The cell block technique is widely used and recognized by health professionals, but lacks in information regarding the specific contribution of this method to veterinary medicine. The cytology of bone marrow and buffy coat (cellular portion of the hole blood) are widely used in the diagnosis of neoplastic and nonneoplastic diseases, and also for the detection of infectious agents. Although the importance of these samples is widely recognized, there is no information about the use of buffy coat and bone marrow samples in the cell block procedure among the research material used for this paper. This work aims for the cell block standardization for canine buffy coat and bone marrow samples. We collected 110 buffy coat samples and 44 bone marrow samples for the cell block preparation, and 68.2% of buffy coat and bone marrow proved to be viable at the end of the procedure. The 95% ethanol fixatives along with the 20 minute processing steps (absolute ethanol, xilol and paraffin, 3 of each) were crucial for the quality of the material both in microtomy and optical microscopy. Mechanical separation of the buffy coat proved to be easy and cheap and was used to compose the cell block technique. In this research we emphasized the importance of cell block standardization in order to develop and easy, inexpensive and reproducible method, regardless of any of the professionals' limitations.

Introduction: Spinal cord injury occurs due to interuption in nerve stimuli and could caused from traumatic and non-traumatic illnes. After spinal cord, there are problems in personal life activities affecting ou modifying personal life and provoking impacts in his own life. International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Healthy (ICF) consider and analyse more than the illness ou injury and include informations about functionality in differents domains as activities, participation and enviroment. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate functionality wheelchair athlets with spinal cord injury using ICF. Metodology: For this research, it was evaluated 60 athlets with spinal cord injury who were practicing wheelchair basqketball, using the Checklist corresponding to the main ICF categories and othes Identity Protocol with personal datas, lesion time, lesion level and functional classification from bwheelchair basketball. Results: In analyses, we identify in quartis data, that in Body Fucntion, median was 56,67% from all athlets with light and moderate qualifications; In Body Strutucture, the median was 60% for light qualifications; in Activities and Participation, this median corresponded to 91% and in Enviroment Factors, 51,67% feel that this enviroment was facilitator... Lymphoma represents the most prevalent hematopoietic malignancy in small animal medicine. It is highly responsible to chemotherapy and therefore several protocols are used as therapeutic tools. For that reason, the bone marrow transplantation, enshrined in human medicine through initial trial in canine patients, has increasingly become the focus of studies in order to make it a reality also in veterinary medicine. First, the treatment with the chosen chemotherapy protocol is made. As complete remission of lymphoma is observed, it must be initiated the bone marrow harvesting. The obtained material is subjected to the processes of erythrocyte depletion, plasma depletion, cryoprotectants addition, total nuclear cells counting, hematopoietic progenitor quantification, analysis of cell viability and freezing. Following that, with radiotherapy or application of cyclophosphamide, the conditioning phase of the patient who is receiving the transplantation is carried out. The bags containing hematopoietic stem cells are then thawed and transplanted into the receptor organism. Support with hematopoietic stem cells allows the use of lethal doses of chemotherapy or radiotherapy and has been shown to considerably raise the disease remission time and survival rate of the canine patients
