A simple technique is devised to measure the angles of 90-, 45-, 45-deg and 60-, 30-, 90-deg prisms without using expensive spectrometers, autocollimators, and angle gauges. We report the experimental results of an unstable ring resonator with 90-deg beam rotation for a kilowatt class chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL). The distributions of near-field phase and far-field intensity were measured. A beam quality of 1.6 was achieved when the COIL average output power was approximately 5 kW. The influence of the recording conditions, including the widths of the recording beams, the width ratio of the recording beams, and the recording angles, on the properties of crossed-beam photorefractive gratings in doubly doped LiNbO3 crystals is studied. A theoretical model that combines the band transport model with two-dimensional coupled-wave theory is proposed. The numerical calculations of the space-charge field, the intensity profiles of the diffracted beam, and the diffraction efficiency are presented. (C) 2006 Optical Society of America.

We report a combined experimental and computational study of a low constraint aluminum single crystal fracture geometry and investigate the near-tip stress and strain fields. To this end, a single edge notched tensile (SENT) specimen is considered. A notch, with a radius of 50 µm, is taken to lie in the (010) plane and its front is aligned along the [101] direction. Experiments are conducted by subjecting the specimen to tensile loading using a special fixture inside a scanning electron microscope chamber. Both SEM micrographs and electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) maps are obtained from the near-tip region. The experiments are complemented by performing 3D and 2D plane strain finite element simulations within a continuum crystal plasticity framework assuming an isotropic hardening response characterized by the Pierce–Asaro–Needleman model. The simulations show a distinct slip band forming at about 55 deg with respect to the notch line corresponding to slip on (11-bar 1)[011] system, which corroborates well with experimental data. Furthermore, two kink bands occur at about 45 deg and 90 deg with respect to the notch line within which large rotations in the crystal orientation take place. These predictions are in good agreement with the EBSD observations. Finally, the near-tip angular variations of the 3D stress and plastic strain fields in the low constraint SENT fracture geometry are examined in detail.

针对90°全息记录结构的特殊性,在记录和读出阶段分别施加不同极性的外加电场,实现了Fe:LiNbO3晶体中高衍射效率的全息记录和读出。在库赫塔列夫(Kukhtarev)方程基础上引人两维耦合波理论,对组合外加电场提高掺铁铌酸锂晶体光折变特性的机理进行了探讨。实验和理论计算结果都表明这种分别在记录和读出过程施加不同极性组合的外加电场是在Fe:LiNbO3中实现高衍射效率90°记录结构体全息的有效技术方案。

对光折变全息记录特别是双中心全息记录中90°记录结构下较低的衍射效率进行了研究, 采用局域衍射理论对90°记录结构的衍射进行了分析,表明在同样的折射率变化和2 mm的光束宽度的情况下, 只有当折射率光栅振幅大于10-4时, 90°记录结构衍射效率才能够与小角度透射记录结构的衍射效率大致相当。针对环境干扰导致的干涉条纹振动影响光栅记录, 提出了有效调制度概念, 根据分析90°记录结构的干涉条纹间距很小, 容易受外界环境干扰而导致低的折射率变化率, 因此应采用主动条纹锁定系统。此外在双中心全息记录中, 微观光

The influence of microstructure and texture developed by different modes of hot cross-rolling on in-plane anisotropy (A (IP)) of yield strength, work hardening behavior, and anisotropy of Knoop hardness (KHN) yield locus has been investigated. The A (IP) and work hardening behavior are evaluated by tensile testing at 0 deg, 45 deg, and 90 deg to the rolling direction, while yield loci have been generated by directional KHN measurements. It has been observed that specimens especially in the peak-aged temper, in spite of having a strong, rotated Brass texture, show low A (IP). The results are discussed on the basis of Schmid factor analyses in conjunction with microstructural features, namely grain morphology and precipitation effects. For the specimen having a single-component texture, the yield strength variation as a function of orientation can be rationalized by the Schmid factor analysis of a perfectly textured material behaving as a quasi-single crystal. The work hardening behavior is significantly affected by the presence of solute in the matrix and the state of precipitation rather than texture, while yield loci derived from KHN measurements reiterate the low anisotropy of the materials. Theoretic yield loci calculated from the texture data using the visco-plastic self-consistent model and Hill's anisotropic equation are compared with that obtained experimentally.

The bio-corrosion response of ultrafine-grained commercially pure titanium processed by different routes of equal-channel angular pressing has been studied in simulated body fluid. The results indicate that the samples processed through route B-c that involved rotation of the workpiece by 90 deg in the same sense between each pass exhibited higher corrosion resistance compared to the ones processed by other routes of equal-channel angular pressing, as well as the coarse-grained sample. For a similar grain size, the higher corrosion resistance of the samples exhibiting off-basal texture compared to shear texture indicates the major role of texture in corrosion behavior. It is postulated that an optimum combination of microstructure and crystallographic texture can lead to high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

The general procedure for synthesizing the rack and pinion mechanism up to seven precision conditions is developed. To illustrate the method, the mechanism has been synthesized in closed form for three precision conditions of path generation, two positions of function generation, and a velocity condition at one of the precision points. This mechanism has a number of advantages over conventional four bar mechanisms. First, since the rack is always tangent to the pinion, the transmission angle is always 90 deg minus the pressure angle of the rack. Second, with both translation and rotation of the rock occurring, multiple outputs are available. Other advantages include the generation of monotonic functions for a wide variety of motion and nonmonotonic functions for a full range of motion as well as nonlinear amplified motions. In this work the mechanism is made to satisfy a number of amplified motions. In this work the mechanism is made to satisfy a number of practical design requirements such as completely rotatable input crank and others. By including the velocity specification, the designer has considerably more control of the output motion. The method of solution developed in this work uses the complex number method of mechanism synthesis. A numerical example is included

This paper reports the time-mean and phase-locked response of nonreacting as well as reacting flow field in a coaxial swirling jet/flame (nonpremixed). Two distinct swirl intensities plus two different central pipe flow rates at each swirl setting are investigated. The maximum response is observed at the 105 Hz mode in the range of excitation frequencies (0-315 Hz). The flow/flame exhibited minimal response beyond 300 Hz. It is seen that the aspect ratio change of inner recirculation zone (IRZ) under nonreacting conditions (at responsive modes) manifests as a corresponding increase in the time-mean flame aspect ratio. This is corroborated by similar to 25% decrease in the IRZ transverse width in both flame and cold flow states. In addition, 105 Hz excited states are found to shed high energy regions (eddies) asymmetrically when compared to dormant 315 Hz pulsing frequency. The kinetic energy (KE) of the flow field is subsequently reduced due to acoustic excitation and a corresponding increase (similar to O (1)) in fluctuation intensity is witnessed. The lower swirl intensity case is found to be more responsive than the high swirl case as in the former flow state the resistance offered by IRZ to incoming acoustic perturbations is lower due to inherently low inertia. Next, the phase-locked analysis of flow and flame structure is employed to further investigate the phase dependence of flow/flame response. It is found that the asymmetric shifting of IRZ mainly results at 270 deg acoustic forcing. The 90 deg phase angle forcing is observed to convect the IRZ farther downstream in both swirl cases as compared to other phase angles. The present work aims primarily at providing a fluid dynamic view point to the observed nonpremixed flame response without considering the confinement effects.

本论文针对可能应用于叶片零部件的铸造全层片TiAl基合金进行了多方面的实验研究。目的着重于观测该材料的力学性能对微结构因素的敏感性及其失效行为,并以裂纹萌生为线索探讨其相关的物理和力学内禀机制的表征。研究工作涉及到多种跨越毫米尺度的宏-细-微观力学测试方法和技术,其中,新型试样的应力分析和可行性说明针对于脆怀板材试样并具有良好自对中能力的夹具设计是成功的。单调拉伸实验和拉一拉疲劳实验得到了所研究试样的基本力学性能和影响疲劳性能的微结构敏感因素,如晶粒取向、晶粒大小等。实验研究重点说明了层片取几因素对疲劳抗力的影响一与拉伸轴方向平行的晶粒具有最好的裂纹萌生抗力。扫描电镜和透射电镜下的原位拉伸实验得到了沿层片裂纹萌生的等征,这些等征包括:层片裂纹与拉伸轴夹角呈40°/60°/90°的方向倾向性、裂纹沿γ相真孪晶层片界面萌生的位置倾向性等。纳米压痕实验和原子力显微实验证了层片的弹性模量差异,为宏一细一微观分析提供了依据。分析和讨论工作针对于沿层片萌裂纹的方向的选择性和位置的倾向性等实验现象,以宏观界面力学方法和晶体学理论,侧重表征了与层间变形特性相关的力学和物理机制:(1)以模理量失配理论为基础提出了等效失配概念,得到瞪层片TiAl合金的等效失配度为0.16;(2)以界面能量释放率断裂准则为基础,提出了模式因子(TiAl,0.24)方法来评价拉、剪力的耦合作用;(3)根据以汤普森四面体所构筑的γ层间组合模型,并采用γ层片的惯习面间异类原子对数(NAT值)、穿层几何协调因子和穿层几何协调加和因子等方法分别表征其原子结构尺度下的界面结全强度和层间变形的位错协调性。分析和讨论重阐明了全层片TiAl有序合金的层间抗剪切能力较弱和γ层间真孪晶界面易于裂纹萌生等结果。

根据激光多普勒测振技术进行声光通信的工作原理,设计一种新型、小型激光多普勒测振信号鉴频电路。该电路根据外差探测原理,本地振荡器输出信号与探测信号混频得到一路信号,经90°移相后的本地振荡器输出信号再与探测信号混频得到另一路信号,利用这两路信号得到了多普勒频移量和声源振动的频率。利用扬声器激发的水面模拟振源进行实验,表明该电路可有效测量的振动频率范围为300 Hz~10 kHz,证明可用于水下光声通信。

本文提出了一种自动辨识条纹顺序的方法。它使用简化的Otsu算法获得阈值,然后在45°的范围内对干涉条纹的位置进行搜索,最后由区域搜索技术辨识不同的条纹。实验结果表明,本方法能可靠地获得近似45°到90°的干涉条纹顺序。

The problem of calculating the minimum lap or maneuver time of a nonlinear vehicle, which is linearized at each time step, is formulated as a convex optimization problem. The formulation provides an alternative to previously used quasi-steady-state analysis or nonlinear optimization. Key steps are: the use of model predictive control; expressing the minimum time problem as one of maximizing distance traveled along the track centerline; and linearizing the track and vehicle trajectories by expressing them as small displacements from a fixed reference. A consequence of linearizing the vehicle dynamics is that nonoptimal steering control action can be generated, but attention to the constraints and the cost function minimizes the effect. Optimal control actions and vehicle responses for a 90 deg bend are presented and compared to the nonconvex nonlinear programming solution. Copyright © 2013 by ASME.
