Aquest informe mira de documentar el projecte GeriaTic, que desenvolupa l'Ajuntament de Barcelona al districte 22@. L'informe fa una anàlisi de la situació de la gent gran en relació amb les tecnologies de la informació i la comunicació en el sector de la salut, el control de l'entorn i el lleure. L'anàlisi de la documentació trobada i la informació extreta d'un grup de discussió amb persones grans usuàries de les TIC permeten identificar el mercat existent, els productes i serveis, les necessitats no cobertes i les bones pràctiques relacionades amb els tres sectors estudiats. Les conclusions de l'estudi assenyalen tres aspectes clau: la necessitat que la tecnologia s'incorpori a la vida quotidiana de les persones, perquè aparegui com a quelcom necessari i útil; la cura en cercar un disseny modular, escalable i integrat de la tecnologia que acompanyi les característiques específiques de la persona i els canvis al llarg del seu cicle vital, i, finalment, la consideració que la incorporació de les TIC en l'àmbit de la gent gran no tan sols involucra la persona, sinó també el conjunt de professionals i la societat en general. Aquests tres aspectes permeten plantejar l'exigència que la incorporació de la tecnologia en la vida de la gent gran abandoni el model assistencial i es presenti a la persona i a la societat com una font de noves possibilitats i una oportunitat per al canvi.

Prenent com a hipòtesi de partida l'aparició d'un possible model Barcelona II (que entenem que és paral·lel al model Barcelona, un exemple internacionalment reconegut de combinació de polítiques urbanes), es van estudiar les transformacions internes del consistori barceloní vinculades amb l'ús innovador de les tecnologies de la informació i la comunicació i es van relacionar amb el conjunt de canvis socials i polítics que interaccionaven amb aquest procés.

The aim of this study was to determine the benefits of a psy-chological treatment in women victims of mistreatments in psychological health and in the immune system. The participants in this study were 60 women users of the Equality Area of the City Council of Malaga. We set two groups of women up in relation of whether the women attended or not to the given therapy. Psychological variables (self-esteem, depression and anxiety) and levels of Inmunoglobulin A were evaluated before and after the treatment. The results showed differences between all the vari-ables before and after the treatment, with better valuation after the treat-ment. These differences were not shown in women that did not assist to the therapeutic sessions, and even, the values of depression and immu-noglobulin A levels were worse. We found also differences in the values of these variables when the two groups were compared. Women that re-ceived the treatment showed fewer indicators of psychological alterations and higher levels of immunoglobulin A than the women that did not assist to the sessions; in the pre-treatment these differences were not shown. El matollar sec europeu format per Erica australis, Erica arborea, Pterosparum tridentatum, Halimium lasianthum i Calluna vulgaris com a espècies predominants és cremat en les serralades del Massís Central de forma repetida durant el pas dels anys. Això ha sigut, tradicionalment, a causa de la necessitat de mantenir-lo transitable per al bestiar, encara que altres circumstàncies s’han afegit actualment a aquesta necessitat, que incrementen el risc d’incendi d’aquesta comunitat, disparant-se el número d’incendis en els últims 30 anys. Sabent això, vam decidir realitzar un estudi a les zones de matollar que trobem al Massís Central situat a la zona del Concello de Villariño de Conso, a Ourense, per conèixer com es comporten les espècies característiques d’aquest tipus d’ecosistema després dels incendis, mitjançant la realització de mostrejos i perfils del sòl. D’aquesta manera hem volgut veure com es desenvolupen les espècies vegetals de matollar al llarg del temps, després de ser cremats. Gràcies a l’estudi hem pogut veure com el matollar observat te unes característiques que li permet sobreviure als incendis i tindre una capacitat de regeneració elevada després de patir aquesta pertorbació. Això es degut a la capacitat per rebrotar d’aquestes espècies arbustives i a la seva competitivitat. També hem vist com a necessari, donar un valor econòmic a la bona conservació de l’hàbitat, per tal de que la població local abandoni pràctiques de gestió forestal nocives, com el foc.

This thesis analyses what local community theatre activity means to an area and its residents, and whether this kind of activity is meaningful. The objective was to explore whether and how community art can help urban areas to move in the direction of sustainable development: whether art can be part of regional policy development work. Hakunilan Kultsa was founded in 2003. It is an Urban II, European Union project and part of the Community Iniative Programme 2001-2006, financed by the EU. Hakunilan Kultsa is also a co-operation between Vantaa city council's culture and youth services. The project encourages Hakunila residents of different ages to take part in versatile art and cultural intrests in the Hakunila youth centre. People have the opportunity to participate in theatre, expression, arts, dance, performing arts and writing groups. One of the main aims is to found a sustainable community theatre in the area. The thesis examines what effects Hakunilan Kultsa has had so far. Inquiry form and thematical interviews have been used as research methods. Interviews and questionnaires were gathered between Autumn 2004 and Spring 2005. The whole process lasted from Spring 2004 until Spring 2006. The author also made participatory observations during the research process which in turn affected the conclusions. The thesis also deals with associated topics such as urban programmes, sustainable development, Hakunila as a suburban area, resident stimulation, and community thetare work. Hakunilan Kultsa has proved its importance. Based on the enquiries and interviews, the project has effectively presented the possibility for art forms to become hobbies. There is no cultural, age or economical discrimination. The easily accessible site and the low threshold principle make it easy for people to participate. The community theatre has improved the area's public image, increased participation and initiative, and given a voice to the community.

Case File 0603634 On September 13, 2006, Kelly Wilslef submitted a complaint to the Ombudsman about the Maquoketa City Council (Council). Ms. Wilslef stated a Maquoketa police officer served her an abatement notice for violating the city ordinance preventing owners from keeping pit bull terrier dogs in the city. The Council subsequently determined her dog was a pit bull mix, and ordered her to remove the dog from the city. Ms. Wilslef claimed the Council unreasonably relied on non-expert testimony supporting the city’s position her dog was a pit bull mix. She further claimed that if her dog was in fact a pit bull mix, the city ordinance did not apply to mixed-breed pit bulls; therefore, the Council acted contrary to law when it concluded she violated the city ordinance and ordered her to remove her dog from the city.

The local board of health is described in law in Iowa Code Chapter 137. It is described in rule in Iowa Administrative Code chapter 641.77. Law and rule define the structure, powers, and duties of the local board of health. The following information is a summation of the two. LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH JURISDICTION AND APPOINTMENT: There are three types of local boards of health. 1. City (has to have been in existence before July 1, 2010) 2. County 3. District • City boards of health have jurisdiction over public health matters within the city. City board members are appointed by the city council. • County boards of health have jurisdiction over public health matters within the county. County board members are appointed by the county board of supervisors. • District boards of health have jurisdiction over public health matters within the district. District board of health members are appointed by the county boards of supervisors from the counties represented by the district.

El contingut d'aquest projecte, consisteix en desenvolupar una solució per a dispositius mòbils Android amb NFC, amb la finalitat de motivar i incrementar el nombre de ciutadans que practiquen esport a la ciutat de Barcelona. El projecte inclou disseny de la interfície mòbil, la creació d'una base de dades, un servei d'API Rest per accedir a les dades des dels dispositius, l'ús del servei de mapes de Google i diferents llibreries i eines per a dissenyar l'arquitectura del sistema. Es tindran en compte les restriccions en disseny i funcionalitat per part del client (ajuntament).

Urban places attract most highway travel because more people are to be per acre in urban places than elsewhere. In the beginning of highway development the objective was to provide an all-weather road for the rural people to get to town and back to their farms, but there was no consideration of getting motor vehicles through the town to the opposite side. With the development of intercity travel, it soon became apparent that travel through the urban areas would have to be given consideration along with the travel to and from the urban areas. This consideration led to the urban bypass, a provision in highway location whereby the traveler may get to the opposite side of the urban area without going through it, or at least not through the central business district. Bypasses, although highly desired by the through travelers, were not welcomed by local business interests on the basis that the community would suffer a reduction in retail trade. Some discussion of the pros and cons of bypasses and their consequences as observed from experience will shed light upon this type of local highway. The bypass report summaries in this document were based on interviews with businessmen and community leaders of cities that have actually experienced firsthand the impacts of a highway bypass. Several of the studies were conducted by newspaper reporters, city council members and residents of Iowa cities.

L’objectiu d’aquest estudi és crear un programa de prevenció de la demència a partir d’activitats i ocupacions significatives. S’utilitzarà la metodologia quantitativa i es realitzarà un estudi experimental i seqüencial. L’estudi es realitzarà al medi rural, concretament a Ripoll (Sant Bernabé). Per tal de poder obtenir la els participants per la realització de l’estudi s’utilitzarà el mostreig aleatori estratificat amb el qual s’obtindrà dos grups de 16 persones de 50 a 55 anys. Els instruments que s’utilitzaran per tal de poder obtenir les dades de l’estudi són el “Qüestionari internacional d’activitat física” (2002), la bateria neuropsicològica anomenada “Test de Barcelona abreviat” (1997), “L’escala de qualitat de vida” (2008), i per acabar s’utilitzarà el “Test KIMED” (2004). Una primera limitació pot ser que l’ajuntament no ens faciliti les dades per tal de poder realitzar el mostreig aleatori estratificat per tal de poder aconseguir la mostra. També pot ser que l’ajuntament no cedeixi el lloc per tal de poder realitzar la intervenció. Un altre possible limitació pot ser el temps atmosfèric. I per acabar també ens podem torbar amb l’abandonament del programa per part d’un o més participants.

Numerous strategies have been experimented with nationwide in an attempt to reduce the overall number of pedestrian-vehicle crashes, especially in instances where improper crossing or failure to yield was the proximate cause of the crash. Some of these measures include overhead signs, flashing warning beacons, advanced crossing signs, more visible pavement markings, in-street “Yield to Pedestrian” signs, and more recently, in-pavement flashing lights. Pedestrian safety has been a key issue for the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in particular at non-controlled intersections and mid-block crossings. In 2002, the city council gave preliminary approval to implement a pedestrian-actuated overhead flasher system in conjunction with an in-pavement flasher system at the intersection of 1st Avenue NE and 4th Street NE in the downtown central business district. This location is uncontrolled and has several elements that can create conflicts between pedestrians, vehicles, and trains that service local industry. This report summarizes the results from a small-scale study completed by CTRE to evaluate the effectiveness of the in-pavement flasher system installed in downtown Cedar Rapids. The installation of in-pavement flashing warning lights at the pedestrian crosswalk at this site has had a net positive effect on the safety characteristics of the location. The results of this study show a marked improvement in motorist compliance with the state law requiring that motorists yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. The pedestrian and motorist surveys show that both groups felt the in-pavement flashing lights have increased motorist awareness, especially at night. The data indicate the in-pavement flashing warning lights improved the motorists' response to pedestrians in the area, and that the system could be operational throughout summer and winter conditions.

The city of Elliott has had an increase in nitrate levels in their community water supply located in the Coe Creek Watershed. They have been working with the IDNR Source Water Protection (SWP) Programs to conduct site investigations and have formed a SWP Planning Team. This Team has been reviewing the investigation findings, formed an action plan and studied different Best Management Practices (BMPs). After considering the BMPs the SWP Team made a recommendation to the Elliott City Council which included native grass seeding and a shallow water wetland. The Team also held an informational meeting for the citizens of Elliott. The goal of this meeting was to inform and educate the public of the Team findings and BMPs. The Elliott City Council approved the restoration of a shallow wetland with a native grass buffer. This whole project is 27 acres and includes a shallow water wetland with native grass buffer. This would be a long term method to reduce nitrates in the city wells. Elliott is partnering with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, Pheasants Forever, the Montgomery County Conservation Board, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors in the restoration of the shallow water wetland and native grass buffer.
