Entitled Joana s several mask: the melancholy in Perto do coração selvagem, the work is divided in six parts: the first one consists of the elaboration of a theoretical sketch about the melancholy that it offers the presuppositions that orientate the work, it is a short introduction about the study of the melancholy, a report until our time, the against-depressive ones and the arrival of the melancholy in Brazil and their particularities; the second part raises the theme of the melancholy, deepening its conception until what is called creative melancholy spread by Walter Benjamin, it serves as anchor for Clarice s writing and as a potential force for the processes lived by the characters of this writer; the third part examines Clarice Lispector s method emphasizing important points of production related to the theme of the melancholy, her style is the psychological analysis; the last one parts (fourth, fifth and sixth parts) are divided in topics that illustrate the conflicts, in most of the time contradictory, of the protagonist Joana, as well as, her difficult interaction with the things and the people that surround her. The fragmentary writing, the being's essential searches, the proximity with the death, the multiplicity of voices of feminine, De profundis, surrealist images, the incessant search for the thing , trips, epiphany, the flaw in the language, the taste of the badly, everything starting from melancholy - transformation and creation tool. The work about melancholy (Freud, Benjamin, Kristeva), it s place of ambiguous and contradictory movements. It is a trip that leads to several corporal and psychological sensations of Joana, enigma-scenes to be deciphered and conflicting images that make you wake up for a critical vision of the modern society. Taking as a starting point the reflection on the ornament, is delineated an interpretative analysis of delimitation between art and design in the extent of the aesthetics. Presupposing the ornament as an elementary and universal form of the all aesthetics’ manifestations, trying to work, through recent contributions and in an unified way, concepts regarding the aesthetics in parallel with the phenomenon of the perception. The ornament as element previously “ordered” front to the organization need that the interpretation demands, it constitutes fertile philosophical instrument, for all the art forms and of design, which seeks to provide an aesthetic sensation. Returned to the thoughtful function, the ornament has as essential purpose to stimulate the aesthetic experimentation, capable to induce the perception to subtler states of conscience similar of to the ecstasy, where the spirit from whom contemplates, can live experiences of extreme freedom and intense pleasure. . Establishing semiotics foundations capable of evidencing a function anagogic-therapeutics in the action of conceiving and to meditating, alternately, an object with function strictly ornamental (aesthetics), also intending the reflection of moral stamp on the ornamental concept of the decency as conciliatory solution in the intersection between art and design, concerning the creativity of the formative process.

Ärztliche Untersuchungsbefunde bei polizeilich auffälligen Personen unter dem Einfluss von Amphetaminderivaten

Das Auftreten von Psychostimulantien im Straßenverkehr und eine Beeinträchtigung der Fahrtüchtigkeit durch diese spielt in Deutschland zunehmend eine wichtige Rolle. Das Ziel der hier vorliegenden Arbeit war es retrospektiv die dokumentierten Ausfallserscheinungen von Personen unter Einfluss von Amphetaminderivaten anhand von ärztlichen Untersuchungsbögen, die bei polizeilich angeordneten Blutentnahmen ausgefüllt werden, des Zeitraums 2001 bis 2005 in Rheinland-Pfalz zu untersuchen. Aufgrund der hohen Fallzahlen konnten sehr strenge Auswahlkriterien angewandt werden, sodass lediglich reine Amphetaminderivat-Intoxikationen (Amphetamin, Methamphetamin, MDA, MDMA, MDE, MBDB) bei 923 Personen untersucht werden konnten. Es zeigten sich als verkehrsrelevante Beeinflussung die Erweiterung der Pupille mit einer geringeren Lichtreagibilität, eine Verlängerung des Drehnachnystagmus sowie eine Unsicherheit beim Rombergtest. Eine Dosis-Wirkungs-Beziehung konnte lediglich bei der Pupillenweite ansatzweise gefunden werden. Bei MDMA zeigte sich ein deutlich stärkerer Einfluss auf die Pupillenweitenregulation als bei Amphetamin. Die zur Detektion von alkoholbedingten Ausfallserscheinungen sinnvollen Gleichgewichts- und Koordinationstests waren im Falle der hier betrachteten Psychstimulantien nicht aussagekräftig. Es erscheint empfehlenswert die durchgeführten Untersuchungen mit Hilfe von einheitlichen Lichtverhältnissen und festgelegten Untersuchungsprozedere zu standardisieren ggf. auch durch die Einführung der Videookulographie. Die Einführung eines Reaktionstests sollte in Erwägung gezogen werden.

Eros and Transgression in an Age of Immanence: Georges Bataille’s (Religious) Critique of Kinsey

This paper explores the religious implications of eroticism in Western culture since the Sexual Revolution, a period at once applauded for its open and immanent view of sexuality and denounced for its shamelessness and promiscuity. After discussing the work and effects of Alfred C. Kinsey, the father of the Sexual Revolution, I focus on a critical appraisal of Kinsey written by French theorist Georges Bataille (“Kinsey, the Underworld and Work,” in L’Erotisme, 1957). Bataille situates contemporary Western sexuality within a larger historical movement towards the “desacralization” of all aspects of human life: sex, under the scientific gaze of the Kinsey team, became simply another “object” to be analyzed and classified, and “good” sex defined solely in terms of frequency and explosiveness of orgasm. For many, including Hugh Hefner, this approach to sex occasioned a refreshing awakening from the long dark night of Victorian sexual repression. However, as Bataille’s protégé Foucault has shown, the scientific approach to sexuality often masks a desire to control and delimit sexual behaviour, not “liberate” it. Moreover, Bataille makes the point that the desacralization of sexuality denudes sex of a vital component—eroticism—which is necessary for real pleasure and ecstasy. Beyond the “moral” critiques one often hears leveled against Kinsey and his work, Bataille provides a “religious” critique, one that stands, perhaps surprisingly, on the “near side” of sexuality.

Although multiple-response questions are quite common in survey research, Stata’s official release does not provide much capability for an effective analysis of multiple-response variables. For example, in a study on drug addiction an interview question might be, “Which substances did you consume during the last four weeks?” The respondents just list all the drugs they took, if any; e.g., an answer could be “cannabis, cocaine, heroin” or “ecstasy, cannabis” or “none”, etc. Usually, the responses to such questions are stored as a set of variables and, therefore, cannot be easily tabulated. I will address this issue here and present a new module to compute one- and two-way tables of multiple responses. The module supports several types of data structure, provides significance tests, and offers various options to control the computation and display of the results. In addition, tools to create graphs of multiple-response distributions are presented.

A presente dissertação é resultado de uma pesquisa acerca de um cisma pentecostal na Convenção Batista Brasileira, na década de 1960. No foco do conflito encontra-se um Movimento de Renovação Espiritual, que defendia uma experiência de êxtase religioso, designada de batismo com o Espírito Santo, como confirmação da relação do crente com Deus. A progressiva adesão de comunidades batistas a tal proposta transformou-a numa rede alternativa de poder que causou instabilidade nas relações de poder no interior da denominação batista no Brasil. A pesquisa reconstrói os embates decisivos deste episódio e ofereceu uma interpretação a partir das teorias de Michel Foucault e Michel de Certeau, na medida em que tenta decifrar os mecanismos institucionais de controle em confronto com as táticas das redes de poder. No contexto histórico brasileiro de efervescência não só religiosa, os mecanismos de vigilância da Convenção Batista Brasileira mostraram-se insuficientes para a manutenção da unidade ameaçada, uma vez que puniu os grupos opositores com a exclusão.(AU)
