The folding of HIV gp41 into a 6-helix bundle drives virus-cell membrane fusion. To examine the structural relationship between the 6-helix bundle core domain and other regions of gp41, we expressed in Escherichia coli, the entire ectodomain of HIV-2(ST) gp41 as a soluble, trimeric maltose-binding protein (MBP)/gp41 chimera. Limiting proteolysis indicated that the Cys-591-Cys-597 disulfide-bonded region is outside a core domain comprising two peptides, Thr-529-Trp-589 and Val-604-Ser-666. A biochemical examination of MBP/gp41 chimeras encompassing these core peptides; indicated that the N-terminal polar segment, 521-528, and C-terminal membrane-proximal segment, 658-666, cooperate in stabilizing the ectodomain. A functional interaction between sequences outside the gp41 core may contribute energy to membrane fusion. In this study we investigate salt effects on bundle formation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dispersed in an organic solvent, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP). Addition of NaI salt leads to self-assembly of CNTs into well-recognizable bundles. It is possible to control the size of the CNT bundles by varying the salt concentration. © the Owner Societies 2011.

This document describes the first bundle of core WP2 (user data analytics) client side components, including their specifications, usecases, and working prototypes. Included assets contain a description of their current status, and links to their full designs and downloadable versions. This deliverable only describes operational SW assets (even though beta) that are tested and documented. It should be noted, however, that various additional software assets (2.2d Cognitive Capacity Measurement and 2.3a Realtime Emotion Detection) are near completion for inclusion in games during the first pilot round. Those assets are still scheduled for inclusion in the final bundle deliverable D2.2.

This deliverable presents and describes the first delivery of assets that are part of the core social agency bundle. In total, the bundle includes 16 assets, divided into 4 main categories. Each category is related to a type of challenge that developers of applied games are typically faced with and the aim of the included assets is to provide solutions to those challenges. The main goal of this document is to provide the reader with a description for each included asset, accompanied by links to their source code, distributable versions, demonstrations and documentation. A short discussion of what are the future steps for each asset is also given. The primary audience for the contents of this deliverable are the game developers, both inside and outside of the project, which can use this document as an official list of the current social agency assets and their associated resources. Note that the information about which RAGE use cases are using which of these assets is described in Deliverable 4.2.

This document describes the core components to create customizable game analytics and dashboards: their present status; links to their full designs and downloadable versions; and how to configure them, and take advantage of the analytics visualizations and the underlying architecture of the platform. All the dashboard components are working with data collected using the xAPI data format that the RAGE project has developed in collaboration with ADL Co-Lab.

OSGi is a popular Java-based platform, which has its roots in the area of embedded systems. However, nowadays it is used more and more in enterprise systems. To fit this new application area, OSGi has recently been extended with the Remote Services specification. This specification enables distribution, which OSGi was previously lacking. However, the specification provides means for synchronous communication only and leaves out asynchronous communication. As an attempt to fill a gap in this field, we propose, implement and evaluate an approach for the integration of asynchronous messaging into OSGi.

This paper deals with the combination of OSGi and cloud computing. Both technologies are mainly placed in the field of distributed computing. Therefore, it is discussed how different approaches from different institutions work. In addition, the approaches are compared to each other.

The main purpose of this paper was to find a simple solution for load balancing and fault tolerance in OSGi. The challenge was to implement a highly available web application such as a shopping cart system with load balancing and fault tolerance, without having to change the core of OSGi.
