oscilações nos preços do etanol combustível, a carga tributária e a falta de tratamento equânime nas unidades da federação são fatores que podem ser considerados críticos para a expansão da demanda interna do etanol. Nesse sentido, as recentes modificações introduzidas na regulamentação da produção e comercialização do etanol combustível buscam a redução da volatilidade de preços, a flexibilidade na oferta do produto e a criação de ambiente que permita aos produtores de etanol a proteção do seu fluxo de caixa nos mercados futuros da BM&FBovespa. A carga tributária é fator motivador para a adulteração e para a manutenção da evasão fiscal. A evolução do tratamento tributário, independentemente da redução da carga tributária, indica que, a exemplo do que ocorre na tributação da gasolina, a centralização nos produtores, nas cooperativas e na empresa de comercialização de etanol, é o passo necessário para a redução da adulteração e da evasão fiscal que ainda são encontradas nesse segmento.

The steady increase in the price of oil and its derivatives, carbon credits, the concern with the environment combined with the precipitation of rain water and lack of water resources that Brazil has suffered in 2014 caused a migration of participation sources of energy in the Brazilian energy matrix. The hydropower sector suffered big drop at 2013 and is suffering so far, contributing thus to the generation and cogeneration of thermal energy using renewable energy sources such as: sugarcane bagasse, wood chips, rice husks, among others. The selling price of the electricity market reached the level of R$ 807, 00 MWh in January 2014 (Source: ANEEL), heating the Brazilian thermoelectric sector. Although thermoelectric use in bulk water as vaporizing fluid to produce electricity and use in various processes, water reuse plans have become an important factor in these industries. The increased use of biomass has been the bagasse which is allied to the sugarcane sector, strong market in Brazil, and consists basically use the rest of sugar cane, sugarcane industries that would play out. The sugar and ethanol industry is very unstable and only lasts for 6-8 months a year, and the remaining time in the period known as between crop that corresponds to the planting and harvesting of sugarcane and then enter the period of vintage which is the constant cane harvesting and crushing it. This instability of the market and the thermoelectric idle period leads the thermoelectric industries to seek other sources of renewable energy, such as wood chips (pine, Eucalyptus, Orange), rice husk, sorghum among others, to not be dependent on alcohol sector.
