The purpose of this project is to analyse and evaluate if the rural tourism cottage Quinta dos I’s will be profitable within the first five years of operation. It starts with a brief description of the business, followed by an industry analysis of the rural tourism market in Portugal and an intensive competitor analysis to evaluate Quinta dos I’s’ competitive advantages. The project then defines a marketing plan to generate awareness and establish the cottage in the market. Finally, a financial analysis is performed to examine the outcome of Quinta dos I’s’ recommended strategic activities. The results of this project show that the cottage is profitable after the first year of operation and expects to grow annually.

La realidad actual de las empresas colombianas, incluye un reto importante, los vigentes Tratados de Libre Comercio, que pueden convertirse en una amenaza u oportunidad para las empresas nacionales. Es por ello, que el presente documento, describe la investigación, resultados y recomendaciones consecuentes al programa de consultoría realizado junto al Centro de Innovación y Desarrollo Empresarial (CIDEM) de la Universidad del Rosario y sus consultores expertos, para apoyar y preparar Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas como Inversiones Sanco, a enfrentarse a las nuevas oportunidades de negocio, que representa el Tratado de Libre Comercio con Estados Unidos, a través de recomendaciones y planes de mejora que la empresa puede implementar y que buscan aumentar su nivel competitividad para enfrentarse a sus competidores nacionales y extranjeros.

Assessment of a consultation-liaison psychiatry and psychology health care program

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relevance of subjective criteria adopted by a psychiatry and psychology consultation-liaison service, and their suitability in the evaluation of case registries and objective results. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted and all supervisors of the university hospital service were interviewed. Routinely collected case registries were also reviewed. Standardized assessment with content analysis for each category was carried out. RESULTS: The results showed distortions in the adopted service focus (doctor-patient relationship) and consultant requests. This focus is more on consulting physician-oriented interventions than on patients. DISCUSSION: Evaluation of the relevance of service criteria could help promoting quality assessment of the services provided, mainly when objective criteria have not yet been established to assure their suitability.

The purpose of this project was to diagnose and estimate the possible value to add to the current loyalty program of Galp and to explore possible redefinitions to the loyalty approach. In order to do that it was performed a deep benchmarking about the company, exhaustive research on the existent data about loyalty and loyalty programs, new data mining with quantitative and qualitative analysis, exploratory market research and ideation sessions. Based on all the work developed, a group of five changes of paradigm were suggested through structured and innovative ideas to answer the challenge proposed.

The focus of this paper is to outline the main structure of an alternative solution to implement a Software Process Improvement program in Small-Settings using the outsourcing infrastructure. Palmetto Sites Program 2016 Program Overview

The South Carolina Department of Commerce has initiated the Palmetto Sites Program. During the Palmetto Sites Program, participants will be asked to gather data on the property’s availability, developability, zoning, transportation, and utility infrastructure among other items. Having this information is critical in order to be competitive, and to quickly and accurately respond to requests for proposals. Palmetto Site is a property in which the applicant has accumulated substantial data about the property’s characteristics and infrastructure in order to effectively respond to information requests for industrial projects.

Undulatory Physical Resistance Training Program Increases Maximal Strength In Elderly Type 2 Diabetics.

To investigate the effects of a specific protocol of undulatory physical resistance training on maximal strength gains in elderly type 2 diabetics. The study included 48 subjects, aged between 60 and 85 years, of both genders. They were divided into two groups: Untrained Diabetic Elderly (n=19) with those who were not subjected to physical training and Trained Diabetic Elderly (n=29), with those who were subjected to undulatory physical resistance training. The participants were evaluated with several types of resistance training's equipment before and after training protocol, by test of one maximal repetition. The subjects were trained on undulatory resistance three times per week for a period of 16 weeks. The overload used in undulatory resistance training was equivalent to 50% of one maximal repetition and 70% of one maximal repetition, alternating weekly. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences (p<0.05) between pre-test and post-test over a period of 16 weeks. The average gains in strength were 43.20% (knee extension), 65.00% (knee flexion), 27.80% (supine sitting machine), 31.00% (rowing sitting), 43.90% (biceps pulley), and 21.10% (triceps pulley). Undulatory resistance training used with weekly different overloads was effective to provide significant gains in maximum strength in elderly type 2 diabetic individuals.

PENCALC: a program for penetrance estimation in autosomal dominant diseases

We present a computer program developed for estimating penetrance rates in autosomal dominant diseases by means of family kinship and phenotype information contained within the pedigrees. The program also determines the exact 95% credibility interval for the penetrance estimate. Both executable (PenCalc for Windows) and web versions (PenCalcWeb) of the software are available. The web version enables further calculations, such as heterozygosity probabilities and assessment of offspring risks for all individuals in the pedigrees. Interactive Brazilian program to prevent eating disorders behaviors: a pilot study

During a four month scholarly leave in United States of America, researchers designed a culturally appropriate prevention program for eating disorders (ED) for Brazilian adolescent girls. The program "Se Liga na Nutrição" was modeled on other effective programs identified in a research literature review and was carried out over eleven interactive sessions. It was positively received by the adolescents who suggested that it be part of school curricula. The girls reported that it helped them to develop critical thinking skills with regards to sociocultural norms about body image, food and eating practices
