Successor to the "Répertoire des ventes publiques cataloguées" which began as a weekly (irregular, quarto) in January 1894. Beginning with October 1895 (3 année) a new series of the Répertoire was inaugurated, with subtitle "Revue biblio-iconographique" 3e année-2e série, which ran until January 1897 (middle of "4 année") when the present series was started (cover of volume 1 no. 1 reading: 4e année. 1897. 3e série. N1̊; t.-p. of volumes 1-2 reading; 3e série. 1re-2e année) This still retained the "Répertoire des ventes" (on tinted paper) as supplement.
