Background The seas around Scotland are rich and diverse – Scotland’s position at the edge of the continental shelf, the long coastline, large area of sea and the mixing of warm and coldwater currents combine to make its waters a special place for marine wildlife and habitats. Scotland has over 18,000 km of coastline and its inshore and offshore areas are among the largest of any EU country, representing 13% of all European seas. Scotland’s seas are of outstanding scenic, historical and cultural value and are part of the national identity at home and abroad. The Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and the UK Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 include new powers and duties to ensure that our seas are managed sustainably for future generations, integrating the economic growth of marine industries with the need to protect these assets. Measures to conserve Scotland’s marine natural heritage are based on a three pillar approach, with action at the wider seas level (e.g. marine planning or sectoral controls); specific species conservation measures (e.g. improved protection for seals); and through site protection measures - the identification of new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). To help target action under each of the three pillars, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) have generated a focused list of habitats and species of priority conservation importance - the Priority Marine Features (PMFs). The aim of the current study was to produce a descriptive catalogue of the Scottish PMFs (including component habitats and species where appropriate) to serve as a reference for future nature conservation action. Whilst derived from available existing accounts, the succinct 1-page descriptions are written from a Scottish perspective, refining, but clearly linking to more generic UK, EC or OSPAR (Oslo and Paris Commission) commentary. Available information on the geographic distribution of the features was collated as part of the project and a summary map is provided in each description. Main findings This project has generated a descriptive catalogue of the 81 PMFs that have been identified in the seas around Scotland (out to the limit of the UK continental shelf). The list comprises 26 broad habitats (e.g. burrowed mud), seven low or limited mobility species (e.g. ocean quahog) and 48 mobile species, including fish (e.g. blue ling) and marine mammals (e.g. minke whale). Information on the distribution of the PMFs was collated within a Geographic Information System (GIS). This is the first time that data about such a diverse range of Scottish marine nature conservation interests have been compiled within a single repository. These data have and will be used in conjunction with other contextual base-mapping to inform the development of nature conservation advice and commentary (e.g. in the production of the Scotland’s Marine Atlas - Baxter et al., 2011). The feature distribution mapping used in the production of this report is being made available to view online via the National Marine Plan Interactive web portal (NMPi - http://www.gov.scot/Topics/marine/seamanagement/nmpihome). As new or refined data on Scottish PMFs become available, these will be fed into updates to the project geodatabase and NMPi.

La desfiguración de sitios web es uno de los ataques más populares hoy en día y se basan en realizar un cambio en el código HTML de una página web, que se presenta como un cambio visual en la imagen del mismo. En el presente trabajo se propone desarrollar un sistema mediante el cual se puedan detectar y/o reportar dichos cambios de una forma temprana y automatizada. El Software Libre (SL) ofrece la posibilidad de crear soluciones y es el marco sobre el cual se propone una solución.

The Everglades R-EMAP project for year 2005 produced large quantities of data collected at 232 sampling sites. Data collection and analysis is an on-going long-term activity conducted by scientists of different disciplines at irregular intervals of several years. The data sets collected for 2005 include bio-geo-chemical (including mercury and hydro period), fish, invertebrate, periphyton, and plant data. Each sampling site is associated with a location, a description of the site to provide a general overview and photographs to provide a pictorial impression. The Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing Center(GISRSC) at Florida International University (FIU) has designed and implemented an enterprise database for long-term storage of the project�s data in a central repository, providing the framework of data storage for the continuity of future sampling campaigns and allowing integration of new sample data as it becomes available. In addition GISRSC provides this interactive web application for easy, quick and effective retrieval and visualization of that data.

O presente relatório enquadra-se no âmbito da unidade curricular de Projeto do mestrado em Engenharia Informática – Computação Móvel da Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. O objetivo deste relatório é descrever o processo referente aos 9 meses do estágio que foi realizado na empresa Sinmetro, Lda e o trabalho desenvolvido nesse estágio. Neste relatório poderão ser encontradas informações sobre o local de estágio, o trabalho desenvolvido e as conclusões tiradas após o término do estágio. O objetivo do estágio foi o de criar uma aplicação Web que facilite a gestão e controlo da produção de produtos pré-embalados por parte dos produtores e fornecedores, focando-se maioritariamente na apresentação de dados visuais na forma de tabelas e gráficos. Esta aplicação complementa o software ACCEPT, criado pela Sinmetro, apresentando muitas das funcionalidades já existentes, transportando-o para o ambiente Web.

Nesse contexto, o Estado, por interm??dio do governo eletr??nico, ?? o principal instrumento de que os cidad??os disp??em atualmente para enfrentar os desafios impostos pela globaliza????o, por meio de intera????es in??ditas da sociedade, empresas e governos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estabelecer rela????es entre a governan??a do setor p??blico e o governo eletr??nico, partindo-se de um marco referencial te??rico das duas ??reas de estudo. Para tanto, foram delineados seus escopos e limites de atua????o, instituindo-se v??nculos, de acordo com a????es do Governo Eletr??nico brasileiro: certifica????o digital; Portal da Transpar??ncia; vota????o eletr??nica; preg??es eletr??nicos e Portal da Previd??ncia Social. Com o aumento de utilização de sistemas de informação geográfica na internet, surge a distribuição de informação georreferenciada e procedimentos para a sua manipulação, estando o acesso a esta informação disponível em vários tipos de dispositivos, a partir de qualquer localização e a qualquer utilizador. Tipicamente, a informação geográfica é obtida e tratada por empresas especializadas. O papel dos utilizadores resume-se, na maior parte dos casos, a meros consumidores dessa informação. Neste trabalho é proposto uma plataforma especializada para localizações portuguesas, em que os utilizadores de forma colaborativa podem enriquecer(acrescentando, actualizando e removendo) um determinado conjunto de dados geográficos. Esta plataforma pretende dar suporte a web sites que pretendam disponibilizar informação georreferenciada de elementos de uma determinada categoria e de uma determinada zona geográfica. Colocar um mapa num web site, com as ferramentas disponibilizadas por algumas empresas como a Microsof(http://maps.live.com/) e o Google (http://maps.google.com/), é relativamente fácil, mas o mapa sem conteúdo não terá grande interesse, o processo de aquisição da informação pode ser demorado pois pode requerer bastante trabalho e somente estará actualizado aquando da elaboração. A plataforma proposta pretende ajudar nessa tarefa através de um repositório central que é gerido e acedido colaborativamente, permitido obter somente a informação pretendida, da categoria pretendida e para a zona geográfica pretendida. A plataforma proposta, juntamente com as funcionalidades disponibilizadas por empresas como a Microsoft e o Google, permitem de forma simples disponibilizar em Web sites mapas com a informação que possa ser útil aos utilizadores desse web site.

One of the major problems that prevents the spread of elections with the possibility of remote voting over electronic networks, also called Internet Voting, is the use of unreliable client platforms, such as the voter's computer and the Internet infrastructure connecting it to the election server. A computer connected to the Internet is exposed to viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, malware and other threats that can compromise the election's integrity. For instance, it is possible to write a virus that changes the voter's vote to a predetermined vote on election's day. Another possible attack is the creation of a fake election web site where the voter uses a malicious vote program on the web site that manipulates the voter's vote (phishing/pharming attack). Such attacks may not disturb the election protocol, therefore can remain undetected in the eyes of the election auditors. We propose the use of Code Voting to overcome insecurity of the client platform. Code Voting consists in creating a secure communication channel to communicate the voter's vote between the voter and a trusted component attached to the voter's computer. Consequently, no one controlling the voter's computer can change the his/her's vote. The trusted component can then process the vote according to a cryptographic voting protocol to enable cryptographic verification at the server's side.

OBJETIVO:Apresentar as estratégias de comunicação e recrutamento no Estudo Longitudinal de Saúde do Adulto (ELSA-Brasil) e discutir os resultados alcançados na constituição da coorte.MÉTODOS:As estratégias foram voltadas à divulgação, à institucionalização e ao recrutamento propriamente dito. As ações de comunicação pretenderam promover o fortalecimento de imagem institucional positiva para o estudo, a gestão de conhecimentos e o diálogo eficaz com seu público-alvo. Foi criado web site oficial visando dialogar com diferentes públicos, funcionar como difusor científico e contribuir para a consolidação da imagem do estudo perante a sociedade.RESULTADOS:Foram recrutados 16.435 mulheres e homens, servidores ativos e aposentados de seis instituições públicas de ensino e pesquisa para constituir a coorte de 15.105 participantes. As metas de recrutamento foram plenamente alcançadas nos seis centros, com leve predomínio de mulheres e daqueles mais jovens, e um pouco menos de servidores com menor escolarização.CONCLUSÕES:As estratégias utilizadas se mostraram adequadas e essenciais para o sucesso da captação e participação dos servidores.
