O presente estudo analisa o uso da mecanização nas condições reais dos agricultores familiares. Os resultados foram construídos na base de duas pesquisas complementares entre si: o acompanhamento do Projeto de Mecanização desenvolvido pela prefeitura do município de Altamira – PA e o levantamento de outras experiências desenvolvidas pelos agricultores no município de Uruará – PA. Verificou-se que o problema da manutenção da fertilidade do solo é um fator limitante à mecanização, ao lado da baixa remuneração do trabalho, da diminuição de interesse pela produção de culturas anuais, e da disponibilidade de área para continuar com a agricultura itinerante. As condições atuais dos sistemas agrários não permitem ainda a transição para a agricultura permanente ou a intensificação dos sistemas de produção a partir da mecanização. No entanto, os interesses da coletividade e a realização de estudos aprofundados com agricultores que vêm praticando tração animal poderão relativizar estes resultados.

Os manguezais possuem uma enorme importância sócio-econômica para as populações tradicionais que a habitam, nesses ambientes é comum encontramos o caranguejo-uçá (Ucides cordatus), representando para muitas comunidades a principal fonte de subsistência. O município de Quatipuru, localizado no nordeste paraense é um bom exemplo de demonstração da importância deste recurso para a sua comunidade, nos últimos anos o município vem apresentado os maiores valores de produção comercial do caranguejo-uçá no estado do Pará (CEPNOR/IBAMA, 2006), entretanto, trabalhos específicos como a bioecologia da espécie no município, são inexistentes. Neste sentido, este trabalho traz informações a respeito da biologia e ecologia da espécie, bem como, informações sobre a produção comercial no município. Na realização dos trabalhos bioecologicos, foram feitos monitoramentos de 02 (duas) áreas dos manguezais da região, no período de Setembro de 2006 a Julho de 2007, a fim de se obter dados sobre a densidade, proporção sexual, biometria e parâmetros ambientais. No estudo da produção comercial, foi estimada a produção anual do município, os métodos de captura e a biometria (largura da carapaça e peso total) dos caranguejos comercializados. Com relação aos animais provenientes das coletas de campo, os estudos demostraram não haver diferenças significativas entre as duas áreas, tanto pra densidade que foi de 1,36 tocas/m² na área 01 e 1,21 tocas/m² na área 02, com também para a proporção sexual que foi de 2,39M: 1F na área 01 e 1,43M: 1F, entretanto, foi encontrado no decorrer do ano, um número maior de fêmeas no mês de maio 2007 na região 02. Com relação às análises biométricas, a largura média da carapaça (LC) encontrada foi de 6.13 cm para os machos e 5,46 cm para as fêmeas na área 01 e 6,31 cm para os machos e 5,33 cm para fêmeas na área 02, com relação ao peso, a média registrada foi de 96,73g para os machos e 67,93g para as fêmeas na área 01 e 106,47g para os machos e 64,85 g para as fêmeas na área 02, sendo observada uma forte correlação entre essas variáveis tanto para os machos quanto para as fêmeas, nas duas áreas, verificando a influência de fatores biológicos ocorrentes no ano, com a ecdise, sobre essas variáveis. Com relação aos animais comercializados, foi verificado que todos os indivíduos foram machos possuindo uma média para a largura da carapaça (LC) de 7,26 cm a LC mínima e máxima encontradas foi de 5,2 cm em Março de 2007 e 8,5 cm encontrados nos meses de setembro de 2006 e janeiro de 2007. Com relação ao peso a média encontrada foi de 161,0g, sendo o valor máximo registrado de 300,0g no mês de setembro de 2006 e o valor mínimo de 80,0g ocorrido no mês de julho de 2007. A produção anual estimada para o município foi de 1.189,73 ton/ano, portanto, uma produção menor que as registradas nos últimos anos pelo CEPNOR/IBAMA, mas dentro da média histórica do município. As áreas estudadas demonstraram que apesar de já serem bastante exploradas possui uma densidade populacional semelhante à de outras regiões do Brasil, assim como a proporção sexual encontrada e os valores biométricos registrados. Com relação à produção comercial apesar de ter sido registrado uma produção anual menor que os últimos anos, Quatipuru continua sendo um dos maiores produtores comerciais deste recurso no Brasil, fator este possivelmente relacionado com a não comercialização de fêmeas, ao método de captura (braceamento) e o respeito ao tamanho do caranguejo comercializado.

Um cuidado em saúde que vise a integralidade em suas ações e propostas deve levar em consideração os contextos singulares de vida da população e de cada pessoa em particular, se observadas as considerações da bibliografia especializada. Sabe-se que o Brasil é um país que apresenta um grave quadro de desigualdade social e o conhecimento da diversidade cultural existente entre os grupos sociais que co-existem em nosso país é fundamental para a realização de um cuidado em saúde integral com a população. O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender se e de que forma os elementos considerados importantes para a produção de saúde no contexto de vulnerabilidade social no Brasil estão sendo levados em conta na produção acadêmica da área da psicologia. Para isso, foram analisados textos presentes na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, a partir da relação psicologia e SUS, totalizando 37 estudos. A importância de uma prática contextualizada foi evidenciada, porém não houve em nenhum dos textos a descrição das especificidades dos contextos familiares em situação de pobreza, sinalizando que este conhecimento não está disponível na área e que saberes de áreas distintas da saúde são fundamentais para um cuidado integral em saúde. A integralidade, o trabalho em equipe e a prevenção e promoção à saúde são elementos significativos nas produções, porém podemos perceber que estas diretrizes encontram-se ainda no plano da reflexão e verbalização, de um modo geral não traduzindo-se em práticas profissionais. Os desafios que distanciam a prática dos profissionais da psicologia e as diretrizes do SUS resumem-se em uma formação voltada para o atendimento clínico individual e a consequente prática descontextualizada, voltada para a psicoterapia. Outros desafios assinalados foram formas de organização do próprio SUS e a desconsideração deste profissional como generalista nas políticas de saúde. O conceito de resiliência de um modo geral não está presente nos estudos, mas a presença de elementos importantes para promover a autonomia dos indivíduos demonstra que formas de fortalecer os indivíduos foram considerados importantes. Foram analisadas também as estratégias de educação: formação acadêmica e Educação Permanente em Saúde (EPS). Observou-se que a discussão sobre a formação está presente na maioria dos textos e que mudanças tímidas já foram constatadas buscando aproximar a área da realidade do SUS. A EPS não é um fator significativo nos estudos, e seu potencial ainda não foi explorado no que concerne a psicologia.

This research aimed to study the international scientific collaboration, through co-authorship, and the impact of full papers published in journals Qualis A1 and A2 of Graduate Programs in Animal Science of excellence (2007-2009). Through the indicators of production of graduate evaluation from CAPES, the research gathered the scientific production of three graduate programs, adding up to 125 articles. The citations received were gathered from the SCOPUS database and the impact of journals from the SCImago Journal & Country Rank. In order to investigate the correlation among the indicators analyzed, Pearson’s linear correlation coefficients were calculated. It was observed that the Impact Factor (IF) of the journal may influence the number of citations and that there is a weak trend for association of IFs with the number of coauthor countries. It was not observed a statistically significant correlation between the number of collaborating countries and citations received by the article.

The Brazilian livestock stands out for having the world largest commercial herd of cattle and leads meat exportation and production of bovine embryos. The in vitro production (IVP) of embryos is considered an effective option to overcome problems such as infertility in cows with high economic value and also for genetic improvement of cattle. The in vitro oocyte maturation is an essential step to the success of IVP, but is still considered poor when compared to in vivo maturation. Recent studies have suggeested an important role of Fibroblast Growth Factor 10 (FGF10) on the in vitro maturation of oocytes, which favored the expression of genes related to oocyte maturation and cumulus cell expansion. Aware that maturity stage influences the final production of blastocysts, we aimed study to verify if the addition of FGF10 into the maturation medium is able to affect positively the IVP of bovine embryos. Hence, FGF10 was added to maturation in five different concentrations: 0.5 ng/mL (group 0.5), 2.5 ng/mL (group 2.5), 5 ng/mL (group 5), 10 ng/mL (group 10) and 50 ng/mL (group 50). Additionally, two other maturation groups were used, group BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin, 4 mg/mL) and group FCS (Fetal Calf Serum, 10%). The rates of cleavage, morula and blastocyst were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), differences of P<0.05 were considered significant. Cleavage rates did not differ between the seven groups. On the other hand, morula rate on FCS group was higher than groups BSA, 0.5, 10 and 50 (P<0.05), but did not differ among groups treated with intermediate doses of FGF10 (2.5 and 5). FCS group presented higher blastocyst rate compared to all other groups that were well below the FCS group (P<0.0001). Therefore, the use of FGF10 during oocyte maturation did not affect positively embryo development on the IVP of bovine embryos

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a complication of human pregnancy characterized by hypertension and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation. Its incidence varies from 5% to 7% of pregnancies and is a major cause of morbidity and maternal and fetal mortality. This is a multisystemic disease, with focus on vascular dysfunction and is closely related to the exacerbated activation of the immune system. In addition to increased activation of monocytes and granulocytes, there is an elevated production of proinflammatory cytokines in pregnant women with PE. The nuclear transcription factor-kB (NF-kB) is present in the cells of the immune system and is responsible for transcription of genes related to inflammation. Whereas the PE is associated with intense inflammatory response, the use of substances modulating the activity of NF-kB factor could be useful in alleviating the inflammation present in these patients. Silibinin is the main component of silymarin, a polyphenolic extract obtained from fruits and seeds of Sylibum marianum with potent hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic activities. The silibinin mechanism of action includes the ability to inhibit NF-kB activation and, consequently, its migration to the nucleus. The objective of this study was to assess whether silibinin modulates the activity of NF-kB and the production of inflammatory cytokines in mononuclear cells of patients with PE. We evaluated 34 pregnant women with PE, 20 normotensive pregnant women (GN) and 15 non-pregnant women (NG). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were obtained from those groups of women and cultured in the presence or absence of silibinin (5 uM or 50 uM) and stimulated or not with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 18 h to obtain supernatant for determination of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 (IL-1β) by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA). The consuming of the natural resources in the agricultural sector does not represent only one external factor of the productive process, but also it implies in a bigger cost for the production, justified for this environmental degradation. In view of the necessity of evaluating the sustainment of the agricultural businesses, the use of performance indicators if makes of extreme importance. The measurement of the support through environmentalindicators is one of the most accepted forms of performing the evaluation of one given agricultural activity. In this context, the Base System for Eco-certification of Agricultural Businesses (Eco-cert Rural) developed by the Embrapa Environment at Jaguariúna/SP, has for purpose to present a method of evaluation of the agricultural businesses, not only of the point of view of the ecological performance, as well as considering the social, economic and organizational aspects. Through the analysis of the performance of the activity and the regularization of the disconformities found, it makes possible the eco-certification of the activities in the varied existing protocols, offering technologies designed to the sustainable development of the agricultural businesses. Using Eco-cert.Rural, this work evaluated the contribution of the use of mechanized harvest in sugar cane handling, front to the traditional system of manual harvest, using the fire. In the Sugar Cane Activity General Performance Index, Agrícola Rio Claro scored 2,08 of a maximum of 15. Amongst all the indicators, those wich reached performance worse had been related to the Use of Energy and the Income, by increasing fossil fuel consumptiom, and implying income concentration due to resignations of rural workers. According to ABIPA (2009), Brazil is currently among the major producers of reconstituted wood panels, with one of the main factors for this condition, its climate and its large land area, which allows the cultivation of forests, which provide raw materials for these industries. To establish that market as power, Brazil has invested about R$ 1.3 billion in the last 10 years, yet designed an investment of 0.8 billion dollars over the next three years (BNDES, 2008). With the new investments in this segment, we expect a growth of about 66% in the resin consumption of urea-formaldehyde (GPC, 2009) which should also result in major investments by the companies producing this polymer. Currently employees are mainly three types of resins in the production industry panels, as follows: Urea-Formaldehyde Resin (R-UF), melamine-formaldehyde resin (R-MF) and Phenol-Formaldehyde Resin (R-FF). Especially the cost factor, the urea-formaldehyde resin is the most used by companies producing reconstituted wood panels. The UF-R is a polymer obtained by condensation of urea and formaldehyde reactors (usually batch type), characterized by being a thermosetting polymer which makes it very efficient for bonding wood composites. The urea-formaldehyde polymer, to present a quite complex, it becomes very difficult to predict the exact chain resulting in the process of condensation of urea with formaldehyde, so that a greater knowledge of its characteristics and methods for their characterization can result in greater control in industrial processes and subsequent decrease cost and improve the quality of reconstituted wood panels produced in Brazil

In São Paulo state, deforestation and agriculture activities are increasing soil losses processes, especially in areas of susceptible soils where properties not adopt soil conservation practices. Environmental adequacy at property level regarding Permanent Protection Areas and Legal Reserves is considered a factor on reducing soil losses and considering that we assessed soil losses of different scenario of environmental adequacy. Simulations of erosive process were carried out in 15 catchments of Corumbataí river basin, according to different forest restoration scenarios, as well as the current situation of land use/land cover. The scenarios include the implementation of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA), the reforestation of variable source areas, and two scenarios, the Legal Reserve installation in 20% of each catchment, being one of them for most critical areas in terms of erosion and the other at random. It was observed that the establishment of PPA and the reforestation of hydrologically sensitive areas, offered only a small contribution to the control of the erosive process, resulting in a reduction of 10% and 7,8%, respectively, while the legal reserve in critical areas has a significant reduction of 69,8%. The random scenario, in turn, resulted in a reduction of only 21,4%. Results show that reforestation could reduce soil losses, but previous studies of land prioritization and planning could increase significantly its efficiency at this process.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy specific syndrome characterized by a systemic inflammatory response, with higher intensity than that observed in normal pregnancy. Cells of the immune system, such as monocytes and granulocytes are endogenously activated and secrete high levels of free radicals and inflammatory cytokines. The objective of this study was to assess the activation state of monocytes from pregnant women with preeclampsia by endogenous expression of TLR2 e TLR4 receptors and to correlate the expression of TLR2 and TLR4 on monocytes surface of pregnant women with PE with the production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF- and interleukin-10 (IL-10) by these cells stimulated or not with peptidoglycan (PG) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), as agonists agents of TLR2 and TLR4, respectively. We evaluated 15 pregnant women with PE, 15 normotensive pregnant women (NT) and 15 non-pregnant (NP). Peripheral blood monocytes were incubates in the presence or absence of LPS or PG. The supernatant obtained after 18h of culture was aspirated and used for TNF- and IL-10 determination by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA). The endogenous expression of TLR2 and TLR4 receptors was evaluated by flow cytometry. Our results showed significant highly concentrations of TNF- and TLR4 expression in monocytes of preeclamptic women when compared with NT and NP. Normal pregnant women presented higher levels of IL-10 in comparison with PE and NP groups. TLR2 expression was similar in the three groups studied. Therefore, our study highlights the important role of TLR4 in PE and the consequent high production of TNF- by monocytes of these patients, as well as the potential mechanism involving low levels of IL-10 in the pathophysiology of the disease. These observations demonstrate the strong link between the pathology of PE and the immune system of these patients

The steady increase in the price of oil and its derivatives, carbon credits, the concern with the environment combined with the precipitation of rain water and lack of water resources that Brazil has suffered in 2014 caused a migration of participation sources of energy in the Brazilian energy matrix. The hydropower sector suffered big drop at 2013 and is suffering so far, contributing thus to the generation and cogeneration of thermal energy using renewable energy sources such as: sugarcane bagasse, wood chips, rice husks, among others. The selling price of the electricity market reached the level of R$ 807, 00 MWh in January 2014 (Source: ANEEL), heating the Brazilian thermoelectric sector. Although thermoelectric use in bulk water as vaporizing fluid to produce electricity and use in various processes, water reuse plans have become an important factor in these industries. The increased use of biomass has been the bagasse which is allied to the sugarcane sector, strong market in Brazil, and consists basically use the rest of sugar cane, sugarcane industries that would play out. The sugar and ethanol industry is very unstable and only lasts for 6-8 months a year, and the remaining time in the period known as between crop that corresponds to the planting and harvesting of sugarcane and then enter the period of vintage which is the constant cane harvesting and crushing it. This instability of the market and the thermoelectric idle period leads the thermoelectric industries to seek other sources of renewable energy, such as wood chips (pine, Eucalyptus, Orange), rice husk, sorghum among others, to not be dependent on alcohol sector.
