UCPR 229 - defamation proceedings – damages to be assessed – application to interrogate as to defendant’s motive - implications of Defamation ACT 2005 - application to interrogate before action - when in the interests of justice

In Hogan v Ellery [2009] QDC 154 McGill DCJ considered two applications for leave to deliver interrogatories under r 229 of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 (Qld) (UCPR). The judgment provides useful analysis of the circumstances in which a plaintiff may obtain leave to deliver interrogatories to a defendant in defamation proceedings, and also to a non-party before action.

A Deputada Rose de Freitas (PMDB-ES) opina sobre o tema "sistema de governo". O Deputado Paulo Ramos (PMDB-RJ) faz denúncias de sabotagem em relação ao acidente com o avião do Ministro Marcos Freire. A Assembleia Nacional Constituinte (ANC), em clima de denúncia, discute a informação de que o dinheiro da venda de armas ao Irã teria sido usado para financiar a eleição de deputados no Brasil. O Deputado Bocaiuva Cunha (PDT-RJ) relata fatos relacionado com o grupo guerrilheiro dos "Contras".

List 229: Irish and English Dendrochronology

These results cover dating undertaken since the last published list of dated building from Ireland (Brown (2002)); one English church building is also included in the list. Thanks are due to the owners of the buildings and especially to everyone who assisted in taking of the samples: Phil Barrett, Sapphire Mussen, Charles Lyons, Jon Pilcher and Mike Baillie, Amanda Pedlow, Caimin O’Brien and Martin Timoney. Most of the descriptions of the buildings are taken from the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage http://www.buildingofi reland.ie/. The correlation values were generated by CROSS84 (Munro, 1984), which provides a signifi cance level for the date to be correct; *** (extremely signifi cant), ** (very signifi cant), * (signifi cant), nsm (not signifi cant). Estimated felling date ranges are based on the Belfast sapwood estimate of 32 ± 9 years. Date ranges have been calculated by adding and subtracting 9 years from the calculated estimated felling dates. Timbers from the following buildings could not be dated. Cork: St Finbarre’s Cathedral (W 675 715); Dublin: Christchurch Cathedral (O 152 341); Galway: Cloghan Castle (M 972 119); Kilkenny: Rothe House (S 506 563); Offaly: Boveen House (S 075 956); Waterford: Christchurch Cathedral (S 616 121). 229 GHz FSS for the MetOp Second Generation Microwave Sounder Instrument

This paper describes the design of a frequency selective surface (FSS) which provides transmission of 228 - 230 GHz radiation and rejection from 164 – 191.3 GHz with insertion losses under 0.25 dB for TE wave polarization at 45 incidence. This state-of-the art filter consists of two air spaced freestanding perforated screens, comprising unit cell elements of resonant slots folded for the purpose of miniaturisation to enhance angular stability. The reported geometry enhances the angular stability (45 ± 10) of the FSS beyond what is possible with canonical linear slots and satisfies the stringent electromagnetic performance requirements for signal demultiplexing in the quasi-optical feed train of the Microwave Sounder (MWS) instrument.
