Este libro constituye un esfuerzo por avanzar en el análisis de algunos ejes indispensables para la comprensión de lo que ha sucedido en el ámbito partidista y electoral en Colombia, durante las últimas décadas. Desde distintas aproximaciones, los artículos que lo componen buscan ahondar en el conocimiento en torno a las formas en que funciona el sistema partidista y electoral hoy en día. Un primer aporte de este libro es ofrecer nuevos elementos de análisis para abocar tres temas en los cuales existen hondos vacíos en la literatura actual: el impacto de las reformas político-electorales, los cambios en el sistema de partidos y las transformaciones en las formas de participación y competencia política. Un segundo aporte consiste en entrelazar el análisis histórico y el análisis coyuntural. Los autores buscan integrar las dimensiones coyunturales, asociadas con debates recientes sobre temas partidistas y electorales que han tenido gran relevancia en los últimos años, con análisis de más largo aliente. En tercer lugar, las hipótesis desarrolladas por los artículos se sustentan en una importante evidencia empírica. Se trabaja con datos cuantitativos que prácticamente han sido inexplorados por otros estudios.

Metric Plan Reading Course, HR-324, 1997

This Plan Reading Course was developed by the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering of Iowa State University under contract with the Iowa Highway Research Board, Project HR-324. It is intended to be an instructional tool for Iowa DOT, county and municipal employees within the state of Iowa. Under this contract, a previous Plan Reading Course, prepared for the Iowa State Highway Commission in 1965, has been completely revised using a new format, new plans, updated specifications, and new material. This course is a self-taught course consisting of two parts; Highway Plans, and Bridge and Culvert plans. Each part consists of a self-instruction book, a set of plans, a question booklet, and an answer booklet. This is the self-instruction book for the Bridge and Culvert Plans part of the course. The example structures included in this part of the course are a prestressed concrete beam bridge and a reinforced concrete box culvert.

Plan Reading Course, HR-324

This booklet is part of the Bridge Plan Reading Course developed by the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering of Iowa State University under contract with the Highway Research Advisory Board, Project HR-324. It is intended to be an instructional tool for Iowa DOT and county and municipal employees within the state of Iowa. The questions in this booklet are designed to test your knowledge of the material in the Bridge Plan Reading Course. You are free to use both the plans and the text material to assist you in answering these questions. There is a separate ANSWER BOOKLET which contains the answers to these questions. Consult that booklet to make sure you have answered these questions correctly. If you miss the answer to a question, go back and review the text material and the plans to make sure you understand the correct answer.

Self Instructional Math, HR-324, 1995

The Self Instructional Math course book is designed to provide a basic math knowledge for those involved in the planning, design, and construction of highways. It was developed in a manner to allow the student to take the course with minimal supervision and at times that the work schedule allows. The first version of the course was developed in the early 1970's and due to its popularity was revised in the early 1990's to reflect changes in the highway construction math needs. The anticipated move to metric (System International) measurements by the highway industry has necessitated the need to change the math course problem values to metric units. The course includes the latest in Iowa DOT policy information relative to the selection and use of metric values for highway design, and construction. Each unit of the book contains instructional information, section quizzes and a comprehensive examination. All problem values are expressed in metric rather than dual (english and SI) units. The appendix contains useful conversion factors to assist the reader in making the change to metric.
