O efeito espetáculo de entretenimento no Talk Show de Jô Soares

Esta tese analisa o talk show de Jô Soares, tendo como suporte teórico-metodológico a teoria semiótica narrativa e discursiva desenvolvida por Greimas e seus colaboradores. A análise objetiva apreender a construção do talk show, evidenciando os componentes que o engendram como uma unidade textual singular e mostrar o funcionamento do programa, a partir do reconhecimento dos mecanismos discursivos de manipulação que são utilizados como estratégias persuasivas para produzir o efeito espetáculo de entretenimento distenso, com o intuido de seduzir seus destinatários. A tese está dividida em cinco capítulos. Destacamos os capítulos 4 e 5 destinados à análise. No capítulo 4, a análise examina a organização narrativa do espetáculo do Jô, mostrando o conjunto de elementos que o constituem e destacando as perfomances actanciais do sujeito do fazer, como herói da narrativa. Esse capítulo procura mostrar o que é o show, o que ele diz. No capítulo 5, a análise mostra a estrutura da comunicação, da intersubjetividade, própria do nível discursivo, identificando a dimensão argumentativo-persuasiva que revela o esquema da manipulação, as estratégias discursivo-persuasivas utilizadas pelo manipulador, para construir um espetáculo em conformidade com os efeitos pretendidos. Nesse nível de análise, procura-se mostrar como o show faz para produzir os efeitos almejados.

Twitter snapshots show Venezuela’s government isolated from its people

How isolated is Venezuela’s government from the people it supposedly represents? Very isolated indeed, according to a study commissioned by beyondbrics from Marco Ruediger and colleages at FGV DAPP, the department of public policy analysis at the Fundação Getulio Vergas in Rio de Janeiro. The study, derived from activity on Twitter, demonstrates the extreme polarisation of opinion in the country and suggests that Venezuela’s media, often either controlled or suppressed by the government, is increasingly lining up with opposition voices.

Show me the money and I will bring you the head: evaluation of the effects of self-interest and anger on whistleblowing

Though many of those who decided to report wrongdoings in their organizations were able to tell their stories (e.g. Bamford, 2014, Armenakis 2004), it is fair to say that there is still much left to uncover. The paper aims to contribute to the literature in three ways. First, it provides preliminary evidence that the wrongdoing linked with individual financial loss leads to higher whistleblowing rate. Secondly, it shows how the experience of anger is related to the higher likelihood to report the wrongdoer but only if the wrongful act is perceived as a cause of one’s financial loss. Finally, the paper establishes first steps for the future development of an experimental procedure that would enable to predict, and measure whistleblowing behavior in the lab environment.

Show de Mamulengos Heraldo Lins: construções e transformações de um espetáculo na cultura popular

The theater of puppets is one of the many expressions of popular culture which is marked by ongoing constructions and transformations in its symbolic representations as well as its characters and performances. In the city of Natal/RN, there is a manipulator called Heraldo Lins, an artist who operates such puppets, and has been performing his puppet since 1992. Lins has his own look at how he produces his performances and seeks to adjust his puppets to social and rentable contexts. Lins‟s performances are tailor-made in accordance with the request of his customers, as he makes up the passages and lines of his puppets according to his audience. This research aimed to study how the Heraldo Lins Mamulengos Show is built, especially its changes. We note that Lins chooses to dismantle the symbolic values of the tradition in the regular puppet theater once he adapts to modern patterns, placing himself between the traditional puppet theater and the cultural industry. Da poética das lágrimas a uma poética do riso: de Aristóteles ao One-man show

Since the 1970s, the world observes the fragmentation, hybridity, plurality and miscegenation that are taking over the scenic arts. The contemporary poetry feels free of the classical rules; theater no longer obeys the requirements of the poetic "manuals"; the rigid boundaries between genres disappears; artists cease to represent to the public to talk with him. In the last decades of twentieth century and in the twenty-first century, emerges the laughable phenomenon of One-man Show in the brazilian scene, object of this research, as a result of this evolution of the performing arts. It is a form of theater that emerged in the brazilian context, snatching public attention in alternative spaces, theaters and, as it should be, also on the Internet, often confused with the Stand-up Comedy. It is necessary a research that delimitate and pursue to identify the essential characteristics of the brazilian One- Man Show, not only by the absence of theoretical references concerning this, but also to understand some aspects of the brazilian scene and the situation of laughter and comedy in it. In the first chapter, a discussion about comedy and laughter in classical antiquity is presented, using the writings of Plato and Aristotle as a starting point; in the second, some of the main classical theories of laughter are reviewed, attempting to identify the general characteristics that enable to understand the construction of the comedy; the third chapter generally dicusses about the moment of the brazilian theatrical scene in which emerges the One-man Show; and in the fourth chapter, there is an explanation about this phenomenon and a description of the practical exercise titled Experimento One-person Show: Damas

Anonimato e fama no reality show BBB 3

In the present work we make an incursion about the Reality Show, in a specific study of the program Big Brother 3 (BBB 3) approaching the question of Anonymity and Fame, though of its Narratives Strategic. We search to explain phenomenon of transformations of anonymous people in celebrities, showing all net of relationships established by the participants of BBB 3, during the together in the setting house, stage of the tram that tells the daily one of a group of youngs. Supported in concepts of it and Reality Show, the work is link the theories semiotic of means, proposal for Algirda Julien Greimas. We stand out strategies of the program, showing that they on the basis of structuralize elements fiction that stimulate and seduce the receiving public. How empirical reference, the work bases on the program Big Brother Brazil, shown for the Rede Globo de Televisão opened canal, in period of January 14 to April 01 of 2003. Visibilidade espetacular e relações de poder no reality show BB9

Dans le présent travail, nous faisons une incursion sur l'exposition de la réalité, dans une étude spécifique du programme Big Brother Brasil 9, approcher le sujet de la visibilité et de l'exposition à travers les concepts de la culture, corps, à et communication. Nous avons lié l'him/it à la théorie de pouvoir proposée par Michel Foucault. Le corps, dans notre analyse, est prisonnier à ordinateur individuel propulse, en camionnant des transformations dans le filet de rapports établis pour les participants de BBB. Nous avons cherché, à travers un plurimetodológica de l'approche, expliquer comme ils sentent les rapports de pouvoir dans ce televisivo du programme/jeu et la transformation des gens anonymes dans célébrités, raconter, avec tout ce avec la logique d'une consommation d'images. Dans l´époque contemporain, les images sont mediateurs puissants de la communication et ils servent de support au midiatique des produits, dans la fiction et banalité ou actions différentes et expériences du quotidien. Comme référence de recherche empirique, le travail est basé au Big Brother-9, a exposé par le Globe Net de Télévision, canal ouvert, dans la période du 13 janvier à avril 07, 2009. Avant que les résultats aient obtenu par l'analyse, nous avons vérifié ce BBB-9 à travers les plusieurs épreuves, les preuves et situations ont créé au-dedans parmi les participants du jeu il met à jour des rapports de pouvoir et d'exclusion, dans le différend pour le succès individuel, le tout coût. Paracoccidioides brasiliensis antigen batches from the same isolate show immunological and biochemical differences

We investigated the occurrence of antigenic and biochemical variability among Paracoccidioides brasiliensis antigen batches prepared according to the same protocol. Initially (experiment 1), we analyzed two antigen lots of two human isolates (Bt1 and Bt2), cultured in two media (PYG: bactopeptone, yeast extract, glucose; MMM: McVeigh and Morton medium) in SDS-PAGE and in two immunological tests (immunodiffusion-ID and footpad swelling test-FPT). Afterwards (experiment 2), we compared the antigenic profile of three antigen hatches from three human isolates (Bt1, Bt2 and Bt3) by two-dimensional immunoelectrophoresis (2 D-IEP) against a reference system for P. brasiliensis antigens. In experiment 1, there were important intra- and inter-strain antigenic differences between batches of the fungal isolates cultured on both media. The block titration of the antigen batches for the immunological tests revealed correlation between protein concentration and biological activity in ID and no correlation in FPT. In experiment 2, the reference system for P brasiliensis showed 26 antigen peaks. There were important differences between batches prepared from the same isolate and between batches from different isolates. Our data suggested the occurrence of instability in the synthesis of antigenic components by a same P. brasiliensis isolate, under controlled incubation conditions.

Mouse extensor digitorum longus and soleus show distinctive ultrastructural changes induced by veratrine

We investigated whether veratrine (5 μl, 10 ng/kg) injected into the mouse extensor digitorum longus (EDL) (fast-twitch) and soleus (SOL) (slow-twitch) muscles provokes distinctive ultrastructural disturbances 15, 30 and 60 min later. The mitochondria in SOL were affected earlier (within 15 min) than in EDL. Swelling of the sarcoplasmic reticulum terminal cisternae was more marked in EDL than in SOL and caused distortion of sarcomeres so that fragmentation of myofilaments was more pronounced in EDL. Hypercontracted sarcomeres were seen mainly in SOL and veratrine caused infoldings of the sarcolemma only in this muscle. In both muscles, the T-tubules remained unaffected and by 60 min after veratrine most of the above alterations had reverted to normal. Pretreatment with tetrodotoxin prevented the alterations induced by veratrine. This suggests that most of the alterations resulted from the enhanced influx of Na+ into muscle fibers. These results emphasize the importance of considering the type of muscle when studying the action of myotoxic agents.

Nodule growth and nitrogen fixation of Calopogonium mucunoides L. show low sensitivity to nitrate

It is well established that nitrate is a potent inhibitor of nodulation and nitrogen fixation in legumes. The objective of this study was to demonstrate the relative insensitivity of these processes to nitrate with Calopogonium mucunoides, a tropical South American perennial legume, native to the cerrado (savannah) region. It was found that nodule number was reduced by about half in the presence of high levels of nitrate (15 mM) but nodule growth (total nodule mass per plant) and nitrogen fixation (acetylene reduction activity and xylem sap ureide levels) were not affected. Other sources of N (ammonium and urea) were also without effect at these concentrations. At even higher concentrations (30 mM), nitrate did promote significant inhibition (ca. 50%) of acetylene reduction activity, but no significant reduction in xylem sap ureides was found. The extraordinary insensitivity of nodulation and N2 fixation of C. mucunoides to nitrate suggests that this species should be useful in studies aimed at elucidating the mechanisms of nitrate inhibition of these processes. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
