INTRODUO: A leishmaniose visceral (LV) uma doena negligenciada de grande importncia no cenrio brasileiro, particularmente devido sua gravidade, sua expanso geogrfica e a associao com condies de pobreza. Nesta perspectiva, as condies nutricionais emergem como elementos a serem considerados na compreenso de sua situao epidemiolgica, sejam como potenciais fatores de risco para o estabelecimento da doena aps infeco ou como fatores associados ao prognstico. OBJETIVO: Avaliar a associao entre estado nutricional e infeco por Leishmania infantum em moradores de reas endmicas para LV no municpio de Teresina, Piau. MTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo seccional realizado em bairros de alta endemicidade para a doena, envolvendo 198 indivduos com idade entre 2 e 65 anos. Peso e estatura foram aferidos no domiclio por profissionais treinados. Para a avaliao de adultos foi utilizado o ndice de massa corporal (IMC). Para crianas e adolescentes foram avaliados os ndices antropomtricos (peso / idade, estatura / idade, peso / estatura e IMC / idade). A infeco por L. infantum foi avaliada a partir da intradermorreao de Montenegro (IDRM). Para a anlise foi utilizada regresso logstica multivariada, estimando-se razes de chances (OR) como medidas de associao e seus respectivos intervalos de confiana (95%). RESULTADOS: A prevalncia de infeco assintomtica foi de 32,6%. A prevalncia de excesso de peso foi de 52% entre adultos (IMC ? 25 kg/m) e de 23,9% entre crianas e jovens (escore-z de IMC / idade > 1). Indivduos com sobrepeso, tanto adultos como aqueles de at 19 anos, apresentaram chance de infeco cerca de 70% maior quando comparados aos eutrficos (p>0,05 para ambos). CONCLUSO: Ainda que no estatisticamente significante, a associao entre infeco assintomtica por L. infantum e sobrepeso sugere que estes indivduos possam estar sob maior risco de infeco por apresentarem dficits de micronutrientes relevantes para a resposta imune especfica. Para investigar esta hiptese, so necessrios estudos longitudinais que investiguem o papel do consumo alimentar e do perfil de micronutrientes desta populao no risco de infeco por L. infantum.

The sand fly Lutzomyia longipalpis (Diptera: Psychodidae) is currently appointed as the main vector of visceral leishmaniasis in the Americas. The growth of cities in areas originally endemics to American Visceral Leishmaniasis (AVL) resulted in the spread of the disease at the same time that observed the adaptation of this species to the urban environment.Changes in behavior of L.longipalpis that enabled the adapt to increasing losings of biodiversity, as well as the frequent exposure of the vector to insecticides evident in urban areas, could justify the increasing population of the species and consequently the spread of disease for these environments .Thus, we selected sixty houses spread among three areas with increasing stages of occupation of an area endemic for AVL in Teresina-PI. We evaluated the correlation between the density of L.longipalpis captured and different aspects, such as population density of animals, vegetation cover and socio-economic aspects in each house. In addition to the correlations, the feeding preference of the vector between the predominant plant species in the neighborhoods, as well as the presence of metabolic mechanisms of resistance among the captured insects were tested. The results showed that over the growing occupations, represented by three areas, L.longipalpis demonstrate its adaptive nature through an apparent opportunistic behavior in relation to sources of carbohydrates and blood. On the evolutionary point of view, this behavior may have favored its vector competence in urban areas among the limited presence of food sources, as well as in various environments encountered.

Neste trabalho, nosso objetivo principal investigar o discurso argumentativo no gnero editorial dos jornais O Dia e Folha de So Paulo, estabelecendo comparaes. intuito, tambm, explorar o posicionamento do articulista frente aos argumentos levantados no texto, as vozes que permeiam os editoriais, bem como o papel dos conectivos no discurso editorialista. Esta pesquisa est dividida em quatro captulos: o primeiro, que trata de gneros textuais e tipologia textual; o segundo, que compara o jornalismo do Sudeste com o do Piau; o terceiro, que expe sobre o modo argumentativo, e o quarto e ltimo, que trata da anlise dos editoriais. O corpus do trabalho consta de 20 editoriais, sendo que dez so do jornal teresinense O Dia e dez da Folha de So Paulo. Os editoriais do jornal O Dia foram coletados entre setembro e dezembro de 2011, e os da Folha, entre junho e setembro deste ano. Para subsidiar nossas observaes, elegemos, como aporte terico, as ideias defendidas, principalmente, por Bakthin ([1979], 2003)), Marcuschi (2008, 2010), Koch (2011), Perelman e Olbrechts-Tyteca (2005), Charaudeau (1992, 1997, 2006, 2010), Ducrot e Anscombre (1983)

RESUMO:O hbito de ler decorrente do exerccio e nem sempre se constitui num ato prazeroso, porm, sempre necessrio. Por este motivo se deve recorrer a estmulos para criar o hbito de leitura em nossos alunos. Desta forma, a disciplina de Educao Fsica pode tambm contribuir para este processo. Por ser uma disciplina que envolve a dimenso motora, cognitiva e expressionista, a sua relao com a leitura quase que intrnseca, porm, viabilizada de formas diferentes. certo que a criana no conseguir na sua totalidade, uma absoro intelectual explcita da leitura para construir uma realidade virtual e representar em gestos corporais, a partir de um conjunto lxico de significantes e significados correspondentes postura fsica. No entanto, o exerccio da leitura desenvolve na criana capacidades cognitivas de mais valia que lhe possibilita nveis satisfatrios de representatividade corporal. As atividades recreativas oferecem, sem dvida, um processo excepcional para fazer as crianas tomarem parte ativamente no processo do ensino, como participantes, em vez de meros espectadores. A proposta deste trabalho de interveno busca auxiliar o professor de Educao Fsica no campo de atuao profissional do pesquisador, tendo como delimitao do campo de investigao o Centro de Educao Bsica Governador Freitas Neto, escola da rede municipal de Educao de Teresina e, Colgio Lerote, da rede particular de Teresina. Deste modo, os objetivos do presente estudo consistem em analisar as contribuies da disciplina de Educao Fsica para a aprendizagem do ensino da prtica de leitura com crianas do Ensino Fundamental, nas sries iniciais com escolas da rede municipal e particular da cidade de Teresina Piau. Concluiu-se que com um trabalho integrado da Educao Fsica com o processo de alfabetizao nas primeiras sries do Ensino Fundamental, essa etapa pode ser vista de forma rica e ampla. Assim, com essa contribuio, aprender a ler e escrever pode, pois, se tornar mais natural e mais divertido. ABSTRACT: The habit of reading is a result of exercise and is not always a pleasurable act, but always necessary. For this reason one should resort to incentives to create the reading habit in our students. Thus, the discipline of Physical Education can also contribute to this process. Because it is a discipline that involves the size motor, cognitive and expressionistic, their relationship with reading that is almost inherent, however, made possible in different ways. It is true that the child can not in its entirety, an explicit intellectual absorption of reading to construct a virtual reality and represented body gestures from a whole lexicon of signifiers and meanings corresponding to the physical posture. However, the exercise of reading the child develops cognitive abilities that enables him to gain more satisfactory levels of representative body. The recreational activities offer, no doubt, an exceptional procedure to make the children take part actively in the process of education, as participants rather than spectators. The purpose of this intervention work intends to help the physical education teacher in the professional field of research, with the delimitation of the field of research the Centre for Basic Education Governador Freitas Neto, the municipal school of Teresina and Education, College Lerote, from private Teresina. Thus, the objectives of this study are to analyze the contributions of physical education for learning the practice of teaching reading with children of elementary school, in the early grades with municipal schools and particularly the city of Teresina - Piau. It was concluded that with an integrated physical education with the acquisition of literacy in the early grades of elementary school, this step can be seen in a rich and broad. So, with this contribution, learning to read and write may therefore become more natural and fun.

O objetivo primrio da pesquisa foi analisar como a EA implementada nos cursos de administrao, tendo em vista as disposies institudas pela Poltica Nacional da Educao Ambiental. Seus objetivos secundrios foram: (a) analisar como os atores chaves do processo pedaggico dos cursos de administrao de empresas compreendem a educao ambiental; (b) identificar quais os parmetros as IES utilizam para inserir a educao ambiental nos cursos de administrao; (c) identificar como e quais as prticas de educao ambiental esto envolvidas na formao do administrador. Trata-se de um estudo de casos mltiplos com trs IES de Teresina-PI, foi utilizada a anlise de contedo com auxlio do Atlas/ti. A anlise da implementao da EA nas Instituies de Ensino Superior reafirmou dificuldades j previstas em outros estudos e apontou novos desafios relatados no decorrer desse texto. Duas foras surgem nessa anlise: a institucional e a individual. A fora institucional corroborada pelas aes mais amplas e que so fortemente influenciadas pelas diretrizes legais da EA; a fora individual se confirma pela presena de docentes envolvidos com a questo, essa fora assume uma relevncia quando se considera o prprio significado da EA como instrumento de fortalecimento de valores sociais, assim como torna mais fcil sua disseminao pelo modelo de envolvimento que os sujeitos apresentam.

This work had to verify the influence of massar, while mortar component, in the process of formation of saltpeter in cementitious plaster walls of buildings. The massar is a ceramic material, texture areno usually found in large volumes argillaceous sediments in Teresina, Piaui State capital, which is associated with the Portland cement mortar form for fixing and finishing in construction. Saltpeter or flowering is a pathology that happens in gypsum wallboard, which invariably reaction between soluble salts present in materials, water and oxygen. This pathology, supposedly credited to massar caused its use to suffer significant reduction in the market of the buildings. Verify this situation with particular scientific rigor is part of the proposal of this work. Grading tests Were performed, consistency limits (LL, LP and IP), determination of potential hydrogen, capacity Exchange (CTC), electrical conductivity (EC), x-ray fluorescence (FRX) and x-ray diffraction (DRX). Massar analysed samples in number six, including sample plastering salitrado presented potential hydrogen medium 5.7 in water and 5.2 on KCl n and electrical conductivity (EC), equal to zero. These results pointed to the affirmative that massar is a material that does not provide salinity content that can be taken into consideration. It is therefore concluded that the material analyzed not competing, at least with respect to the presence of soluble salts, for the formation of saltpeter

Objective: Identify the factors associated to the painful symptomatology and the quality of life and in dentists in the city of Teresina-PI. Brazil. Methods It was accomplished a cross-sectional study with 175 dentists registered with the Regional Council of Dentistry-PI from March to May, 2007. For characterization of the dentists we used a multidimensional questionnaire containing sociodemographic (age, sex) and professional information (time of service, journey to work). The evaluation of the presence of pain was performed by the Protocol of Painful Symptoms of McGILL. The WHOQOL-Bref was used to assess quality of life through physical, psychological, social and environmental domains. Results / Conclusions The painful symptomatology was reported in 69,7% of individuals, being observed in 77.3% of women and 60.3% of men. Body regions where pain was prevalent was the regions of neck (69,2%) lower back (69,7%). The dentists had high levels of self-perception of quality of life satisfaction and health. 96,0% of the individuals reported quality of life as very good, and only 16.6% reported dissatisfied with health. The Physical and Environmental domains showed values higher than the psychological and social domains. The painful symptomatology of studied dentists is associated with female sex (RP=1.28; IC95% 1.04-1.58; p<0.01). A multivariate analysis by logistic regression was performed and only the painful symptoms (OR = 2.51, IC95% 1,21-5,21) remained associated with the quality of life of these professionals when adjusted for other variables studied

This work focalize the institutional and educational evaluation, aiming to investigate the Municipal System Institutional Evaluation Performance of Teresina City Piau (2001-2005), and to reflect about Institutional System Performance and its contribution to compose a new learning evaluation practice. In this sense, classifies elements about the evaluation practice in two Elementary Education municipal public schools, involving Education Municipal Bureau technicians as managers, pedagogues, teachers and students. Based on the ethnographic studies principles in the educational area, the work employs investigative procedures like document analysis, interviews with groups and individuals and also participator s comments. Intending to comprehend the complexity produced by the institutional and education evaluation processes, the wok reveals the Institutional Evaluation legal and educational political basis and the several positions assumed by the Learning Evaluation, as a classification tool or as a learning enhancement. This work points, as results, to a evaluation culture bipolarity carried out by the Municipal Education System as a explicit control and regulation toll, related to the classification and learning in a interaction process that operates both in the pressure and the reflection, as a culture practice established between excellence of logic and learning. The evaluation history has been construct on the evaluation actions dialectics, joint simultaneously between the Institutional Evaluation Performance and the learning evaluation. The senses, meanings and actions bipolarity is a interaction process product sustained between the institutional evaluation, under the scholar ranking application, and the learning evaluation. In this relativity, the teacher evaluation practice is found, ruled by interesting, thoughts and actions on the school evaluation, allowing a higher security and support to the learning results. Grounded in the researched reality, its possible to say that the teacher s evaluation practice is diversified, with different characteristics, when it is done in the learning search and in the learning intention. In the first case, reflects, rearranges and constructs new actions that lead the student to produce learning. In the second, shows the will, the wish of learning, but is a weak action, producing a not really significant learning and development; as a result, remains the mark approach as a determinant in the student future. The work s hope is to contribute not just to rethink these two evaluations dimensions the institutional and the learning ones but also to organize the school and to improve the pedagogic process
