"Falta alguém em Nuremberg?: a repressão do primeiro governo Vargas revelada pela imprensa e legislativo nos anos 1940"

O trabalho busca analisar o papel de dois setores representativos brasileiros (imprensa e poder legislativo), de 1945 a 1948, na investigação e divulgação de práticas repressivas do Estado brasileiro de 1935 a 1945 descambando para o tema da tortura no período. Para tal, tem-se como objeto empírico parte das publicações do conglomerado editorial Diários Associados e a formação da Comissão Parlamentar de Inquérito dos Atos Delituosos da Ditadura. Tomados no bojo da redemocratização a partir de 1945, as reportagens e a Comissão possuíram uma profunda interrelação nas denúncias às torturas ocorridas antes mesmo da instauração do Estado Novo. Ao se estudar o tema, observa-se que essas acusações, embora comuns, não encontraram eco e se perderam tanto na possibilidade de ações judiciais (no caso da Comissão Parlamentar) como à memória. O objetivo deste trabalho é, então, demarcar o caminho das denúncias e apontar as causas que culminaram no seu esquecimento público.

A revolta comunista de 1935: um olhar sobre a atuação rebelde no interior do Rio Grande do Norte

A presente dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a atuação revolucionária no interior do Rio Grande do Norte, ocorrida durante a Revolta comunista de 1935, tendo como foco principal as colunas rebeldes estabelecidas durante o evento. Os objetivos das colunas eram a tomada das cidades do interior potiguar, a captação de novos integrantes e recursos que pudessem ser utilizados na consolidação e ampliação do controle dos rebeldes estabelecido a partir da cidade de Natal. No presente estudo foram identificadas as causas da adesão popular à revolta comunista nas cidades ocupadas pelas colunas rebeldes. Baseado nas fontes pesquisadas, sobretudo nos processos dos indiciados julgados pelo Tribunal de Segurança Nacional, e à luz da bibliografia sobre o tema, buscou-se os possíveis fatores de ordem política, econômica, social ou ideológica que podem ter atuado na aproximação dos moradores situados no interior do Rio Grande do Norte com o discurso de modificação da ordem então vigente, proferido pelos rebeldes

Wadge Bank trawl fishery studies. Pt. 1. The effect of the 1928 to 1935 commercial trawling on the demersal stock

The demersal fish stock of Wadge Bank is one of the important fish resources for both Sri Lanka and India. Sivalingam and Medcof (1957) have given an account of its history, general features and relative productivity. According to records the total fishing effort on the bank had been fluctuating and very recently the number of boats operating on the bank has suddenly increased, and there is a possibility that still more will begin operating on the bank in the near future (Mendis, 1965). The increased fishing effort with the possibility of still further increase calls for proper management practices by those concerned, in order to obtain the maximum sustained yield from the demersal stock. For this purpose a detailed study of the past performance of the fishery is essential. With this in view all records of commercial operations up to 1960 are being analysed by the present author and are to be published in a series. This is the first paper in the series and gives a detailed analysis of the first commercial trawling operations from 1928 to 1935. Since there had been a major break of about 10 years between this and the present fishery this data is being analysed separately.

A redescription of Diogenes senex Heller, 1865, sensu stricto (Decapoda: Anomura: Paguridea: Diogenidae)

Diogenes senex Heller, 1865 sensu stricto is redescribed from specimens collected in Australia, particularly in and around the type locality of Sydney. A neotype has been designated. Comparisons of this material with other specimens identified as D. senex by a number of authors has shown that at present only the Australian material truly represents Heller's taxon.

First report of two Balantidium species from the Chinese giant salamander, Andrias davidianus: Balantidium sinensis Nie 1935 and Balantidium andianusis n. sp.

Two ciliated protozoa, Balantidium sinensis Nie 1935 and Balantidium andianusi n. sp., were isolated from the feces of a wild Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) captured from the mountainous area of Shiyan, Hubei Province, Central China in October 2006. It is the first report of Balantidium species inhabiting Cryptobranchoidea amphibians. The occurrence of B. sinensis in A. davidianus should be a new record because the type specimens were first discovered and named by Nie in 1935 from Rana nigromaculata and Rana plancyi. For the lack of enough descriptions of taxonomic features in the previous report, it was re-described in detail and compared with Nie's type specimens and B. giganteum to complete the morphological descriptions in the present work. B. andianusi n. sp. was considered to be a new species based on its unique morphological characteristics, especially the high length/width ratio of the vestibulum (8:1). Comparisons were also made among Balantidium species that were found from urodele amphibians.

ON PARADICRANOPHORUS-ACULEATUS (NEISTWESTNOVA-SHADINA, 1935) WITH REMARKS ON ALL OTHER SPECIES OF THE GENUS (ROTIFERA, DICRANOPHORIDAE)

In 1934, the rotifer Paradicranophorus aculeatus was discovered by NEISTWESTNOVA-SHADINA in the River Oka near Murom (Russia). She described it as a Dicranophorus species. In 1958, the rheophilic rotifer was rediscovered in the Polish River Grabia by PAWLOWSKI. This paper reports a third occurence in three samples from the Yun Nan Luoxiao River in China, allowing additional studies of this rare species.
