A new ''Ritz'' program has been used for revising and expanding the assignment of the Fourier transform infrared and far-infrared spectrum of CH3OH. This program evaluates the energy levels involved in the assigned transitions by the Rydberg-Ritz combination principle and can tackle such perturbations as Fermi-type resonances or Coriolis interactions. Up to now this program has evaluated the energies of 2768 levels belonging to A-type symmetry and 4133 levels belonging to E-type symmetry of CH3OH. Here we present the assignment of almost 9600 lines between 350 and 950 cm(-1). The Taylor expansion coefficients for evaluating the energies of the levels involved in the transitions are also given. All of the lines presented in this paper correspond to transitions involving torsionally excited levels within the ground vibrational state. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.

This study involved observational assessment of work posture in relation to recommended ergonomic posture the requirements necessary for ergonomic posture among students in the final year of a degree program at the School of Dentistry of Araraquara-UNESP/Brazil (n =73) and investigation of the association of work posture with sex, the type of procedure, four-handed dentistry, and the region of the mouth being treated. The work posture of the students during 250 clinical procedures was observed by means of pictures. Each procedure received a posture classification: Adequate, partially adequate, or inadequate. A descriptive statistical analysis was conducted. The prevalence of final posture classification was calculated using 95% confidence intervals and point estimate. Associations of interest were studied using the chi-square test, with a 5% significance level. It was concluded that the prevalence of procedures performed with partially adequate posture was high, and that the final work posture classification was not associated with the variables of interest. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group.

A presente dissertação é o resultado de uma investigação qualitativa que tem como objeto de estudo o Estágio Supervisionado na Licenciatura em Matemática. Foi desenvolvida junto ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Educação em Ciências e Matemáticas (PPGECM) do Núcleo de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento da Educação Matemática e Científica (NPDEMC), da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). A pesquisa busca discutir as possibilidades de desenvolvimento de práticas colaborativas nos estágio supervisionado em matemática, considerando as interações existentes entre a tríade licenciando/professor-formador/professor-escolar, concebendo o estágio como um elo de ligação entre a escola e a universidade. A investigação deu-se no período de maio a outubro de 2006, envolvendo três licenciandos de uma turma de Prática de Ensino/Estágio Supervisionado da Licenciatura Plena em Matemática da UFPA. Para analisar as possibilidades e limitações de constituição de práticas ou grupos colaborativos, dentro do Estágio Supervisionado em Matemática, buscando descrever a aproximação e contribuição entre o professor-formador, o licenciando e o professor-escolar, recorreu-se aos relatórios dos licenciandos e entrevistas semi-estruturadas realizadas com os professores-escolares e licenciandos. O referencial teórico está baseado em estudos e pesquisas de autores como Gonçalves (2000; 2006), Fiorentini (2004), Ferreira (2003), Garcia (1995), Gauthier et al (1998), Tardif (2002) e Pimenta e Lima (2004) dentro do contexto da formação de professores. Neste contexto pode-se contemplar possibilidades de produção e sistematização de conhecimentos, dando ênfase a um movimento que busque dar sentido àquilo que é produzido, tanto na escola, quanto na universidade, requerendo a criação e recriação dos saberes experienciais, mas almejando adentrar num coletivo de profissionais que discutam os problemas conjuntamente, inaugurando assim, a institucionalização de práticas, atitudes, crenças, que possibilitem a todos a compreensão do que sejam os saberes da ação pedagógica.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the local anesthetic solution, composed by Prilocaine 3% and felipressin 0,03 UI/ml, influence on the alveolar repair process in rats after dental extraction. This research was previously approved by the Ethic Committee in Research of the Masters Degree Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Marília University (UNIMAR), Marília, São Paulo, Brazil. It was an experimental, randomly controlled study, with bifactorial analysis (group control versus experimental group, in function of the postoperative times (2 X 4)). For the accomplishment of this study 32 rats were used (Rattus norvegicus, albinus, Wistar), males, adults, weighing between 280 and 320 grams. The animals were selected and divided into Group I (control) and Group II (Citocain 3%® - Prilocaine 3% with felipressin 0,03UI/ml) with 16 rats each; being four animals of the Group I and four of the Group II, destined to the euthanasia in the postoperative periods of 3rd, 7th, 15th and 24th days. The histological analysis with base in the developed methodology, allowed us to conclude that the anesthetic solution of Citocain 3%® applied with gauze compress on the surgical dental wound, produced tissue events that committed the basic biological principles, that are responsible for the regeneration of the gingival epithelium and the alveolar process repair in rats. The Group I presented better results in the alveolar repair when compared to the Group II.

This paper presents an alternative way of working with the theme of symmetry in the elementary school classroom. The proposal is based on qualitative research developed in the Professional Masters degree program in Science and Mathematics Teaching. We conducted field-work consisting of applying a sequence of activities for students in the seventh grade. The sequence was developed from the perspective of mathematics teaching using problem solving, taking into consideration aspects relevant to the study of geometry, such as intuition and visualization. In carrying out the activities, the dialogues between students and teacher were recorded and later transcribed. For data analysis we used the procedures of phenomenology. When interpreting the data, we observed that the teaching of symmetry using problem-solving enhances learning. We also found that, in an investigative environment, students are able to identify properties, argue about the geometric characteristics, and justify their opinions.

In 2009, agricultural producers participating in federal farm programs had to decide between staying in the existing Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP), and the new Average Crop Revenue Election Program (ACRE). If producers chose to keep the DCP, their farm income safety net is strictly tied to crop prices, with a combination of marketing loans, counter-cyclical payments and direct payments. If producers chose the new ACRE program, they changed their farm income safety net to a combination of price and revenue. The new ACRE component is based on revenue and replaces the counter-cyclical payment. The other parts of the safety net for ACRE participants remain tied to price, albeit at lower levels (direct payments reduced 20 percent, marketing loan rates reduced 30 percent).

We have previously isolated anti-FcepsilonRIalpha autoantibodies from phage libraries of healthy donors and urticaria patients. Strikingly, the same antibody, LTMalpha15, was isolated from both libraries. Sequence analysis revealed a germline configuration of the LTMalpha15 variable heavy (V(H)) chain with a slightly mutated variable light (V(L)) chain supporting its classification as a natural autoantibody. Distribution analysis of anti-FcepsilonRIalpha autoantibodies by functional or serological tests delivered conflicting data. For this reason we have developed a new real-time PCR to analyse the distribution of LTMalpha15V(H) in healthy donors and urticaria patients. Our new bioinformatic program permitted the design of a minor groove binder (MGB) TaqMan probe that specifically detected the LTMalpha15V(H). We were able to demonstrate a broad range of rearranged V(H) gene copy number without any correlation to the state of health. Monitoring LTMalpha15V(H) gene copy number in a single donor over a period of 70 days revealed a time-related fluctuation of circulating B cells carrying LTMalpha15V(H). We propose that our real-time PCR may serve as a model for the quantification of natural antibody sequences at a monoclonal level.

Education in Geographic information science (GIS/LIS) happens in the United States both within surveying-related academic programs and in other academic programs that use spatially oriented data and information. This article presents an overview of two such programs. The first is a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Geographic Information Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The second is a concentration with a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut (UConn). Geographic information science is the primary focus of the Texas A&M program, whereas GIS/LIS is an emphasis of the UConn program. Both approaches are presented for comparison.
