Sobre as causas naturais que formam a base empírica do fenômeno dos turbilhões nas cosmogonias : dos pré-socráticos a René Descartes

Neste trabalho é apresentado um possível fundamento empírico para as teorias dos turbilhões que figuram em praticamente todas as teorias cosmogônicas dos pré-socráticos e mesmo presentes nas teorias de pensadores modernos como René Descartes e C. Huyghens.

És una anàlisi sobre el problema del coneixement als segles XVII (racionalisme) i XVIII (empirisme) i la seva influència en l'epistemologia contemporània. En concret, es comparen les teories del coneixement de René Descartes i de David Hume, es demostra la seva vigència al segle XXI i es proposa una aplicació extrafilosòfica al seu pensament.

Frente a interpretaciones estandarizadas, el presente trabajo pretende poner de relieve elmomento de trascendencia del cogito, acudiendo al concepto de 'naturaleza' y a la noción de 'lenguaje'. Destácase la importancia del concepto de 'encarnación' como idea clave para la constitución del 'hombre verdadero', así como su dimensión intersubjetiva.

Descartes wears Converse: Liberal Arts for the Twenty-First Century Student

Students today have a different way of relating to information due to the new media channels that have arisen in the last decades. These have changed the way high-school and undergraduate students learn and they have altered the manner by which they perceive the world. Today’s Education Theory must take this fact into account in order to enhance the student’s learning process. The objective of this project is to give an example of how this enhancement may be achieved. First, it will give a brief overview of the relation between today’s young generations and the different channels of information; secondly, it will analyze the cognitive, psychological and educational theories that explain how the human brain learns and the important value that nonverbal information has for the memory system; afterwards, it will focus on this nonverbal information, looking at the possible effects that it may have on human memory and learning; finally, it will give an example of the practical implementation of this theory through the presentation of three animated instructional videos that have been created with the specific aim of enhancing the young generation’s understanding of some complex subjects of the Liberal Arts.

Viabilidade da utilização de descartes de produção de uvas sem sementes para elaboração de passas

A região do Vale do São Francisco destaca-se na produção de uvas de mesa, com incrementos cada vez maiores na produção de cultivares sem sementes. A fim de evitar perdas e aumentar a renda do produtor, torna-se necessário o desenvolvimento de tecnologias para o aproveitamento do excedente da produção de forma economicamente viável. Considerando-se a dependência do Brasil ao mercado externo em uva-passa, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a viabilidade da elaboração de passas a partir das cultivares sem sementes Sultanina, Catalunha, Superior Seedless e Crimson Seedless produzidas no norte de Minas Gerais. As passas foram analisadas quanto ao teor de umidade, sólidos solúveis totais (SST), acidez total titulável (ATT), pH, açúcares redutores e diâmetros longitudinal e transversal, e os resultados, comparados com o produto chileno adquirido no comércio local. As passas das cultivares produzidas nesta região apresentaram maior tamanho e composição semelhante ao produto importado. As passas de 'Crimson Seedless' apresentaram teor significativamente maior de umidade após 20h de secagem, enquanto Catalunha e Sultanina se destacaram quanto aos teores de SST, ATT e açúcares redutores. Os resultados obtidos indicam que a produção de passas é viável tecnicamente, porém trabalhos complementares são necessários para avaliar a viabilidade econômica deste processo.

True believers: the recption of Descartes's meditations by Malebranche and Huet

Both Nicholas Malebranche and Pierre-Daniel Huet were at first positively influenced by Descartes's Meditations, and both came to perceive shortcomings in that work. With respect to mind-body dualism, Malebranche attempted to strengthen Descartes's position by jettisoning clarity and distinctness basing it instead on a principle of intentionality. Huet jettisoned the whole position in favor of skepticism. The source of their different responses lay in their different estimations of Descartes's integrity.
