Hamilton-Waterloo problem with triangle and C9 factors

The Hamilton-Waterloo problem and its spouse-avoiding variant for uniform cycle sizes asks if Kv, where v is odd (or Kv - F, if v is even), can be decomposed into 2-factors in which each factor is made either entirely of m-cycles or entirely of n-cycles. This thesis examines the case in which r of the factors are made up of cycles of length 3 and s of the factors are made up of cycles of length 9, for any r and s. We also discuss a constructive solution to the general (m,n) case which fixes r and s.

Triangle-programmed coulometric nanotitrations completed by continuous flow with potentiometric detection

Coulometric nanotitrations were realized in a microchannel system using a continuous-flow titration technique with a triangle current-time profile. Redox and acid-base titrations were carried out on Fe(II) and nitric acid samples, respectively, with the same nanotitrator device. A linear relation between the concentration and the coulometric current transferred to the solution was found. The advantages of this universally applicable nanotitrator are fast response, low sample volume, high sensitivity, and high reproducibility as well as the convenience of handling an automated analyzer of the flow-through type.

A Gendered Triangle? Intergenerational Social Mobility in 20th Century Switzerland

In the light of the dramatically changed social structure of women, surprisingly little gender differences have been found in temporal changes of effects of social origin on occupational class. Using a recently developed methodological approach and Swiss data on birth cohorts from 1925 to 1978, this paper takes a closer look by considering not only the total effect of social origin but also the individual elements of the indirect effect mediated by individual’s education. It finds that this indirect path have changed indeed differently for women and men, but the findings on the direct effect remain mixed, partially because this path seems to be especially sensitive to the conceptualization of social class.

An Asian Triangle of Growth and Cluster-to-Cluster Linkages

It is expected that an Asian triangle of growth will be formed in the coming few decades. China, India and ASEAN surround the Asian triangle, which is home to many industrial clusters. Multinational corporations will link these clusters together. Regional integration will help them in this task by lowering the barriers of national borders. This paper explains the necessity of regional integration for cluster-to-cluster linkages in the Asian triangle of growth.

Acoustic displacement triangle based on the individual element test

A three node, displacement based, acoustic element is developed. In order to avoid spurious rotational modes, a higher order stiffness is introduced. The higher order stiffness is developed from an incompatible strain field which computes element volume changes under nodal rotational displacements fields. The higher order strain satisfies the IET requirements, non affecting convergence. The higher order stiffness is modulated, element by element, with a factor. Thus, the displacement based formulation is capable of placing the spurious rotational modes over the range of physical compressional modes that can be accurately captured by the mesh.
