Two new species of Bdellidae (Acari : Prostigmata) from Brazil

Two new species, Bdella ueckermanni n. sp. and Spinibdella denheyeri n. sp. (Acari: Bdellidae), are described from plants in southeastern Brazil.

Tetrabdella neotropica (Acari: Bdellidae), a new genus and species from Brazil

Tetrabdella neotropica Hernandes & Feres n. gen., n. sp. is the first representative of the family Bdellidae from South America. It can be distinguished from other bdellid mites by the presence of two trichobothriae on tarsi III and IV. The subfamily Spinibdellinae is herein redefined to accomodate the new genus. A new species of Hexabdella (Acari: Bdellidae) from Brazil

A new species of the genus Hexabdella Van der Schyff, Theron & Ueckermann, Hexabdella cinquaginta sp.n. is herein described, representing the second species of the family Bdellidae from the neotropical region. It can be distinguished from H. singula by its lobed striae on lateral margins of hysterosoma and by the leg chaetotaxy. A key to species of the genus is presented. Copyright © 2007 Magnolia Press.

Revision of Nathan Banks type specimens of Bdellidae Dugès (Acari: Trombidiformes) of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Cambridge

In this article, seven Bdellidae Dugès (Acari: Trombidiformes) of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, originally described by Nathan Banks are studied: Cyta americana (Banks, 1902), Bdella tenella Banks, 1896, Bdella utilis Banks, 1914, Bdella californica Banks, 1904, Bdella cardinalis Banks, 1894, Bdella peregrina Banks, 1894 and Bdella brevitarsis Banks. Bdella tenella and Bdella californica are transferred to the genera Spinibdella and Bdellodes, respectively.
