In this vignette, Professor Helene Ahl from Jonkoping University considers the consequences for gender equality of policy for women's entrepreneurship in two countries with distinctly different welfare state regimes.

A Comissão da Ordem Econômica da Assembleia Nacional Constituinte (ANC) tem a função de propor um novo modelo econômico brasileiro. Os constituintes terão que definir o papel do Estado na economia. Muitos acham que o Estado deve ter um controle direto sobre o desenvolvimento do país, outros que a iniciativa privada é a base de sustentação do avanço econômico brasileiro. O Senador Severo Gomes (PMDB-SP), relator da Comissão da Ordem Econômica, defende a modernização com o aperfeiçoamento de algumas questões para que a futura Constituição tenha um caráter progressista com a visão voltada para a maioria da população. A Comissão é dividida em três Subcomissões: De Princípios Gerais, Intervenção do Estado, Regime da Propriedade, do Subsolo e da Atividade Econômica; Da Questão Urbana e Transporte, e Da Política Agrícola e Fundiária e da Reforma Agrária. O Deputado José Lins (PFL-CE) disse que o importante é a produção da terra. Severo Gomes (PMDB-SP) acredita que a nova Constituição irá traduzir o pensamento do povo brasileiro.

How can strategic philanthropy contribute to innovation for companies

This investigation proposes to explore the existing link between a strategic conception of philanthropy and innovation. Indeed, the nature of the research question relies on an unexplored field in the CSR and Innovation management academic literature. It starts with the interest to know which the benefits are for a firm encouraged to invest strategically in philanthropy. In this regard, the analysis contributes in fitting this gap by following different objectives in an exploratory perspective. Throughout the research it will be analyzed the concept and the current and past contributions on the different branches of innovation (product innovation, managerial innovation, technological innovation), to accentuate the relation between an accurate strategic approach to philanthropy and the impact on the organizational value. Indeed, analyzing philanthropic innovation may provide insights about business opportunities and notions related to social investments and profit. That aspect includes the link between those strategic decisions that a firm can use to maximize those investments as it was part of their core business. It also proves the existing link between CSR and innovation, and the possibilities that the enterprises have towards this subject.

Included are photographs of beauty pageants, parades, women, families, fashion, local history, Winthrop students and events such as May Day, public school events, plays, sports, weddings, and Azer’s family. These photographs were taken in York, Chester, Lancaster, Cherokee, Kershaw, Chesterfield, Horry and other South Carolina counties. Also included are negatives, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photograph albums, and photographic equipment, and photographs arranged by subject.
