ABSTRACT: In this paper, we present a quantitative comparison of circular and triangular gold nanodisks with the same length and thickness. The method of moments is used to solve numerically the scattering problem. With this model, we investigate the spatial near field distribution, spectral response, far field diagrams, and bandwidth wavelength of these particles. Our results show that the resonant wavelength and the near field enhancement and confinement of the triangular particle are larger than those for the circular particle, but the resonance bandwidth and scattering cross section of the triangular particle are smaller.

In this paper, we present an analysis of the resonant response of modified triangular metallic nanoparticles with polynomial sides. The particles are illuminated by an incident plane wave and the method of moments is used to solve numerically the electromagnetic scattering problem. We investigate spectral response and near field distribution in function of the length and polynomial order of the nanoparticles. Our results show that in the analyzed wavelength range (0.5-1.8) µm these particles possess smaller number of resonances and their resonant wavelengths, near field enhancement and field confinement are higher than those of the conventional triangular particle with linear sides.

The kind of rental arrangements for cropland vary widely in each locality and from one geographic area to another. What is desirable for one particular landlord/tenant relationship is not acceptable for others. The purpose of this publication is to help tenants and landlords develop fair cash-rent arrangements and assist them in making sound decisions based on a fair evaluation of resources. The first section addresses whether a fixed cash-rent lease arrangement should be used. Part II discusses how to develop a fair fixed cash rental rate, while Part III provides information on setting rent for other cropland, pasture, and buildings. Part IV outlines the advantages and disadvantages of flexible cash-leasing arrangements. Part V discusses the importance of developing a written lease agreement. A sample lease form also is included.

Inthispaperwestudygermsofpolynomialsformedbytheproductofsemi-weighted homogeneous polynomials of the same type, which we call semi-weighted homogeneous arrangements. It is shown how the L numbers of such polynomials are computed using only their weights and degree of homogeneity. A key point of the main theorem is to find the number called polar ratio of this polynomial class. An important consequence is the description of the Euler characteristic of the Milnor fibre of such arrangements only depending on their weights and degree of homogeneity. The constancy of the L numbers in families formed by such arrangements is shown, with the deformed terms having weighted degree greater than the weighted degree of the initial germ. Moreover, using the results of Massey applied to families of function germs, we obtain the constancy of the homology of the Milnor fibre in this family of semi-weighted homogeneous arrangements.

Connecting (small) family farmers to the emerging biodiesel industry requires careful design of the institutional arrangements between the producers of oil crops and the processing companies. According to institutional economics theory, the design of effective and efficient arrangements depends on production and transaction characteristics, the institutional environment, and the organizational environment supporting the transaction between producers and the industry. This paper presents a comparative study on two cases in the feedstock-for-biodiesel industry in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The two case studies represent the production and transaction system of soybeans (Glycine max L Merrill) and castor beans (Ricinus communis L). Important elements of effective and efficient institutional arrangements are farmer collective action, availability of technical and financial support, and farmer experience with particular crops. The modern GPUs are well suited for intensive computational tasks and massive parallel computation. Sparse matrix multiplication and linear triangular solver are the most important and heavily used kernels in scientific computation, and several challenges in developing a high performance kernel with the two modules is investigated. The main interest it to solve linear systems derived from the elliptic equations with triangular elements. The resulting linear system has a symmetric positive definite matrix. The sparse matrix is stored in the compressed sparse row (CSR) format. It is proposed a CUDA algorithm to execute the matrix vector multiplication using directly the CSR format. A dependence tree algorithm is used to determine which variables the linear triangular solver can determine in parallel. To increase the number of the parallel threads, a coloring graph algorithm is implemented to reorder the mesh numbering in a pre-processing phase. The proposed method is compared with parallel and serial available libraries. The results show that the proposed method improves the computation cost of the matrix vector multiplication. The pre-processing associated with the triangular solver needs to be executed just once in the proposed method. The conjugate gradient method was implemented and showed similar convergence rate for all the compared methods. The proposed method showed significant smaller execution time.

Organizational and institutional scholars have advocated the need to examine how processes originating at an individual level can change organizations or even create new organizational arrangements able to affect institutional dynamics (Chreim et al., 2007; Powell & Colyvas, 2008; Smets et al., 2012). Conversely, research on identity work has mainly investigated the different ways individuals can modify the boundaries of their work in actual occupations, thus paying particular attention to ‘internal’ self-crafting (e.g. Wrzesniewski & Dutton, 2001). Drawing from literatures on possible and alternative self and on positive organizational scholarship (e.g., Obodaru, 2012; Roberts & Dutton, 2009), my argument is that individuals’ identity work can go well beyond the boundaries of internal self-crafting to the creation of new organizational arrangements. In this contribution I analyze, through multiple case studies, healthcare professionals who spontaneously participated in the creation of new organizational arrangements, namely health structures called Community Hospitals. The contribution develops this form of identity work by building a grounded model. My findings disclose the process that leads from the search for the enactment of different self-concepts to positive identities, through the creation of a new organizational arrangement. I contend that this is a particularly complex form of collective identity work because it requires, to be successful, concerted actions of several internal, external and institutional actors, and it also requires balanced tensions that – at the same time - enable individuals’ aspirations and organizational equilibrium. I name this process organizational collective crafting. Moreover I inquire the role of context in supporting the triggering power of those unrealized selves. I contribute to the comprehension of the consequences of self-comparisons, organizational identity variance, and positive identity. The study bears important insights on how identity work originating from individuals can influence organizational outcomes and larger social systems.

Zusammenfassung:rnDie vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt das Design und die Synthese neuartiger Porphyrinoide anhand der Modifikation und der π-Systemausdehnung an der Peripherie des Porphyrin-Gerüsts. Die Darstellung künstlicher Porphyrine ist von Interesse, da neue physiko-chemischen Eigenschaften erhalten und untersucht werden können. Die in dieser Arbeit vorgestellten Porphyrinoide wurden mit Hilfe von modernen Synthesemethoden wie den metallkatalysierten Kreuzkupplungen und somit durch Aryl-Aryl Verknüpfungen aufgebaut.rnDer erste Teil dieser Arbeit befasst sich mit der Modifikation des Porphyrin-Gerüsts. Porphyrine bestehen aus jeweils zwei Pyrrol- und Pyrrolenin-Einheiten, welche systematisch ausgetauscht wurden. Die Pyrrol-Einheiten wurden durch Carbazol ersetzt, das sich formal vom Pyrrol durch Anfügen von zwei Benzogruppen ableitet und deshalb besonders gut geeignet ist. Die Pyrrolenin-Einheiten wurden aus folgenden Gründen durch andere Heterozyklen wie Pyridin, Pyrrol oder Triazol ersetzt: rn* Nachbildung des stabilen Porphyrin trans-NH-Tautomers (Carbazol und Pyridin)rn* Nachbildung von (NH)4-Liganden wie Calix[4]pyrrol (Carbazol und Pyrrol)rn* Vereinigung von N-H und C-H Wasserstoffbrücken-Donor-Einheiten in einem Makrozyklus (Carbazol und Triazol)rnDie Synthese eines drei-Zentren Porphyrinoids mit ausgedehntem π-System wird im zweiten Teil der vorliegenden Arbeit beschrieben. Dieses Thema basiert auf der aktuellen Entwicklung von nicht-Edelmetall basierten Katalysatoren für die Reduktion von Sauerstoff. Hier werden derzeit N4 makrozyklische Metallkomplexe, die mehrere katalytisch aktive Stellen aufweisen, untersucht. In diesem Zusammenhang, hat die Gruppe von Prof. Müllen einen neuartigen drei-Zentren-Komplex entwickelt. Ausgehend von diesen Erkenntnissen, dient diese Arbeit zur Verbesserung der katalytischen Aktivität des drei-Zentren-Komplex durch die Variation von verschieden Substituenten. Hierbei wurden zwei wesentliche Konzepte verfolgt:rn* Vernetzung durch die Bildung von Netzwerken oder durch Pyrolyse in der Mesophasern* Verbesserung des Katalysator-Trägermaterial-KontaktsrnNeben den Synthesen wurden die Eigenschaften und möglichen Anwendungen dieser neuartigen Materialen untersucht, wie z.B. als Liganden für Übergangsmetalle, als Anionenrezeptoren oder als Elektrokatalysatoren für die Reduktion von Sauerstoff. rn
