Warnings that the insecticides dimethoate & fenthion might be removed from the market for apples, had been current for several years. Dimethoate was widely used as a post harvest control measure as well as an in-field treatment. Fenthion also had and still has in-field usage. The project attempted to find a replacement for these control measures.

The aim of this project is to bring information on low chill stonefruit varieties to a user in a clear and friendly format to aid in that decision process. Low Chill Australia see this project as high priority for its members to be competitive by growing high quality, early season peach and nectarine fruit varieties. Data will be collated from grower surveys, breeder’s descriptions and literature, and entered into an Access Database and published on the web for stonefruit growers in tropical and sub-tropical regions across Australia. Development of commercial application of an avocado fruit robustness test

Fruit quality is one of the major factors limiting growth in avocado retail sales. Avocado growers are often unaware of their end-use fruit quality since quality problems only manifest upon fruit ripening and growers receive limited feedback from the supply chain. If growers were aware of their expected fruit quality they would be equipped to make better marketing decisions and if necessary to take remedial actions to improve their fruit quality. Avotest is being developed as a quick and easy method of determining expected end-use fruit quality before the start of the commercial fruit harvest. The test aims at distinguishing between blocks with robust fruit and those with less robust fruit. The test could also be used to predict the resulting fruit quality after the implementation of new farming practices.

The goal of the Program is to contribute to economic growth in the Philippines through increased income and improved livelihoods of tropical fruit growers in southern Philippines. The purpose of the Program is to improve the smallholder and industry profitability and export competitiveness of selected tropical fruits industries in the southern Philippines. Fruit crops to be targeted are mango, papaya, durian and jackfruit. The primary audience for the outcomes of this Program are medium to large scale commercial fruit growers and farmers predominantly in the regions of Leyte (VIII), northern Mindanao/Cagayan de Oro (X) and southern Mindanao/Davao (XI).
