Treatise on preservation of eggs; refers to various methods of preserving eggs dating back to the Roman Empire and Renaissance; describes in detail methods in use in England and France during late 1700-early 1800; includes citations from numerous experts (i.e. Reaumur, Parmentier, European agricultural journals, etc.). Footnote on p. 55 from R.D. Peschier of Geneva, doctor of chemistry and medicine, cites an example of eggs preserved for six years in lime-water.

The livestock system in Brazil mainly uses the pastures as source of food to cattle, and the marandu palisade grass is one of the main forage crop plants. In order to supply the demand of these animals in amount of forage, it is necessary to adopt management strategies aimed at increased forage production with adequate characteristics to animal intake. In this context, is requiered to identify management strategies of defoliation that improve tillering of marandu palisade grass during the seasons. There is a chance that the maintenance of lower marandu palisade grass during the fall and winter compared to spring and summer, increase the incidence of light at the base of the plants and, indeed, encourage tillering and modify the structure of the pasture compared to maintain marandu palisade grass with constant height along these stations.

This study aimed at identifying morpho-species of microplankton dinoflagellates (> 20 μm) of the order Peridiniales and Prorocentrales off Santa Marta Grande Cape, CSMG (SC, 28º 40’ S) and Albardão-Chui, AC ( r S, 34º 40’ S) during oceanographic cruises conducted in winter 2005 and summer 2007. Plankton samples were obtained by vertical net (mesh size 20 μm) hauls preserved with formaldehyde 4% and analyzed using the inverted microscope equipped with a digital camera. The identification of Peridiniales species was based on the number and morphology of thecal plates enhanced with Calco Fluor White M r 2 whenever necessary and the identification of Prorocentrales was based on cell size, shape, presence of apical processes, pore pattern and marks at the intercalary band. We identified 25 species, including Protoperidinium (11), Prorocentrum (6), Corythodinium (3), Podolampas (2), Oxytoxum (2) and Heterocapsa (1). Prorocentrum species were widely distributed on the continental shelf of southern Brazil, while Peridiniales species were mainly found off Albardão-Chui during winter, especially under the influence of the plume of La Plata River. Oxytoxum milneri was the first time recorded in southern Brazil, while Protoperidinium cassum var. cassum , P. curtipes and Heterocapsa triquetra , were first registered in Brazil.

The increasing advancement of agriculture makes providing adequate conditions for the growth and development of plants is the primary purpose of soil management systems. Much of the success of PD is attributed to cultural remains left by cover crops that do not require high nitrogen inputs and can thus be used to reduce nitrogen input in the agro- ecosystem. The nitrogen is one of the elements applied in agriculture, it is absorbed in higher quantities and limiting the yield of grain crops such as corn. Thus, there has been the influence of the no-till and conventional tillage combined with different crops of winter cover and bare soil when in succession to corn, on mineral nitrogen content. The experimental work was made at the experimental station of the Agronomic Institute of Paraná - Iapar. The implemented design was blocks at random split plot with three replications in factorial 6 x 2 x 3 x 5. The main plots were as treatment, beyond the bare soil, 5 winter species (ryegrass, vetch, vetch + oat, oat and radish), while in the subplots were used two tillage systems (No-till and conventional tillage). Three collections made were (before management, the urea before and after the urea), these being held in 5 depths (0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm). So a layer 0-5 cm and a que presents increased amount to NH4 + ion. The use of associated PD system in the presence of winter cover crops decreased as NO3 - losses in soil profile.
