Plumbogummite PbAl3(PO4)2(OH,H2O)6 is a mineral of environmental significance and is a member of the alunite-jarosite supergroup. The molecular structure of the mineral has been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The spectra of different plumbogummite specimens differ although there are many common features. The Raman spectra prove the spectral profile consisting of overlapping bands and shoulders. Raman bands and shoulders observed at 971, 980, 1002 and 1023 cm−1 (China sample) and 913, 981, 996 and 1026 cm−1 (Czech sample) are assigned to the ν1 symmetric stretching modes of the (PO4)3−, at 1002 and 1023 cm−1 (China) and 996 and 1026 cm−1 to the ν1 symmetric stretching vibrations of the (O3POH)2− units, and those at 1057, 1106 and 1182 (China) and at 1102, 1104 and 1179 cm−1 (Czech) to the ν3 (PO4)3− and ν3 (PO3) antisymmetric stretching vibrations. Raman bands and shoulders at 634, 613 and 579 cm−1 (China) and 611 and 596 cm−1 (Czech) are attributed to the ν4 (δ) (PO4)3− bending vibrations and those at 507, 494 and 464 cm−1 (China) and 505 and 464 cm−1 (Czech) to the ν2 (δ) (PO4)3− bending vibrations. The Raman spectrum of the OH stretching region is complex. Raman bands and shoulders are identified at 2824, 3121, 3249, 3372, 3479 and 3602 cm−1 for plumbogummite from China, and at 3077, 3227, 3362, 3480, 3518 and 3601 cm−1 for the Czech Republic sample. These bands are assigned to the ν OH stretching modes of water molecules and hydrogen ions. Approximate O–H⋯O hydrogen bond lengths inferred from the Raman spectra vary in the range >3.2–2.62 Å (China) and >3.2–2.67 Å (Czech). The minority presence of some carbonate ions in the plumbogummite (China sample) is connected with distinctive intensity increasing of the Raman band at 1106 cm−1, in which may participate the ν1 (CO3)2− symmetric stretching vibration overlapped with phosphate stretching vibrations.

Plants, herbivores and parasitoids affect each other directly and indirectly; however, feedback effects mediated by host plant traits have rarely been demonstrated in these tritrophic interactions. Brood-site pollination mutualisms (e.g. those involving figs and fig wasps) represent specialised tritrophic communities where the progeny of mutualistic pollinators and of non-mutualistic gallers (both herbivores) together with that of their parasitoids develop within enclosed inflorescences called syconia (hence termed brood-sites or microcosms). Plant reproductive phenology (which affects temporal brood-site availability) and inflorescence size (representing brood-site size) are plant traits that could affect reproductive resources, and hence relationships between trees, pollinators and non-pollinating wasps. Analysing wasp and seed contents of syconia, we examined direct, indirect, trophic and non-trophic relationships within the interaction web of the fig-fig wasp community of Ficus racemosa in the context of brood site size and availability. We demonstrate that in addition to direct resource competition and predator-prey (host-parasitoid) interactions, these communities display exploitative or apparent competition and trait-mediated indirect interactions. Inflorescence size and plant reproductive phenology impacted plant-herbivore and plant-parasitoid associations. These plant traits also influenced herbivore-herbivore and herbivore-parasitoid relationships via indirect effects. Most importantly, we found a reciprocal effect between within-tree reproductive asynchrony and fig wasp progeny abundances per syconium that drives a positive feedback cycle within the system. The impact of a multitrophic feedback cycle within a community built around a mutualistic core highlights the need for a holistic view of plant-herbivore-parasitoid interactions in the community ecology of mutualisms.

本文用PBS和PVP两种介质作为激光衍射仪的悬浮介质,系统地观测了悬浮介质物化性能不同对红细胞变形指数(DI)—渗透压曲线的影响,发现:1.在不同悬浮介质中的变形指数—渗透压曲线有显著差别,在高渗区这种差别更明显.2.同一红细胞试样,在相同高渗压下,在不同的悬浮介质中进行交叉实验表明、PBS悬浮介质能使得红细胞变形性得到恢复,而PVP悬浮介质却使得红细胞变形性显著降低.3.在高渗情况下,首次观察到红细胞变形性随时间变化,一开始DI增大,约3小时后趋于稳定,无论PBS还是PVP其趋势皆相似.

ENGLISH: The rate at which increments are deposited on the sagittal otoliths of yellowfin (Thunnus albacares) and skipjack (Katsuwonus p elamis) tunas is determined by a markrecapture experiment using tetracycline. During growth in fork length from 40 to 110 em, and for a period of up to 389 days, yellowfin of the Revillagigedo Islands- Baja California region deposit one increment per day in either the postrostrum or rostrum position of the otolith. For skipjack of the same region, rostrum increments underestimate time by approximately 24 percent during growth from 42 to 64 cm and over the maximum interval of 249 days. The growth rate of each species is estimated from the recapture fork length and the linear change in an otolith dimension following tetracycline injection. Over specific ranges in fork length the rates are 3.06 and 1.15 em per month for yellowfin and skipjack, respectively. SPANISH: La rapidez (tasa) en la que se depositan los incrementos en los otolitos sagitales del aleta amarilla (Thunnus albacares) y el barrilete (Katsuwonus pelamis) se determina mediante un experimento al recapturar los peces que han sido marcados con tetraciclina. Durante el crecimiento de la longitud de horquilla de 40 a 110 cm y por un período hasta de 389 días, se forma en el aleta amarilla de la región de las Islas Revillagigedo-Baja California, un incremento diario ya sea en el parte del postrostrum o rostrum de los otolitos. Con respecto al barrilete de la misma region los incrementos en el rostrum subestiman aproximadamente el tiempo en un 24 por ciento durante el crecimiento de 42 a 64 cm y sobre un intervalo máximo de 249 días. El índice de crecimiento de cada especie se estima en la recaptura según la longitud de horquilla y el cambio lineal en la dimensión de un otolito después de la inyección de tetraciclina. La variación específica sobre la longitud de horquilla de los índices son 3.06 y 1.15 cm por mes para el aleta amarilla y el barrilete, respectivamente. (PDF contains 54 pages.)

提出并分析了一种确定的、可并行的消息认证码--DPMAC(deterministic parallelizable message authentication code).它基于分组长度为128-bit的分组密码来构造.使用一个密钥,可以处理任意长度的消息.在底层分组密码是伪随机置换的假设下,使用Game-Playing技术量化了攻击者成功伪造的概率,从而证明了其安全性.

Multicolored optical active planes have been fabricated with magnetron sputter method coupled with selective masking technique. The plane is multilayer structured with Ag nanoparticles and TiO2 thin layer as the building blocks. It was found that the formed multilayer can be readily wavelength multiplexed by simply overlapping several nano-Ag/TiO2 layered structures, each of which may have different surface plasmon resonance wavelength. Unlike high order multiple resonances of large particles each of the multiplexing wavelengths in such a system is separately tunable. Importantly, it reveals that modification of the TiO2 layer thickness generates a fine tuning of the resonance wavelength.

中国东南部晚中生代以来的动力学背景一直受到大量学者的关注,特别是大陆岩石圈地幔和大规模岩浆活动事件。华南地区广泛发育的基性脉岩,为研究中国东南部动力学背景提供了载体。前人分别从年代学、矿物学、岩石学和地球化学等方面对广布于华南(福建、广东、江西、海南、湖南等地区)基性岩进行了详细研究,并取得了许多重要成果。 赣杭构造带地处一级大地构造单元扬子地块和华夏地块结合部位,横跨江南元古宙岛弧和华南加里东造山带两个二级构造单元,长期控制两侧地质构造、岩浆活动、沉积、变质及成矿作用。带内发育的基性岩为认识构造带活动情况提供可能。但目前对构造带内的基性岩浆活动的研究较少,应用系统的矿物学、元素和同位素地球化学及同位素年代学等研究方法,对赣杭构造带中生代以来的基性岩体及基性脉岩进行了系统研究。并应用其形成时代、源区性质等结论对中国东南部岩石圈伸展减薄、地幔性质等地球动力学背景中的问题进行探讨。主要取得以下几点认识: 1. 系统进行资料收集,并在此基础上进行野外考察和采样,明确了赣杭构造带发育基性岩的岩石类型主要为辉长岩,辉绿岩及橄榄辉绿岩。主要分布在构造带的南侧,受主/次断裂控制明显。 2. 明确赣杭构造带基性岩体主要为辉长岩,落在粗面玄武岩-玄武岩-玄武粗面安山岩,碱性-亚碱性范围内各有分布,但以亚碱性居多。SiO2范围从45.11-53.47 wt%,MgO的范围从4.06-9.28 wt%,TiO2的范围从0.79-3.63 wt%。微量元素总体富集大离子亲石元素(LILE)(Ba、Rb)、轻稀土(LREE),而亏损高场强元素(HFSE)(Ta、Nb、Zr、Hf、Ti)和重稀土元素(HREE)。余江、东乡、枧头、虎头等近构造带样品,岩浆来源与OIB近似,Nb、Ta亏损不明显。岩浆源区地幔性质从亏损地幔向富集地幔都有分布,流体熔体的交代作用及地壳物质参与可能是造成富集程度不同的主要原因。基性岩体未受到明显的地壳混染,主要经部分熔融形成,成岩过程中发生了橄榄石和单斜辉石的分离结晶作用。构造带对岩浆源区及深部壳幔物质演化发挥重要作用,还控制着岩浆的上升侵入。 3. 赣杭构造带基性脉岩主要为辉绿岩类,在玄武岩-玄武安山岩范围内,碱性-亚碱性范围内都有分布,以亚碱性占大多数。SiO2的范围从44.44-54.73 wt%,MgO的范围从2.74-7.89 wt%,TiO2的范围从0.91-3.39 wt%。微量元素总体富集大离子亲石元素(LILE)(Ba、Rb)和轻稀土元素(LREE),而亏损高场强元素(HFSE)(Ta、Nb、Zr、Hf、Ti)。基性岩脉经不同程度部分熔融作用形成,且成岩过程中经历了橄榄石、单斜辉石及少量斜长石的分离结晶作用。样品没有受到明显的地壳混染现象。基性脉岩的源区性质与流体熔体交代作用及地壳物质参与有关。少量下地壳以拆沉形式加入了原始地幔,进而通过流体熔体交代作用,造成了原始地幔的富集。伸展活动的逐渐加大及软流圈的上涌为拆沉提供了有利条件。赣杭构造带对岩浆源区、深部壳幔物质演化及岩浆上升侵入影响显著。 4. 赣杭构造带岩浆活动发育呈现多元化特点,Sr-Nd-Pb同位素特征显示有EMⅡ的参与。流体交代特征比较复杂,源区存在金云母和金红石的交代,进一步说明下地壳成分参与了壳幔相互作用。同位素模拟表明古老基底通过源区混合也有所参与。结合前人的研究,提出了本区的成岩模式。赣杭构造带地区伴随岩石圈伸展作用的进行,发生了岩石圈减薄及软流圈地幔的上涌作用,少量下地壳物质拆沉到岩石圈地幔参与了岩浆的形成,构造带重新活化及活动对岩浆形成制约明显。新生代岩石圈地幔对中生代岩石圈地幔继承和改造。 5. 根据K-Ar年龄并结合区域内已有同位素年龄,赣杭构造带上的基性岩具有周期性分布特点,初步分为±180 Ma、145-150 Ma、120-140 Ma、95-110 Ma和65-80 Ma五组,且以120-140 Ma和95-110 Ma的峰值最为集中,代表了赣杭构造带岩浆活动最为强烈的期次。据目前研究,145 Ma限定了中国东南岩石圈伸展作用开始作用的下限,随着研究深入,更早能准确指示转换年龄的证据可能会被发现。大于140 Ma的岩浆比较偏向于构造体制转换下的构造-岩浆活动产物,与岩石圈的减薄及软流圈上涌关系密切。整个华南的岩石圈伸展作用对大规模金属成矿意义明显。赣杭构造带在热源、流体来源及驱动机制等方面对区内的以铀为主的金属成矿作用起到了制约。

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a technique for producing conformal layers of nanometre-scale thickness, used commercially in non-planar electronics and increasingly in other high-tech industries. ALD depends on self-limiting surface chemistry but the mechanistic reasons for this are not understood in detail. Here we demonstrate, by first-principle calculations of growth of HfO2 from Hf(N(CH3)2)4–H2O and HfCl4–H2O and growth of Al2O3 from Al(CH3)3–H2O, that, for all these precursors, co-adsorption plays an important role in ALD. By this we mean that previously-inert adsorbed fragments can become reactive once sufficient numbers of molecules adsorb in their neighbourhood during either precursor pulse. Through the calculated activation energies, this ‘cooperative’ mechanism is shown to have a profound influence on proton transfer and ligand desorption, which are crucial steps in the ALD cycle. Depletion of reactive species and increasing coordination cause these reactions to self-limit during one precursor pulse, but to be re-activated via the cooperative effect in the next pulse. This explains the self-limiting nature of ALD.

The successful design of biomaterial scaffolds for articular cartilage tissue engineering requires an understanding of the impact of combinations of material formulation parameters on diverse and competing functional outcomes of biomaterial performance. This study sought to explore the use of a type of unsupervised artificial network, a self-organizing map, to identify relationships between scaffold formulation parameters (crosslink density, molecular weight, and concentration) and 11 such outcomes (including mechanical properties, matrix accumulation, metabolite usage and production, and histological appearance) for scaffolds formed from crosslinked elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) hydrogels. The artificial neural network recognized patterns in functional outcomes and provided a set of relationships between ELP formulation parameters and measured outcomes. Mapping resulted in the best mean separation amongst neurons for mechanical properties and pointed to crosslink density as the strongest predictor of most outcomes, followed by ELP concentration. The map also grouped formulations together that simultaneously resulted in the highest values for matrix production, greatest changes in metabolite consumption or production, and highest histological scores, indicating that the network was able to recognize patterns amongst diverse measurement outcomes. These results demonstrated the utility of artificial neural network tools for recognizing relationships in systems with competing parameters, toward the goal of optimizing and accelerating the design of biomaterial scaffolds for articular cartilage tissue engineering.
