Proyecto Wiki : La escritura colaborativa digital en adultos que estudian inglés como lengua extranjera

El presente trabajo intenta presentar las posibilidades que ofrece la herramienta virtual wiki a la hora de favorecer la visión de toda escritura como proceso, fomentar el trabajo colaborativo y contribuir a la alfabetización digital en adultos que están adquiriendo el inglés como lengua extranjera. Durante el receso invernal forzoso debido a la Gripe A de julio de 2009 en nuestro país, se decidió crear un espacio wiki para trabajar con los alumnos de Adultos 4B que asisten a la Escuela de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), Buenos Aires, Argentina. El material a trabajar se desprende de una de las lecturas obligatorias incluidas en el programa de dicho curso (selección de cuentos graduados de I, Robot, de Isaac Asimov). El espacio wiki permitirá a los alumnos y a la docente abordar la adquisición de contenidos de manera semipresencial, compensando así las clases perdidas por el receso forzoso. Mediante el uso de esta herramienta virtual con alumnos adultos se busca alentar la producción escrita en lengua inglesa por parte de los mismos, así como también iniciarlos en la creación y decodificación de discursos digitales y ayudarlos a desarrollar estrategias comunicativas eficaces en la Sociedad de la Información

Remaking Movie Making: The Environmental Impacts of the Film Industry in Southern California

The film and television industry is integral to the economics and culture of the Southern California region. It is also a major contributing factor to the environmental problems in the region. Currently the Motion Picture, Television, and Commercial Industries Act of 1984 is the only regulation written specifically for the entertainment industry. This regulation was created with the purpose of streamlining the film permitting process to prevent run-away production, taking production out of state, and encourage growth. A change in this regulation is needed since studios routinely fail to meet environmental standards or work towards improvement during on-location filming. Amendments to this regulation requiring permits to contain environmental conditions would improve environmental conditions and stay true to the original purpose of the act.

Dynamic Visual Servoing With Chaos Control for Redundant Robots

This paper presents a new dynamic visual control system for redundant robots with chaos compensation. In order to implement the visual servoing system, a new architecture is proposed that improves the system maintainability and traceability. Furthermore, high performance is obtained as a result of parallel execution of the different tasks that compose the architecture. The control component of the architecture implements a new visual servoing technique for resolving the redundancy at the acceleration level in order to guarantee the correct motion of both end-effector and joints. The controller generates the required torques for the tracking of image trajectories. However, in order to guarantee the applicability of this technique, a repetitive path tracked by the robot-end must produce a periodic joint motion. A chaos controller is integrated in the visual servoing system and the correct performance is observed in low and high velocities. Furthermore, a method to adjust the chaos controller is proposed and validated using a real three-link robot.
