Geografia e consumo: dinâmicas sociais e a produção do espaço urbano

As reflexões elaboradas nesta pesquisa se preocuparam em abordar o consumo como categoria de análise geográfica e, por meio de seu entendimento, compreender os principais impactos na produção do espaço urbano, na atualidade. Observadas as metrópoles de São Paulo, Lisboa, Seoul e Dubai, construiu-se um pensamento que considera a metrópole como espaço-sedutor. Nesta investigação, elaborou-se uma leitura das paisagens do consumo nas referidas metrópoles e várias foram as contradições encontradas nas relações de consumo e na produção do espaço urbano, e para debatê-las foi essencial o uso do método dialético. O reconhecimento das articulações entre a produção, a circulação, o comércio e o consumo, dentro do processo de generalização da mercadoria, também ganhou importância neste estudo. Ao final da pesquisa procurou-se abordar o consumo como dimensão social da questão ambiental, e assim outros conflitos foram apontados, entre eles a existência de uma geografia da felicidade paradoxal e a emergente necessidade de se minimizarem os impactos ambientais do consumo

A Contribuição do Pensamento de Edgar Morin

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a contribuição do pensamento de Edgar Morin para a Educação Ambiental. O processo gradativo de deterioração do meio ambiente tem levado alguns segmentos sociais ao interesse pelo processo educativo como possibilidade para se compreender a “questão ambiental” e contribuir para a superação da relação dicotômica entre sociedade-natureza. Nesse sentido, as idéias de Edgar Morin parecem indicar um caminho interessante para uma concepção de Educação Ambiental que favoreça o “pensamento complexo”, fundamental para a superação do modelo de pensamento predominante no chamado mundo ocidental, sobretudo a partir da modernidade.

Uma paisagem mutante

Este texto procura contribuir para a discussão sobre as relações entre Estado, Sociedade e a Questão Ambiental, buscando situá-la em função das especificidades regionais da formação econômica e social brasileira, com destaque para a nova territorialidade da paisagem construída no Estado de São Paulo.

Esverdeando a manufatura: dos fundamentos conceituais ao estudo de múltiplos casos

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the integration of environmental issues in the context of manufacturing function/production (or operations), which is considered the organizational area that should lead corporate environmental management. We present a background on the greening of the manufacturing area, especially in terms of product development, process, quality management and logistics. Four case studies of Brazilian companies are presented as part of the study, and it is found that the maturity level of these companies' environmental management tends to follow the degree to which the environment has been inserted into subareas of production, especially in the process of product development. However, difficulties encountered in greening a company's logistics activities are also recognized in most cases. It is concluded that companies can overcome this challenge by adopting new concepts of green supply chain management. The notes highlight the observed distance between arguments in the international literature and the reality of Brazilian companies on the greening of manufacturing aspects.

Avaliação do gerenciamento e disposição final dos resíduos químicos de laboratórios do IGCE, UNESP - Rio Claro/SP

Laboratory of Chemical Waste Management programs are being implemented in various universities of the country and the world, in recognition of the urgent need to change the reality of disregard for the environment, together with objective responsibility of the generator, and especially the awareness of sustainability. Analysis and research laboratories involve a range of waste in developing their studies with intrinsic characteristics related to their form of generation. The amount of waste generated in this segment is negligible compared to industrial activities, but the environmental issue is that these residues do not have a standard technique for treatment due to the potential variation of its composition. This research project, aiming their suitability and continuous improvement, aims to diagnose and analyze the current situation of the management and disposal of chemical waste generated by the laboratories IGCE UNESP, Campus Rio Claro / SP. Universities, through their research, teaching and extension, end up generating potentially hazardous chemicals that may contaminate the environment when they are disposed of improperly, with no concern for the environment and / or public health. Aiming to assist in improvements with respect to this issue, the purpose of this study is to understand the management and disposal of chemical waste from the IGCE, laboratories UNESP - Rio Claro / SP, in order to discuss the situation of such waste, and present proposals to reduce generation of the same and minimizing the environmental impact, thereby increasing the local hygiene through proper disposal. Educação física e meio ambiente: algumas relações possíveis

The matter Environmental, some years ago, is gaining increasing importance in society. Considering this relevance, which connections can be built between Physical Education and the Environment? What concepts can serve as a basis for developing a method that makes possible rapprochement between these two topics? Therefore, this study aims to assess and implement physical education classes aggregating environmental matters in the context of bodily practices in order to build values and cause people to think more about this matter much discussed today. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative. The study was applied to class of 5° year of Physical Education of Elementary School from a state school in the municipality of Araraquara-SP. As a tool of analysis was used, all materials produced by the students throughout the process, taking into account the development and their participation during classes. Students understand some matters relating bodily practices and environment. It can be concluded although indiscipline was present from beginning to end of classes, students comply with expectations

Principais práticas e indicadores de sustentabilidade corporativa no setor de energia elétrica no Brasil

The questions involving environment and society have been increasingly considered into account when companies make business decisions. However many of them have not yet incorporated sustainability effectively in their business plan, sometimes performing only a few external actions and outside their area of expertise. The concept of corporate sustainability is within this context, and therefore the practice of companies consider, the environmental and social issues into their strategies, along with economic issues. This work has as main objective to identify what are the key indicators and related practices of the concept of corporate sustainability that has been introduced in companies on environmental reference of a certain sector of the Brazilian economy. The sector that was chosen is electric power, having enormous significance both in economy, society and environment. The results indicate that the main practice are in the areas of energy efficiency, security and good relationship with its key business stakeholders

It is unacceptable the practice of dentistry today as merely the solution of dental problems. The Dentist has a social responsibility to incorporate into your daily work concrete actions to reduce the impact of its production process. The purpose of this study is to characterize the development and application of performanceoriented model of social responsibility in dental practice, built to preserve the environmental cause in dentistry in order to trace change scenario that allows the environmental management without compromising the quality of services offered.

Jornalismo e meio ambiente: a contribuição dos meios de comunicação e o conceito de sustentabilidade

This article is a reflection about the contribution the social communication media can provide to the public debate about the environmental concerns. The Agenda XXI and several other UN documents call to the need to inform and educate the society. On the other hand, the Communication theories always have in common the imperative of the emitter to be understood by the recipient, in such a way that they can become change agents and not only observers. The first step is, therefore, to study the environmental question, adequately focus the theme and convey clarification. Concepções de munícipes da cidade de Rio Claro sobre a arborização urbana

Até a Revolução Industrial, no século XIX, não havia preocupação com a questão ambiental, mas após esse período e com a crescente urbanização, além de outros fatores, o meio ambiente passou a sofrer com problemas como desmatamentos, queimadas e extração de recursos naturais para além da capacidade de restauração. Assim, entramos nas décadas finais do século XX com os problemas ambientais constituindo em seu conjunto uma das mais importantes questões a serem enfrentadas pela sociedade. Dentre os vários temas e focos de estudo englobados pela questão ambiental, o tema da arborização urbana tornou-se uma discussão atual importante, pois ao mesmo tempo em que continua o crescimento urbano, é preciso manter e aumentar o contingente de árvores nas cidades. No entanto, sabe-se que nem sempre a população compreende essa necessidade e considera as árvores elementos importantes. Tendo em conta a contribuição que a educação deve fornecer para enfrentamento dos problemas ambientais, é importante que toda a população seja educada quanto a esse assunto. Diante disso, este trabalho tem a finalidade de investigar as concepções de munícipes da cidade de Rio Claro, ou seja, seus conhecimentos, ideias e opiniões sobre a arborização urbana, buscando identificar e analisar as opiniões, conhecimentos, crenças e atitudes que possuem frente a esse tema, tentando descobrir seus significados para assim, identificarmos possíveis causas que levam a aceitação ou não da presença de árvores na cidade, assim como detectar aspectos que podem favorecer ou desfavorecer a realização e a manutenção da arborização urbana na cidade. Esse trabalho poderá servir de subsídio para práticas educativas voltadas a esse tema, seja em escolas ou outros espaços educativos

We know that the Earth goes through natural cycles that influence its climate and the development of their societies. In recent decades, climate changes and nature began to call world attention to the unbridled exploitation that was carried by the current economic system, causing unrest among scientific, social, political and economic world. The theory that man causes a warming in global temperatures by the release of greenhouse gases made the headlines of major newspapers in the world. From there, it was only a matter of time before environmental concerns became ownership of capital by its excessive appropriation. The fear of nuclear threat by the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki left in fanfare the world, which together with the devastating impact of the exploitation of man and nature gave birth to the Environmental Revolution, a way of trying to change the development patterns of the time and behavior of the population. However, based on the historical form of capitalist domination, this was another measure that was apossada the economic system being transformed into economic value and political exchange. The origin of the conventions, meetings, conferences, parliaments set up to discuss environmental issues, eventually became forums of political and economic talks focused on environmental governance, valuing an asset that is public and everyone. Environmental and climate issue now has a value, thus turning the agenda on the agenda of the United Nations (UN) for its political and economic regulation in the form of global agreement.
