Tendo presente a relação que o discurso estabelece com a sociedade como um todo, este artigo procura analisar o modo como a monarquia britânica representou o segundo casamento do Príncipe Carlos e o modo como os media construíram os relatos do acontecimento desde 10 de Fevereiro a 9 de Abril de 2005 relativamente a assuntos mais vastos, como sejam as relações de poder, as estruturas económicas dos jornais e a cultura popular. Foi dada particular relevância aos aspectos multifuncionais do discurso (por exemplo, as funções ideacional, interpessoal e textual), o que requer uma leitura contextualizada de um duplo processo de mediação: por um lado, a organização da cerimónia levada a cabo pelo Palácio de St. James e a sua subsequente estratégia para atingir um fechamento monológico e, por outro, as representações discursivas da imprensa britânica, abertas a uma polifonia de vozes e a vários enquadramentos discursivos.

Bearing in mind the relationship between discourse and society at large, this article addresses the way the British monarchy represented Charles’s second marriage and the way the media constructed their accounts in the period from 10 February (announcement) until 9 April 2005 (wedding) in relation to wider issues such as power relations, newspaper economic structures and popular culture. Particular attention is paid to the multifunctional features of discourse (i.e. its ideational, interpersonal and textual functions), which requires a contextualized reading of a dual process of mediation: on the one hand, the staging of the ceremony by St. James’s Palace and its strategy for attaining monologic closure and, on the other hand, discursive representations by the British press open to a polyphony of voices and discursive frames

This doctoral thesis investigate the way vestibulandos and pré-vestibulandos construct their discursive representations of Ficar and Namorar in their textual production. At the same time, aims to discuss its implications for the ATD and for the teaching and learning of textual production in the context of Portuguese Language classes. Its theoretical framework is inspired mainly by three sources: textual linguistics, the textual analysis of discourses (ADAM, 2008), as well as by frames semantics (FILLMORE, 2006; FELTES, 2007). The methodology is based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches (VIANNA et al., 2008). The data is composed of 168 empirical texts written by the vestibulandos of PSV/2005 da UFRN, Natal, RN, and by secondary school students who attended Escola Estadual Juscelino Kubitschek (EEJK), Assú, in the 2008 school year. The results indicate different categories of discursive representations of Ficar and Namorar , such as designation of referents, prediction, aspectualization, spatial-temporal circunstances , and metaphor, which reveal the influence of factors such as: the encyclopedic knowledge, the culture, as well as the cognitive components related to textual production. These results point out to the necessity of a teaching practice which enables the interaction among students, the discussion of current themes, as well as the student involvement with different textual genres, mainly the work with textual production in the classroom, so that it enables the students do acquire the textual production strategies. Thus, the overall goal is the (re)construction of their discursive representations, so that they can cope with new contexts of communicative interaction.

According to the studies in Applied Linguistics, this thesis is based on an interdisciplinary perspective (Critical Discourse Analysis, Sociology towards Social Change, Cultural Studies and Systemic-Functional Linguistics). The overall objective of the research was to analyze the discourses of Elementary School teachers in the state of Sergipe, by means of the discursive representations of the social actors, the processes of subjectivity and their fragmented identities in the context of standardized evaluations before the requirements of globalized pedagogical practices, based on the result-based management. The critical analysis of such discourses was motivated by the rapid pace with which the demands of innovation become part of the classroom, aiming at reaching the target in what concerns the indexes of the rankings which characterize the globalized discourse of the national education management, like Ideb (Basic Education Development Index), which makes teachers change their discourses, become silent or keep resistant. The work was initially endorsed by the theoretical lines of the Critical Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001, 2006), and poses a proposal for such purpose: the ASCD Discourse Sociological and Communicative Approach (PEDROSA, 2012, 2013). This is an interpretative-qualitative study of the Critical Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001, 2003; RAMALHO ; RESENDE, 2011) and to carry it out, semi-structured interviews were used as instruments of data generation (BAUER; GASKELL, 2011; GILL, 2011). Its corpus is composed of thirteen accounts of teachers from the Elementary school who teach Portuguese and work in the fifteen schools which were chosen to be the universe of the research at the Regional Board of Education (02) in the state of Sergipe. Such narratives are related to their impressions, expectations and actions which favor the management of results to which they have to submit themselves. The analytical overview of sociological and discursive line comes from the pan-semiotic categories (Inclusion and Exclusion) which appear in the theory of Representation of Social Actors (VAN LEEUWEN, 1997, 2008). To present the processes of subjectivity of these teachers, this work is based on the socio-analytical proposal of the classification of the subjects, which stems from the individual s work in the Gestão Relacional de Si , which comes from the Applied Sociology (towards) Social Change (BAJOIT, 2006, 2009). The discursive analyses were guided word for word, in their majority, by having the Systemic Functional Grammar as their theoretical basis, specifically by the processes of the Transitivity System postulated by Halliday, (1985); Halliday and Mathiessen, (2004); Eggins (2004); Cunha and Souza (2011). The work makes the field of Cultural Studies emerge towards the dialogue and the presentation of the fragmented identities of the teachers in the context of late modernity (GIDDENS, 2002; HALL, 2011). The thesis promoted a reflection over the teacher s condition, who is immerse in this context of knowledge construction of the present Brazilian educational system, the standardized evaluations, the indexes of development, the targets and the rankings. The considerations and outcomes of such a research dealt with the teachers emerging social practices and the need of planned initial and continuing teacher education towards the new moment which is foreseeable

At the middle of the twentieth century, between the forties and the fi fties, especially after the Second World War, the endless debate concerning national identity was taken up again in Latin America with a new focus. Mass culture, especially popular music with ties to the music industry, was shaped by its great capacity to spreadshown through its assorted forms of production, circulation and consumption- as one of the main areas of dispute related to the question of what is considered to be national. During that period there were important debates in Brazil and Chile about the selection, preservation and perpetuation of a certain repertoire of popular urban music as being representative of national folk music. These debates, which are analyzed starting from discursive representations driven by the written press, in both the specialized academic and the large-circulation press, constitute the central focus of this article.

Este artículo se propone indagar acerca de las representaciones discursivas en el campo de memoria que se presentan en La casa de los conejos de Laura Alcoba. Se cree que la elección del género de la autoficción es una herramienta genérica que permite descubrir nuevas narrativas mnémicas en torno al enfrentamiento desigual entre Montoneros y las fuerzas represivas de la derecha. Estas novedosas maneras de ver el pasado se vinculan con lo que Ricoeur ha denominado 'trabajo de memoria', una elaboración terapéutica sobre el recuerdo que permite a un pueblo abrirse hacia la esperanza y el perdón

El eje de este trabajo aborda la representación de algunos cuerpos travestidos y desestabilizadores en la literatura latinoamericana a partir de los años 90: es decir, la articulación de estos cuerpos y ficciones como dispositivo de producción de sentidos y representaciones políticas, sociales, culturales y discursivas, como por ejemplo en las novelas, Salón de belleza (Mario Bellatin), Sirena Selena vestida de pena (Mayra Santos Febres), El rey de la Habana (Pedro Juan Gutiérrez) o Tengo miedo torero (Pedro Lemebel), entre otras. No se trata de darle a la literatura un estatuto realista -como reflejo de una realidad social-, sino de explorar cuáles son los modos de esta construcción que conviven, ya sea complementándose o disgregándose de los modelos sociales y culturales más amplios que circulan en la sociedad

A premissa do estudo compreende a existência de forças de poder nos retratos sobre o Islã no jornalismo internacional. Sabe-se que o Islã, em termos culturais e políticos, apresenta maior visibilidade a partir dos atos de 11 de setembro de 2001. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa entende que esse momento desempenha, na história, um fenômeno político de forte impacto e significação ideológica. Como objeto de análise, o estudo aborda as representações discursivas (Análise de Discurso) e as interconexões com (e do) Islã na Folha de S. Paulo e no Estado de S. Paulo, tendo por corpus o material publicado pelos jornais, na Editoria Internacional, nos 15 dias anteriores e posteriores à data que marcou, historicamente, os 10 anos do ataque às Torres Gêmeas. A tese também faz um inventário histórico-cultural da formação do Oriente Moderno e do Islã, da construção do Diferente na história e do Outro-Islã, além do resgate do jornalismo internacional. Observou-se, nas generalizações e nas simplificações das representações do Islã da mídia analisada, um retrato aproximado das ações dos fundamentalistas islâmicos, instruindo o contexto complexo do Islã como o Outro, o Diferente da história atual, denegando a ele suas atribuições culturais de autenticidade e de alteridade.

This piece of research aims to address the issue on the construction and reconstruction of Câmara Cascudo´s discursive representations in Mário de Andrade´s discourse. In order to describe, analyze and interpret these representations, we recur to some semantic categories from the Discourse Textual Analysis (DTA) by articulating them with other categories, notably, Grize´s Logic (1996,1997), Text Linguistics and Semantics. Therefore, the purpose is to analyze how these representations are constructed discursively, in written letters, by means of semantic categories such as referentiation, predication, modification, connection and spatial and temporal locations. In the theoretical foundation, proposals of Textual Analysis of Discourses, conceived by the linguist Jean-Michel Adam (1990, 2008a, 2011a), Text Linguistics, Semantics and Logic, focusing, especially, on the phenomenon of discursive representations, are articulated. The research approach is of qualitative nature supported by some quantitative data (OLIVEIRA, 2012); option which makes the analysis richer and comprehensive. As a hypothesis, it is presented the fact that these categories used by Mário de Andrade, in his discourse, do not only enable the (re)construction of the interlocutor´s images, discursively constructed, but they also provide a multiplicity of information and viewpoints about the RN writer´s personality. The study corpus is constituted of 20 texts written by Mário de Andrade and sent to Câmara Cascudo between 1924 and 1944, of which 35 fragments were selected and analyzed. However, it can be verified that, in the analyzed corpus, a set of discursive representations is constructed for Câmara Cascudo, from semantic categories proposed for analysis and used in Mário de Andrade´s discourse. These categories enable to construct and reconstruct the representations that emerge in the texts. Therefore, the analysis points out the construction of a set of different representations, highlighting the representation of the writer, the intellectual and the friend.
