Influência dos flavonoides cítricos na inflamação e controle da obesidade

Nas últimas décadas, o mundo tem vivenciado um grande aumento da prevalência de obesidade. Entre os fatores que levam a esta condição, estão o sedentarismo e o consumo de alimentos altamente calóricos. A obesidade é considerada uma condição de inflamação crônica de baixo grau, que leva ao desenvolvimento de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis, como diabetes mellitus tipo 2 e hipertensão arterial. O consumo de compostos biologicamente ativos, dentre eles os flavonoides cítricos, tem mostrado ter papel importante no controle da inflamação, e de alterações no metabolismo decorrentes do excesso de peso e gordura corporal. Neste trabalho foram revisados trabalhos sobre flavonoides cítricos e seu papel na inflamação relacionada à obesidade, assim como nas alterações decorrentes desse processo. Os artigos foram divididos em dois grupos: suplementação com extratos de flavonoides e com flavonoides isolados. Nos dois grupos os trabalhos demonstraram o papel benéfico dos flavonoides cítricos no metabolismo lipídico, e diminuindo marcadores biológicos de inflamação, como proteínas e enzimas, tanto nos modelos experimentais quanto em linhagens celulares de adipócitos e hepatócitos. A redução de massa corpórea também foi observada em ratos e camundongos suplementados com os flavonoides cítricos. Entretanto, no que concerne à obesidade e diminuição da massa corpórea em humanos, os trabalhos são inconclusivos até o momento.

Esta reflexão se propõe estudar os procedimentos pelos quais esses indícios habilitam a reconstrução da trama e a costura com a história do país que os autores propõem por caminhos originais.

As a hybrid genre, the narrative of Carlo Levi is an objective account and subjective elaboration that are equalized in a literary form. Written between 1943 and 1944, the book evokes with an atmosphere of memoir the period of 1935 and 1936, the writer’s exile. The film based on the narration fragmentizes the daily life of the problematic region and highlights the truth aimed by the discourses composed in times of crises, reinforced by action and expression without provincialism and also without a compensating aristocratic pose. It is possible to see some incapacity of the film by Rosi, natural to a certain degree, to translate the synthesis of literary treatment and socio-historical reflection. For this reason it is necessary to read the adaptation as an attitude about the literary matter and the result of historical experience. The memoir character relies on the artifice that makes good use of the book’s opening, the author’s short monologue, its narrative frame. Movimento dos olhos e controle postural

The control of stances such as the upright stance seems not to have a purpose in itself; this control could facilitate the execution of other simultaneous tasks, the so-called suprapostural tasks. The goal of this study was to determine the effects of saccadic eye movements on the control of posture. Twelve adult participants had their body oscillations analyzed while standing upright, for 70 s, in the postural conditions of feet apart and feet together, performing fixation in the central target or horizontal saccadic movements, in the conditions slow (0,5 Hz) and fast (1,1 Hz). The results showed that saccadic movements, independently of their frequency, strongly reduced trunk and head oscillations in the anterior-posterior (AP) axis. In this axis, there was an effect of feet position only in head oscillation. In the medio-lateral (ML) axis, the results showed a strong effect of feet position with body oscillation decreased in the condition of feet apart. The effect of the visual task in the ML axis occurred only for trunk oscillation, not reaching significance level in the pairewise comparisons. In the AP axis, the data corroborate a facilitatory explanation of the control of posture: the reduction in body oscillation limited the variations of the stimulus image projected on the retina, facilitating the execution of saccadic movements as compared to fixation. In the ML axis, the effect of reducing the basis of support was more evident than the effect of saccadic movements, suggesting that the available resources were used primarily for the postural task in detriment of the visual task. Additionally, aspects like attentional focus and sensory information pick up are discussed as mechanisms involved in this task

Frequência fenotípica de asas e olhos ao longo de gerações em populações de laboratório de chrysoperla externa (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae)

In massal rearing of natural enemies with the goal of biological control, the procedures adopted for establishment and maintenance of the individual founders of the colonies may have undesirable effects on population genetic structure of laboratory. This situation influences the success of rearing and effectiveness in the field. The objective of this study was to evaluate, along of generations two laboratory populations (Jaboticabal and Piracicaba) of Chrysoperla externa (Hagen) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae), founded with different numbers of adults (1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 couples), the frequency of morphological variants, size of wings and eye color, such as parameters for inferences about the homozygosity degrees. For eye color were assessed the frequency, while for the size of wings was measured the width and the length of the right mesothoracic wings. The eye color variants for C. externa populations may be monitored in the laboratory aiming at detecting inbreeding, whereas the measurements of length and width of wings should not be adopted for this purpose.

Uso de plasma rico em plaquetas em úlceras de córnea em cães

This study aims to clinically and macroscopically evaluate the adjuvant therapy with platelet-rich plasma in the form of eyedrops or clot, for corneal ulcers in dogs treated at the Veterinary Ophthalmology Service. We analyzed 20 eyes diagnosed with ulcerative keratitis, divided into two experimental groups. The eyedrop group (GC) was composed of eyes treated topically with eyedrops of autologous plateletrich plasma (PRP), and the clot group (GT) was composed of eyes treated with a platelet-rich clot and covered with a third eyelid for retention of the clot. The groups were evaluated by clinical and macroscopic analysis and by the analysis of epithelial defect reduction, at different times, at three, five, ten, 15 and 30 days, except for the third day in GT. The coverage of the third eyelid was removed on the fifth day. In both groups the inflammation signs reduced, there was an improvement in ocular sensibility and proper repair of epithelial defect. All GT eyes and 70% GC eyes showed complete healing on the fifth day, the remainder of GC completed healing on the tenth day. PRP in the form of eyedrops and clot is an excellent adjuvant therapy to be instituted in the clinical treatment for corneal ulcer in dogs, because it decreases the inflammatory signs and the ocular pain and it potentially assists in healing epithelial defects.
