New route for light olefins production from chloromethane over HSAPO-34 molecular sieve

HSAPO-34 molecular sieve was employed in chloromethane conversion and showed high performance in activity and selectivity in production of light olefins. Our detailed IR investigation allowed the identification of the active sites and the adsorbed species and demonstrated that the conversion started from 350 degrees C with alkoxy group as the intermediate. The fixed-bed catalytic testing evidenced that in the range of 350-500 degrees C, 70-80% of chloromethane was transferred to ethylene, propylene and butenes. Increasing reaction temperature favors the conversion and enhances the yield of lighter olefins. A very important reversible phenomenon, the breaking of Al-O-P bonds upon adsorption of HCl, a main product of reaction to generate a large amount of P-OH groups and the recovery of Al-O-P upon removal of HCI was revealed. Paul Karl Feyerabend Las proyecciones de la proliferación teórica en la relación ciencia-metafísica

La doctrina de la Proliferación teórica de Paul Karl Feyerabend ha sido interpretada por sus especialistas como un intento de salvaguardar el ideal del progreso científico. Aunque tales estudios hacen justicia, en parte, a la intencionalidad de nuestro filósofo no explicitan la crítica fundamental que implica para Feyerabend el pluralismo teórico. La proliferación teórica constituye en sí misma una reductio ad absurdum de los distintos intentos del positivismo lógico y del racionalismo crítico por definir la ciencia a expensas de lo metafísico. Este artículo presenta la proliferación teórica como una reivindicación del papel positivo que ocupa la metafísica en el quehacer científico. Se consigna la defensa que hace Feyerabend de la metafísica en cuanto que ésta constituye la posibilidad de superar el conservadurismo conceptual, aumentar de contenido empírico de la ciencia y recuperar el valor descriptivo de las teorías científicas.

A 330-360 GHz spectral survey of G 34.3+0.15 .1. Data and physical analysis

A 330--360 GHz spectral survey of the hot molecular core associated with the 'cometary' ultracompact HII region G 34.3+/-0.15 observed with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope has detected 338 spectral lines from at least 35 distinct chemical species plus 19 isotopomers. 70 lines remain unidentified. Chemical abundance and rotation temperature have been determined by rotation diagram analysis for 12 species, and lower limits to abundance found for 38 others.

Perceiving and acting upon spaces in a VR rugby task: Expertise effects in affordance detection and task achievement

This study used a virtual simulated 3vs3 rugby task to investigate whether gaps opening in particular running channels promote different actions by the ball-carrier player and whether an effect of rugby expertise is verified. We manipulated emergent gaps in three different locations: gap1 in the participant’s own running channel, gap 2 in the 1st receiver's running channel, and gap3 in the 2nd receiver's running channel. Recreational, intermediate, professional and non-rugby players performed the task. They could i) run with the ball, ii) make a short pass, or iii) make a long pass. All actions were digitally recorded. Results revealed that the emergence of gaps in the defensive line with respect to the participant’s own position significantly influenced action selection. Namely, ‘run’ was most often the action performed in gap 1, ‘short pass’ in gap 2, and ‘long pass’ in gap 3 trials. Furthermore, a strong positive relationship between expertise and task achievement was found.
