ZnCdO nanowires with up to 45% Cd are demonstrated showing room temperature photoluminescence (PL) down to 2.02 eV and a radiative efficiency similar to that of ZnO nanowires. Analysis of the microstructure in individual nanowires confirms the presence of a single wurtzite phase even at the highest Cd contents, with a homogeneous distribution of Cd both in the longitudinal and transverse directions. Thermal annealing at 550 °C yields an overall improvement of the PL, which is blue-shifted as a result of the homogeneous decrease of Cd throughout the nanowire, but the single wurtzite structure is fully maintained.

After the extensive research on the capabilities of the Boundary Integral Equation Method produced during the past years the versatility of its applications has been well founded. Maybe the years to come will see the in-depth analysis of several conflictive points, for example, adaptive integration, solution of the system of equations, etc. This line is clear in academic research. In this paper we comment on the incidence of the manner of imposing the boundary conditions in 3-D coupled problems. Here the effects are particularly magnified: in the first place by the simple model used (constant elements) and secondly by the process of solution, i.e. first a potential problem is solved and then the results are used as data for an elasticity problem. The errors add to both processes and small disturbances, unimportant in separated problems, can produce serious errors in the final results. The specific problem we have chosen is especially interesting. Although more general cases (i.e. transient)can be treated, here the domain integrals can be converted into boundary ones and the influence of the manner in which boundary conditions are applied will reflect the whole importance of the problem.

A distributed power architecture for aerospace application with very restrictive specifications is analyzed. Parameters as volume, weight and losses are analyzed for the considered power architectures. In order to protect the 3 phase generator against high load steps, an intermediate bus (based in a high capacitance) to provide energy to the loads during the high load steps is included. Prototypes of the selected architecture for the rectifier and EMI filter are built and the energy control is validated.

Aumentar el número de gazapos destetados por coneja y parto es un objetivo importante para incrementar la rentabilidad del sector cunÃcola industrial con efectos directos. La mejora genética de la prolificidad en las lÃneas de madres ha demostrado ser una estrategia eficaz para alcanzar este objetivo; sin embargo otras vÃas, como la influencia de diferentes fuentes de grasa en las dietas de conejas reproductoras, han sido muy poco estudiadas. Los ácidos grasos (AG) n-3 interfieren en la fisiologÃa reproductiva porque pueden modular las enzimas involucradas en el metabolismo de las prostaglandinas y del colesterol que es el precursor de los esteroides como la progesterona (revisado en Gulliver et al., 2012). El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar si la suplementación con AG poliinsaturados (PUFA) n-3 de las dietas de conejas durante la recrÃa puede afectar a la tasa de ovulación y a la sÃntesis esteroidogénica ovárica determinada mediante las concentraciones de progesterona plasmática.

Kinépolis Madrid es uno de los mayores complejos cinematográficos del mundo contando incluso con records Guinness como el del complejo cinematográfico con mayor número de butacas del mundo. Está compuesto por 25 salas con capacidades entre 220 y 996 espectadores. Todas estas salas están equipadas con las últimas tecnologÃas de sonido e imagen y están adecuadamente acondicionadas para que las caracterÃsticas acústicas de las mismas sean óptimas; no obstante, en el complejo no disponen de información sobre estas caracterÃsticas. El presente PFG tratará de medir algunos de estos parámetros acústicos como la claridad, la definición o la inteligibilidad de la sala, pero se prestará especial atención al tiempo de reverberación de la misma ya que es uno de los parámetros más significativos a la hora de caracterizar acústicamente una sala. En concreto, se trabajará sobre la sala número 3, con capacidad para 327 espectadores, lo que la convierte en una de las salas de medio tamaño del recinto. Por otro lado, además de medir las caracterÃsticas acústicas de la sala, se medirán las dimensiones de la misma para, posteriormente, construir dos modelos virtuales de la misma. Uno de ellos será un modelo detallado, mientras que el otro será más simple. A partir de estos modelos, se realizarán simulaciones para obtener los mismos parámetros medidos en la sala real. Una vez se obtengan los parámetros acústicos de ambas maneras, se compararán las medidas entre sÃ, estudiando si las diferencias entre los medidos y los simulados superan ciertos umbrales que estimarán si los modelos creados por ordenador realmente pueden representar a la sala real, o no. Por último, se obtendrán conclusiones para saber cuál de los dos modelos creados se acerca más a las medidas reales, cómo realizar las simulaciones, qué tipos de señal utilizar en las medidas y qué parámetros tener en cuenta, para asà facilitar el trabajo en futuras experiencias ahorrando tiempo. ABSTRACT. Kinepolis Madrid is one of the largest cinema complexes in the world, having won even a Guinness as the cinema complex with more seats in the world. It consists of 25 cinemas whose capacities are between 220 and 996 people. All these cinemas are fully equipped with the latest audio and video technologies and are appropriately conditioned for the optimal acoustic characteristics; nevertheless, the resort does not have information on these features. This PFG’s aim, is trying to measure some acoustic parameters such as clarity, definition or intelligibility of the room, but paying special attention to the reverberation time since, it is one of the most significant acoustic parameters to characterize a room. In particular, the study will be developed at the cinema number 3 with capacity for 327 spectators, which turns it into one of the rooms of average size of the enclosure. In addition to measuring the acoustic characteristics of the room, the dimensions of it will be also measured, to then build two virtual models of it. One will be a detailed model, while the other one, will be much simpler. After that, simulations from those models will be performed in order to obtain the same data measured at the real room. Once the acoustic parameters had been obtained in both ways, there will be a comparison of all the measures together, studying whether differences between the real measured data and simulated ones exceed an estimated limit. This comparison, will give information about whether the computer models created can really represent the real room or not. Finally, conclusions to know which of the two created models is more appropriate to use, how to perform the simulations, what types of signal should be used in the measurements and which parameters to take into account in order to facilitate and saving time in future experiences, will be drawn.

Tradicionalmente, el foco de atención en el desarrollo de una arquitectura software se ha centrado en los componentes, relegando a un segundo plano las formas de interacción entre estos componentes: los conectores. Sin embargo, para que un sistema funcione correctamente es necesario dedicar tanta atención a los conectores como a los componentes. En este trabajo presentamos un estudio sobre la herramienta ArchStudio 3.0. El análisis se ha centrado en las capacidades de dicha herramienta para soportar la comunicación entre componentes mediante paso de mensajes. Sobre dicha herramienta se han realizado correcciones en el código, se han rediseñado algunos de sus elementos para mejorar la eficiencia y se ha diseñado e implementado la polÃtica de filtrado C2 conocida como message filtering.

We present a compact formula for the derivative of a 3-D rotation matrix with respect to its exponential coordinates. A geometric interpretation of the resulting expression is provided, as well as its agreement with other less-compact but better-known formulas. To the best of our knowledge, this simpler formula does not appear anywhere in the literature. We hope by providing this more compact expression to alleviate the common pressure to reluctantly resort to alternative representations in various computational applications simply as a means to avoid the complexity of differential analysis in exponential coordinates.

Thinning the absorber layer is one of the possibilities envisaged to further decrease the production costs of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGSe) thin films solar cell technology. In the present study, the electronic transport in submicron CIGSe-based devices has been investigated and compared to that of standard devices. It is observed that when the absorber is around 0.5 μm-thick, tunnelling enhanced interface recombination dominates, which harms cells energy conversion efficiency. It is also shown that by varying either the properties of the Mo back contact or the characteristics of 3-stage growth processing, one can shift the dominating recombination mechanism from interface to space charge region and thereby improve the cells efficiency. Discussions on these experimental facts led to the conclusions that 3-stage process implies the formation of a CIGSe/CIGSe homo-interface, whose location as well as properties rule the device operation; its influence is enhanced in submicron CIGSe based solar cells.

The effect of a diet enriched with polyunsaturated n -3 fatty acids (PUFA) on endocrine, reproductive, and productive responses of rabbit females and the litters has been studied. Nulliparous does ( n = 125) were fed ad libitum from rearing to second weaning two diets supplemented with different fat sources: 7.5 g/kg lard for the control diet (group C; n = 63) or 15 g/kg of a commercial supplement containing a 50% ether extract and 35% of total fatty acids (FAs) as PUFA n -3 (Group P; n = 62). Dietary treatments did not affect apparent digestibility coefficients of nutrients, or reproductive variables of does including milk pro- duction, mortality and average daily gain of kits over two lactations. However, on Day 5 and 7 post-induction of ovulation, progesterone of Group P tended to increase to a greater extent than in does of Group C. Total PUFAs, n -6 and n -3 and eicosapentanoic (EPA) contents were greater in adipose tissues of does in Group P than in Group C. Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), EPA, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) concentrations were greater in peri-ovarian than in scapular fat with abdominal fat being intermediate in concentration. In PUFA sup- plemented does, kit mortality at the second parturition tended to be less than in control does. Also, kits born to does of the PUFA-supplemented group weighed more and were of greater length than from does of control group. In conclusion, effectiveness of dietary intervention on reproductive and performance response is greater in the second parity, which suggests an accumulative long-term beneficial effect of n -3 FA supplementation in reproductive rabbit does

This paper presents a gravimetric study (based on 382 gravimetric stations in an area about 32 km2) of a nearly flat basin: the Low Andarax valley. This alluvial basin, close to its river mouth, is located in the extreme south of the province of AlmerÃa and coincides with one of the existing depressions in the Betic Cordillera. The paper presents new methodological work to adapt a published inversion approach (GROWTH method) to the case of an alluvial valley (sedimentary stratification, with density increase downward). The adjusted 3D density model reveals several features in the topography of the discontinuity layers between the calcareous basement (2,700 kg/m3) and two sedimentary layers (2,400 and 2,250 kg/m3). We interpret several low density alignments as corresponding to SE faults striking about N140?145°E. Some detected basement elevations (such as the one, previously known by boreholes, in Viator village) are apparently connected with the fault pattern. The outcomes of this work are: (1) new gravimetric data, (2) new methodological options, and (3) the resulting structural conclusions.

Introducción: El proyecto de investigación PREFIT (field – based FITness testing in PREschool children) ha diseñado una baterÃa de tests de campo fiables y válidos para evaluar la condición fÃsica en niños preescolares (3 a 5 años), siendo la fuerza uno de los componentes más importantes de la condición fÃsica. La fuerza muscular se considera un importante marcador de salud cardiovascular y osteoarticular en niños, además de contribuir a su salud mental. Por tanto, la evaluación y mejora de esta cualidad desde etapas tempranas es crucial para el desarrollo saludable de los niños.

Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) nanocomposites containing environmentally-friendly tungsten disulphide inorganic nanotubes (INTeWS2) have been successfully prepared by a simple solution blending method. The dynamic and isothermal crystallization studies by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) demonstrated that the INTeWS2 exhibits much more prominent nucleation activity on the crystallization of PHB than specific nucleating agents or other nanoscale fillers. Both crystallization rate and crystallinity significantly increase in the nanocomposites compared to neat PHB. These changes occur without modifying the crystalline structure of PHB in the nanocomposites, as shown by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXS) and infrared/Raman spectroscopy. Other parameters such as the Avrami exponent, the equilibrium melting temperature, global rate constant and the fold surface free energy of PHB chains in the nanocomposites were obtained from the calorimetric data in order to determine the influence of the INTeWS2 filler. The addition of INTeWS2 remarkably influences the energetics and kinetics of nucleation and growth of PHB, reducing the fold surface free energy by up to 20%. Furthermore, these nanocomposites also show an improvement in both tribological and mechanical (hardness and modulus) properties with respect to pure PHB evidenced by friction and nanoindentation tests, which is of important potential interest for industrial and medical applications.
3-D modeling of perimeter recombination in GaAs diodes and its influence on concentrator solar cells

This paper describes a complete modelling of the perimeter recombination of GaAs diodes which solves most unknowns and suppresses the limitations of previous models. Because of the three dimensional nature of the implemented model, it is able to simulate real devices. GaAs diodes on two epiwafers with different base doping levels, sizes and geometries, namely square and circular are manufactured. The validation of the model is achieved by fitting the experimental measurements of the dark IV curve of the manufactured GaAs diodes. A comprehensive 3-D description of the occurring phenomena affecting the perimeter recombination is supplied with the help of the model. Finally, the model is applied to concentrator GaAs solar cells to assess the impact of their doping level, size and geometry on the perimeter recombination.
