Gender and public relations: critical perspectives on voice, image and identity

Although there is a small body of feminist scholarship that problematizes gender in public relations, gender is a relatively undefined area of thinking in the field and there have been few serious studies of the socially constructed roles defining women and men in public relations. This book is positioned within the critical public relations stream. Through the prism of 'gender and public relations', it examines not only the manipulatory, but also the emancipatory, subversive and transformatory potential of public relations for the construction of meaning. Its focus is on the dynamic interrelationships arising from public relations activities in society and the gendered, lived experiences of people working in the occupation of public relations. There are many previously unexplored areas within and through public relations which the book examines. These include: • the production of social meaning and power relations. • advocacy and activist campaigns for social and political change. • the negotiation of identity, diversity and cultural practice. • celebrity, bodies, fashion and harassment in the workplace. • notions of managing reputation and communicating policy. In extending the field of inquiry, this edited collection highlights how gender is accomplished and transformed, and, thus how power is exercised and inequality (re)produced or challenged in public relations. The book will expand thinking about power relations and privilege for both women and men and how these are affected by the interplay of social, cultural and institutional practices. O jingle e outras práticas culturais dos vendedores de rua de Aracaju/SE

This masters dissertation constitutes in a mapping with base in a field research carried in the streets of commercial center and adjacencies of the Aracaju city, capital of Sergipe state, located in Brazilian‟s Northeast. This is a study about the jingle and others social practices found in the day-by-day of streets by the streets sellers. There is a clear intention of consider the pregão singed by sellers of the street how a jingle that is produced, transmitted and accepted in a means social, characterized how cultural manifestation study. Thus, this ethnography aims to observe the use of the jingle and other cultural practices carried out by street vendors, showing how they are produced, disseminated and consumed in everyday life, as a way to do it. These practices that occur in cities since ancient times continue to occur in all Brazilian cities, including the capital cities, although in some cases, some of them such as the jingle, they get more scarce. Specifically aimed at rescuing the memory of these cultural practices, considering them as "tactics" of practitioners, a resistance of street vendors, individuals, "ordinary" real "anonymous wanderers" in the face of pressure from a dominant force and uneven. In this perspective, the present study is based on the theories of Certeau (1990, 1996) and Coradini (1995) on daily life in the cities, seeking to demonstrate how street vendors engage in a "diverted", subversive, selling its products, creating and using the jingle and other similar relationships that are part of common culture, introducing itself as "ways of doing" that are appropriate or re-appropriated, consumed or accepted in joints over time and within the "anthropological urban spatiality

Em nome da ordem: a campanha de pé no chão na visão dos inquisidores

The main goal of this work is analyze the way which the Natal City Prefecture was constructed as a place of subversion by those we call defenders of the order, in the period right after the outbreak of military coup in 1964. To reach it, the main resource of search was the Relatório Subversão no Rio Grande do Norte , document produced from the investigations realized in Natal City Prefecture as a result of the Commission of Inquiry s work, established by the governor Aluízio Alves to determine the subversion in Rio Grande do Norte s society. Based on the anti-comunist speech. That document introduces other image of the Prefecture, which activities developed by de second Djalma Maranhão administration (1961-1964), specially those developed in the educational area, as the campaign De Pé no Chão Também se Aprende a Ler , were considered subversive , communist , dangerous , threatening , names that served as backing to embed Natal City Prefecture in the general view about subversion existing in Rio Grande do Norte, according to the repression speech in this initial period of military regime. Travestilidades nômades: a explosão dos binarismos e a emergência queering

Apresentamos neste artigo algumas problematizações a respeito da expressão travesti, que, não se apoiando em um modelo único de referência sexual e de gênero para sua efetivação, nos permitiria falar em processos de 'travestilização'. Esses processos se constituem através de dispositivos em que lineamentos duros, flexíveis e de fuga participam da criação de seus corpos, desejos e prazeres, transitando entre efeitos-consequências de discursos normativos e singularizadores. Sua circulação no mundo coloca em xeque as matrizes binárias heteronormativas do sistema sexo/gênero/desejo, que se desmancham diante de modos de subjetivação orientados por potências subversivas criadoras de novos campos possíveis de existencialização. Nessa perspectiva, queremos mostrar que as expressões sexuais e de gêneros das travestis formulam novas questões a respeito dos modelos identitários vigentes, demonstrando que a coerência e a inteligibilidade impostas pelos códigos heteronormativos precisam ser urgentemente revistas, de modo a questionar a respeito da ordem social que apresenta o gênero associado ao sexo reprodutivo, para ressignificar as expressões sexuais, gendradas e subjetivas, em sua processualidade histórica que explode os binarismos, despreza os universais e desmancha o absolutismo da ideia de verdade, enraizados nos sistemas binários de pensamentos sedentários, fechados, universais e a-históricos.

Performatividade homoerótica em práticas discursivas docentes

Práticas discursivas sobre o homoerotismo e docência são objetos de desejo nesta Tese produzida a partir do trabalho com narrativas docentes. Ao adotar-se uma investida em jogos discursivos subversivos que desmargeiam os centros e povoam as periferias na produção epistemológica, adveio perscrutar sobre docência e diferença e procurar em narrativas a produção da performatividade homoerótica na experiência do ensino superior. No encalce deste intento, rastros levaram ao pós-estruturalismo como teorização da diferença na busca de composições em devires e conduziram à produção de uma escritura que ocorre em uma conjunção epistemológica que considera a sua fragmentação, inconstância, deslizamentos e interpelamentos arquitetados enquanto tirocínios discursivos, orientados, e por vezes desorientados, por entendimentos deleuzianos e foucaultianos. Nas linhas de fuga dessas orientações se investe em uma experiência de escritura cartográfica multiplicadora de acontecimentos em jogos intensos de processualidades e experimentações para produzir uma poética da escrita com invenções, contos, poesias, devaneios e divagações. Atravessa o estudo a compreensão da experiência homoerótica na docência enquanto lugar da abjeção virtualizado e atualizado num continuum de problematizações e recolocações, achados e criações. A experiência homoerótica na docência opera, portanto, como um espaço móvel, provocativo, perturbador, instável e fronteiriço, atravessado por práticas discursivas que lhe imprimem governamento, performatividade e desproblematização, porém, lugar de onde emerge a possibilidade de dissensos. Por isso, quando o contrassenso da significação se instala no sítio da experiência docente, as performances são deslocadas e passam a operar de forma produtiva forjando sujeitos fronteiras, entre/através, na travessia de dois lugares simbólicos – o homoerotismo e a docência.

1964 – Práticas jurídicas contra o crime político em Londrina

Este artigo traz uma análise preliminar de um processo-crime de motivação política estabelecido no contexto do embate pela “Revolução” em Londrina em 1964, o qual resultou em um rico corpus documental sobre os modos de compreensão daquela sociedade, em que, de parte a parte, representantes das instituições jurídico-policiais e indivíduos organizados em entidades tidas por subversivas confrontaram-se pela produção de um discurso que persuadisse sobre a verdade dos acontecimentos na defesa de uma sociedade democrática. A partir do momento em que foram recuperados como fontes, os conflitos pelo estabelecimento de uma “verdade” dos fatos nos processos-crime dizem respeito também ao processo de consolidação de uma memória histórica hegemônica sobre o regime militar. É nesse sentido que buscamos trazer novos elementos para uma discussão candente uma vez mais para a sociedade brasileira.

O leitor no tribunal subversivo de João Guimarães Rosa: a benfazeja à luz da teoria do efeito

By understanding the reader as a central link to the meaning of the literary text and with the opportunity to extend the relevance of such studies, this work aims at analyzing the short story A benfazeja, by João Guimarães Rosa, with subsidies from Aesthetic Response Theory, by Wolfgang Iser. It investigates how structures of the text conduct the reading, in a subversive manner, by technique, repertory of themes, allusions, inversions of expectations, determinations and “gaps”. It verifies that there is an allegorical court with a persuasive rhetoric, in which the defense lawyer not only intends to protagonist MulaMarmela’s absolution, but also an invitation to new ways to see and judge to implied reader, beyond obvious reason and prejudice.
