Scholarly communication over the past 10 to 15 years has gained a tremendous momentum with the advent of Internet and the World Wide Web. The web has transformed the ways by which people search, find, use and communicate information. Innovations in web technology since 2005 have brought out an array of new services and facilities and an enhanced version of the web named Web 2.0. Web 2.0 facilitates a collaborative environment in which the information users can interact with the information. Web 2.0 enables its users to create, annotate, review, share re-use and represent the information in new ways thereby optimizing the information dissemination

In this paper, we describe an interdisciplinary project in which visualization techniques were developed for and applied to scholarly work from literary studies. The aim was to bring Christof Schöch's electronic edition of Bérardier de Bataut's Essai sur le récit (1776) to the web. This edition is based on the Text Encoding Initiative's XML-based encoding scheme (TEI P5, subset TEI-Lite). This now de facto standard applies to machine-readable texts used chiefly in the humanities and social sciences. The intention of this edition is to make the edited text freely available on the web, to allow for alternative text views (here original and modern/corrected text), to ensure reader-friendly annotation and navigation, to permit on-line collaboration in encoding and annotation as well as user comments, all in an open source, generically usable, lightweight package. These aims were attained by relying on a GPL-based, public domain CMS (Drupal) and combining it with XSL-Stylesheets and Java Script.

An interactive tutorial on how to reference journal articles correctly. It begins with an example, and interactively draws the student through the stages of accessing the relevant information through to how to include the final citation in the bibliography. It concludes with a ‘test your knowledge’ set of activities. When you view this object note that the panel on the left generated by the repository can be dragged sideways to view the learning object full screen.

Behavioral neurosciences have evolved from other disciplines such as psychology, psychiatry and neurology, becoming a prominent area within general neuroscience. In mainstream psychology, neurosciences currently have an important role. In this paper we documented articles published in four Latin-American psychology journals and we classified these papers as empirical or theoretical. We analyzed the main topics covered in the behavioral neurosciences. Most of reported research used humans and rats as study subjects, although other species have also been used as models. Data suggest behavioral neurosciences currently play a growing and prominent role in Latin American psychology.

Delimitar el área de las dificultades del aprendizaje y conocer la panorámica actualizada de la investigación en esta área. El Current Index Journal Education (CIJE): todos los abstracts aparecidos bajo el epígrafe handicapped and gifted children, en el período 1980-1984, ambos inclusive. Estudio de la productividad de revistas. Impacto, vida media y ranking de las más productivas. Estudio de productividad de autores. Análisis de los autores más productivos. CIJE. Investigación bibliométrica: ley de Lotka, ley de dispersión de Bradford, índice de productividad total, índice de productividad fraccionaria, agrupamiento criterial de Crane. En cuanto a las revistas se codifican 81, con un total de 7287 artículos, siendo la media global de 90 artículos por revista. Una sola revista publica el 70 por ciento de la producción total. Con la ley de Bradford se hallan cuatro áreas de productividad: la primera área la forman cinco revistas que publican una media de 371'6 artículos. La segunda la forman 15 títulos con una media de 184'4 artículos, la tercera la forman 21 títulos con una media de 90 artículos. La cuarta la forman 40 títulos con una media de 42'2 artículos. Las revistas de las dos primeras áreas se publican todas en EEUU, excepto una. Para la jerarquización de autores se recurre al modelo de Crane: se encuentran 29 autores a los que incluir en grandes productores, 150 en el de productores moderados, 1220 aparecen como aspirantes y 5'190 como transeuntes. Los autores más productivos son: Frith, G., Kavale, K. A., Chandler, H. N., Torrance, E. Paul, Salend, S. J., Algozzine, B., Csapo, M., Forness, S., Stainback, W., Stainback, S., Ysseldike, J. Giordano, G. y Treffinger, D. Sería interesante realizar un estudio de las áreas temáticas.

It is indexed by author and keyword and contains the titles, authors, abstracts and keywords of every article from the following journals: • Building Research and Information (BRI) • Construction Management and Economics (CME) • Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (ECAM) • Journal of Construction Procurement (JCP) • Journal of Construction Research (JCR) • Journal of Financial Management in Property and Construction (JFM) • RICS Research Papers (RICS) The index entries give short forms of the bibliographical citations, rather than page numbers, to enable annual updates to the abstracts. Each annual update will carry cumulative indexes, so that only one index needs to be consulted.

Automatic keyword or keyphrase extraction is concerned with assigning keyphrases to documents based on words from within the document. Previous studies have shown that in a significant number of cases author-supplied keywords are not appropriate for the document to which they are attached. This can either be because they represent what the author believes the paper is about not what it actually is, or because they include keyphrases which are more classificatory than explanatory e.g., “University of Poppleton” instead of “Knowledge Discovery in Databases”. Thus, there is a need for a system that can generate appropriate and diverse range of keyphrases that reflect the document. This paper proposes a solution that examines the synonyms of words and phrases in the document to find the underlying themes, and presents these as appropriate keyphrases. The primary method explores taking n-grams of the source document phrases, and examining the synonyms of these, while the secondary considers grouping outputs by their synonyms. The experiments undertaken show the primary method produces good results and that the secondary method produces both good results and potential for future work.
