The information constitutes one of the most valuable strategic assets for the organization. However, the organizational environment in which it is inserted is very complex and heterogeneous, making emerging issues relevant to the Governance of information technology (IT) and Information Security. Academic Studies and market surveys indicate that the origin of most accidents with the information assets is the behavior of people organization itself rather than external attacks. Taking as a basis the promotion of a culture of safety among users and ensuring the protection of information in their properties of confidentiality, integrity and availability, organizations must establish its Information Security Policy (PSI). This policy is to formalise the guidelines in relation to the security of corporate information resources, in order to avoid that the asset vulnerabilities are exploited by threats and can bring negative consequences to the business. But, for the PSI being effective, it is required that the user have readiness to accept and follow the procedures and safety standards. In the light of this context, the present study aims to investigate what are the motivators extrinsic and intrinsic that affect the willingness of the user to be in accordance with the organization's security policies. The theoretical framework addresses issues related to IT Governance, Information Security, Theory of deterrence, Motivation and Behavior Pro-social. It was created a theoretical model based on the studies of Herath and Rao (2009) and D'Arcy, Hovav and Galletta (2009) that are based on General Deterrence Theory and propose the following influencing factors in compliance with the Policy: Severity of Punishment, Certainty of Detection, Peer Behaviour, Normative Beliefs, Perceived Effectiveness and Moral Commitment. The research used a quantitative approach, descriptive. The data were collected through a questionnaire with 18 variables with a Likert scale of five points representing the influencing factors proposed by the theory. The sample was composed of 391 students entering the courses from the Center for Applied Social Sciences of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. For the data analysis, were adopted the techniques of Exploratory Factor Analysis, Analysis of Cluster hierarchical and nonhierarchical, Logistic Regression and Multiple Linear Regression. As main results, it is noteworthy that the factor severity of punishment is what contributes the most to the theoretical model and also influences the division of the sample between users more predisposed and less prone. As practical implication, the research model applied allows organizations to provide users less prone and, with them, to carry out actions of awareness and training directed and write Security Policies more effective.

The naturally occurring radionuclide (226Ra,232Th and40K) content of building Materials (NORM) contributes to the total radiation dose experienced by humans. In this survey 27 clay and 68 red mud samples were surveyed with gamma spectrometry and screened according to European Basic Safety Standards (BSS) I-index. It was found that average I-index of clays was 0.6 (0.4–0.8) less than the I-index of 1, which makes them suitable for building material production. The average I-index of red mud 2.3 (1.3–3.0). The maximal mixing ratio of red mud was calculated, varied between 12 and 39 %, with 23 % average.

This study examines the factors that influence public managers in the adoption of advanced practices related to Information Security Management. This research used, as the basis of assertions, Security Standard ISO 27001:2005 and theoretical model based on TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) from Venkatesh and Davis (2000). The method adopted was field research of national scope with participation of eighty public administrators from states of Brazil, all of them managers and planners of state governments. The approach was quantitative and research methods were descriptive statistics, factor analysis and multiple linear regression for data analysis. The survey results showed correlation between the constructs of the TAM model (ease of use, perceptions of value, attitude and intention to use) and agreement with the assertions made in accordance with ISO 27001, showing that these factors influence the managers in adoption of such practices. On the other independent variables of the model (organizational profile, demographic profile and managers behavior) no significant correlation was identified with the assertions of the same standard, witch means the need for expansion researches using such constructs. It is hoped that this study may contribute positively to the progress on discussions about Information Security Management, Adoption of Safety Standards and Technology Acceptance Model

A presente dissertação foi elaborada no âmbito da unidade curricular de DIPRE (Dissertação/Projeto/Estágio), que se encontra no plano de estudos do 2º semestre do 2º ano do Mestrado em Engenharia Civil, no ramo de Construções do Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. O setor da construção civil é um dos que apresenta maior número de acidentes de trabalho e mortes, no mundo, por isso é de suma importância o estudo da segurança do trabalho nos estaleiros. Após a assinatura do Termo de reciprocidade entre Brasil e Portugal, onde são estabelecidas condições para admissão de engenheiros registrados no sistema Confea na Ordem dos engenheiros de Portugal e a recíproca. O conhecimento das normas de segurança se faz necessário para que o engenheiro advindo de outro país tenha as bases teóricas para a prática de suas atividades, assim as normas de segurança de trabalho do Brasil e Portugal foram analisadas, posteriormente realizado, uma análise comparativa entre elas, com o objetivo de verificar diferenças e propor medidas. Com a análise, foi possível verificar que apesar da grande quantidade de normas sobre segurança no trabalho nos estaleiros de obra, algumas já estão ultrapassadas e em desacordo com as exigências atuais. Embora as normas brasileiras e portuguesas serem similares em alguns pontos específicos elas apresentam exigências e métodos distintos para a mesma situação em análise. Verificou-se a necessidade de evolução constante das normas para que estas acompanhem o desenvolvimento tecnológico e das exigências.

Este trabalho de investigação tem como objetivo aferir quais as tarefas e valências específicas necessárias para a manutenção permanente de UAS, em contraste com os requisitos preconizados nos regulamentos de aeronavegabilidade permanente de aeronaves militares. A aeronavegabilidade consiste na avaliação e certificação de uma aeronave voar de acordo com os padrões de segurança estabelecidos. Esta é dividida em aeronavegabilidade continuada, que avalia a condição de uma aeronave após a sua construção, e a aeronavegabilidade permanente, que estabelece as ações de manutenção necessárias para manter os níveis de aeronavegabilidade pretendidos durante a sua operação. Para assegurar que os UAS atingem os padrões aeronáutica atuais, é importante perceber como os regulamentos podem ser adaptados para responder à sua especificidade. Para aferir quais as tarefas e valências de manutenção específicas para UAS, é desenvolvido um modelo qualitativo e indutivo fazendo uso da análise de literatura e dados recolhidos através de entrevistas estruturadas a pessoal de manutenção de UAS. As dimensões consideradas seguem o modelo SHELL preconizado pela ICAO para a análise de fatores humanos em sistemas aeronáuticos. A partir do modelo gerado, é sintetizado um conjunto de conteúdos curriculares como proposta para adequação a UAS dos conteúdos requeridos no EMAR 66. Abstract: This research work has the objective of assessing which specific tasks and skills are necessary for the continuous maintenance of UAS, in contrast with the requirements recommended in the rules and regulations for continuous airworthiness of militar aircrafts. Airworthiness consists on the evaluation and certification of the capability of an aircraft to fly in compliance with the established safety standards. It is divided in initial airworthiness, which evaluates the condition of na aircraft after its construction, and the continuous airworthiness, which establishes what are the necessary maintenance actions in order to keep the desired airworthiness levels during operation. In order to assure that UAS meet the current aeronautics standards, it is paramount to understand how the rules and regulations can be adapted to cope with its specific features. In order to understand which are the specific maintenance tasks and skills specific for UAS, it is developed a qualitative and inductive model taking into consideration a literature analysis and structured interviews to UAS maintenance personnel. The dimensions considered follow the SHELL model recommended by ICAO for the analysis of human factors in aviation. From the developed model, it is synthesized a set of learning topics that serves as a proposal for extending the basic skills required by the EMAR 66.

A research work entitled: “Microbiological analysis of traditionally fermented milk (Ikivuguto) sold in Kinigi Sector of Musanze District,” was carried out at Higher Learning Institution of Applied Sciences (INES-Ruhengeri) Laboratory of Microbiology located near Volcanoes in the Northern Province of Rwanda. The main objective of this work was to determine the microbiological quality of traditionally fermented milk, which is consumed by Kinigi Center local people. The hypothesis was to analyze if traditionally fermented milk commercialized in Kinigi restaurants contained pathogenic bacteria such as fecal coliforms and Escherichia coli , in addition to staphylococci and yeasts. Milk samples were collected from Kinigi sector and examined in the microbiology laboratory in order to assess the microbiological quality and safety of traditionally fermented milk in rural areas. The samples were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively for the microbes found in fermented milk sold in Kinigi Center, and the results were as follows: 7.21x107 CFU/ml for total counts; 3.89x107 CFU/ml for Lactobacillus ; 2.77x107 CFU/ml for yeasts; 1.196x105 CFU/ml for total coliforms; 9.63x104 CFU/ml for fecal coliforms and 8.92x103 CFU/ml for staphylococci. Biochemical tests were carried out and the results showed that identified pathogens were E. coli, Providencia alcalifaciens , and the staphylococci group. It was found that fermented milk contained genera and species of Staphylococcus haemolyticus , Staphylococcus aureus , Staphylococcus intermedius , Staphylococcus xylosus and Staphylococcus saprophyticus . Findings showed that the commercial milk samples were cross-contaminated by different pathogens from environment. These contaminations could have been due to improper handling, presence of flies, soil erosion, dust from atmosphere, as well as contaminated milk vessels or pots, stirrers and unpasteurized water. It was concluded that local farmers and milk retailers did not adhere to required hygienic conditions for milk safety. In this regard, the sold traditional fermented milk does not meet health and safety standards because people did not respect good manufacturing practices. The hypothesis and main objective were confirmed, because traditionally fermented milk of Kinigi was cross-contaminated before consumption. Thus, it would be better to train farmers in the areas of product hygiene, sanitation and safety during milking, processing and marketing.
