Comportamiento agroindustrial de diez variedades de caña de azúcar (Saccharum spp. híbridos) Ingenio Benjamín zeledón: caña planta

Se estudió el comportamiento agro-industrial de 9 cultivares de caña de azúcar (ja. 64-19, Q. 75, C.87-51, B62-163, B.62-118 B41-227, Db.661-133, Db.51-362, D. 158-41 y un testigo L-68-90) L apuntación se realizó sobre un suelo de textura franca el 27 de mayo de 1987, ejecutándose la cosecha de caña planta a los 12 meses de edad el 26 de Mayo de 1988. El diseño estadístico empleado fue el de bloques completos al azar con cinco repeticiones: se tomaron como criterio de evaluación los parámetros: germinación, población, altura, peso de los tallos, rendimiento agrícola, industrial y agro-industrial. Los resultados obtenidos se sometieron a análisis de varianza y posteriormente a la prueba de Newman-Keuls al 5 % de probabilidad. Las variedades que mostraron mejor comportamiento en el rendimiento agrícola fueron la Q.75, D.158-41 y la Ja. 64-19. Mientras que en el rendimiento azucarero se destacaron la Ja. 64-19, B.62-118 y B.41-127. Sobresaliendo en el rendimiento agro-industrial los genotipos Q.75, Ja. 64-19 y D.158-41.

Comportamiento agro –industrial de 10 cultivares de caña de azúcar (sacharum spp. híbrido). Ing. Benjamín Zeledón. Caña planta y 1er retoño Autor: Reynaldo J Calderón Mena. En los ciclos 86/87 y 87/88 en el ingenio Benjamín Zeledón, fue estudiado el comportamiento agro-industrial de nueve cultivares de caña de azúcar en comparación con la variedad L 68-90, el ensayo fue sembrado el 26 de marzo de 1986 en suelos francos de la serie Buenos Aires y su cosecha se realizó en cañas de 12 meses de edad el 10 de Marzo de 1987 y el 14 de marzo de 1988, en los ciclos de caña planta y el primer retoño respectivamente: El diseño utilizado fue el de bloques completos al azar y los parámetros estudiados fueron: población,. Altura, peso promedio de los tallos, rendimiento agrícola, rendimiento industrial, rendimiento agro-industrial y % de floración: los datos obtenidos fueron sometidos a análisis de varianza y a las pruebas de Newman Keuls y Dunnett ambas al 5% de significación: en el ciclo de caña planta los mejores comportamientos fueron obtenidos: en el rendimiento agrícola por las variedades Q 75 y DB 66-113; en el rendimiento agro-industrial por la variedad testigo L68-90 y en el rendimiento agro-industrial por las variedades q 75, Db 66-113, DB 51-362 y B62-118; mientras que en el ciclo de primer retoño los resultados más sobresalientes fueron obtenidos : en el rendimiento agrícola por las variedades B 62- 163, b6-118, DB66-113D 51-362, q75 Y C87-51; en el rendimiento agro- industrial por las variedad B62-118, B62-163, Db51-362, Db 66-113 y C87-51.

Benjamín Palencia (1894-1980) : guía didáctica.

La presente guía didáctica se ha elaborado pensando en el alumnado de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria del área de Ciencias Sociales, Geografía e Historia y de Educación Plástica y Visual, y para el alumnado de Historia del Arte de Bachillerato. Los objetivos que se plantean son los siguientes: A) Valorar el patrimonio artístico, B) Apreciar el hecho artístico, C) Expresarse con actitud creativa, D) Valorar el esfuerzo que supone el proceso creativo, E) Conocer la aportación de los artistas españoles a las vanguardias del siglo XX, F) Visualizar la obra de arte en el museo y G) Analizar el papel de la crítica de arte. La guía consta de fichas de actividades (basadas en la obra de Benjamín Palencia), textos de este pintor, datos de artístas contemporáneos y un breve glosario.

Quality of life, sense of coherence and levels of sedentarism of faculty and staff from the Presb��tero Benjamín Núnez, U.N.A.

The aim of this study was to analyze the quality of life of faculty and staff of the Presb��tero Benjamín Núñez Campus of Universidad Nacional (UNA, Costa Rica) as well as to assess the influence of two factors, sense of coherence and physical exercise, in the quality of life of the subjects.  A group of 37 faculty members and 30 staff members participated in the study.  The SF-36 Questionnaire, the Sense of Coherence Scale, and a survey to measure physical exercise habits were used.  In general, results showed a relatively good quality of life and similar scores were found in the Sense of Coherence Scale.  Additionally, significant connections were found between certain factors related to sense of coherence and quality of life.  Data confirmed that persons who practice physical exercise have a better quality of life than those who are not physically active.  It was concluded that, although quality of life and sense of coherence were relatively good, new proposals must be designed and implemented to improve both aspects.  In this sense, physical exercise proved to be one of the pillars in the development of innovative proposals aimed at bettering health in university employees, all of this within the “Healthy Universities” concept.

The S.T.A.B. Trial - Standardised Testing of Artificial Blood. A comparative study of various products that may be used as artificial blood for high fidelity simulation training in the critical care setting

Aim: In the current climate of medical education, there is an ever-increasing demand for and emphasis on simulation as both a teaching and training tool. The objective of our study was to compare the realism and practicality of a number of artificial blood products that could be used for high-fidelity simulation. Method: A literature and internet search was performed and 15 artificial blood products were identified from a variety of sources. One product was excluded due to its potential toxicity risks. Five observers, blinded to the products, performed two assessments on each product using an evaluation tool with 14 predefined criteria including color, consistency, clotting, and staining potential to manikin skin and clothing. Each criterion was rated using a five-point Likert scale. The products were left for 24 hours, both refrigerated and at room temperature, and then reassessed. Statistical analysis was performed to identify the most suitable products, and both inter- and intra-rater variability were examined. Results: Three products scored consistently well with all five assessors, with one product in particular scoring well in almost every criterion. This highest-rated product had a mean rating of 3.6 of 5.0 (95% posterior Interval 3.4-3.7). Inter-rater variability was minor with average ratings varying from 3.0 to 3.4 between the highest and lowest scorer. Intrarater variability was negligible with good agreement between first and second rating as per weighted kappa scores (K = 0.67). Conclusion: The most realistic and practical form of artificial blood identified was a commercial product called KD151 Flowing Blood Syrup. It was found to be not only realistic in appearance but practical in terms of storage and stain removal.

Can B.I.M be civil?

After many years of development BIM (Building Information Modelling) is starting to achieve significant penetration into the building sector of the construction industry. This paper describes the current status of BIM and the drivers that are motivating the change from 2D CAD to BIM within the building sector. The paper then discusses what the implications of the technology underlying BIM may be for the civil construction sector of the construction industry. A project carried out by the Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation is used as an example of this technology as well as several international examples.

Crystallographic characterization of the first reported crystalline form of the potent hallucinogen (R)-2-amino-1-(8-bromobenzo[1,2-b;5,4-b']difuran-4-yl)propane or `bromodragonfly': the 1:1 anhydrous proton-transfer compound with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid

The 1:1 proton-transfer compound of the potent substituted amphetamine hallucinogen (R)-1-(8-bromobenzo[1,2-b; 4,5-b']difuran-4-yl)-2-aminopropane (common trivial name 'bromodragonfly') with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid, 1-(8-bromobenzo[1,2-b;4,5-b']difuran-4-yl)-2-mmoniopropane 2-carboxy-4,6-dinitrophenolate, C13H13BrNO2+ C7H3N2O7- forms hydrogen-bonded cation-anion chain substructures comprising undulating head-to-tail anion chains formed through C(8) carboxyl O-H...O(nitro) associations and incorporating the aminium groups of the cations. The intra-chain cation-anion hydrogen-bonding associations feature proximal cyclic R33(8) interactions involving both a N+-H...O(phenolate) and the carboxyl O--H...O(nitro)associations. Also present are aromatic pi-pi ring interactions [minimum ring centroid separation, 3.566(2)A; inter-plane dihedral angle, 5.13(1)deg]. A lateral hydrogen-bonding interaction between the third aminium proton and a carboxyl O acceptor link the chain substructures giving a two-dimensional sheet structure. This determination represents the first of any form of this compound and confirms that it has the (R) absolute configuration. The atypical crystal stability is attributed both to the hydrogen-bonded chain substructures provided by the anions, which accommodate the aminium proton-donor groups of the cations and give cross-linking, and to the presence of cation--anion aromatic ring pi-pi interactions.
