GEOMAR's autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV Abyss REMUS 6000) was deployed within the framework of a multi-platform experiment in June 2012 with R/V Maria S. Merian cruise MSM21/1b at about 180 km downstream of Denmark Strait. The scientific payload included a pumped Seabird 49 FastCAT CTD system, a paroscientific pressure sensor, and shear and temperature microstructure profiler from Rockland Scientific Inc.. In total, six of eight AUV dives were carried out successfully. Aborts on three dives were caused by strong counter currents the AUV experienced in the Denmark Strait Overflow plume, which made the AUV fail to reach its waypoints on schedule. During all missions the AUV was programmed to dive at constant depth levels along? straight legs approximately parallel to chosen isobaths with a constant speed of 1.6 m s-1 through the water.

Una aventura literaria de Tío Conejo

     En su conocida Introducción a la literatura fantástica, Tzvetan Todorov señala que los cuentos de hadas generalmente se han adscrito al género de lo maravilloso, porque los acontecimientos sobrenaturales se aceptan como tales, no hay ninguna sorpresa en el hecho de que el mundo esté poblado por animales que hablan.     ¿Ha existido siempre este género en la literatura costarricense? Por lo que se conoce hasta ahora, parece que los primeros cuentos maravillosos nacionales los escribió Carmen Lyra y su protagonista es el célebre tío Conejo. Este personaje se ha vinculado sobre todo con Los cuentos de mi tía Panchita, cuya primera edición es de 1920. Sin embargo, en el libro Cuentos viejos de María Leal, que apareció tres años después, se encuentran varios cuentos de este personaje, y en San Selerín, la revista infantil que dirigía C. Lyra junto con Lilia González, entre 1912 y 1924, también hay otros, que no se incorporaron en las sucesivas ediciones de Los cuentos de mi tía Panchita. Más adelante se publicaron en otras revistas infantiles como Triquitraque y Farolito; en general, se publicaban anónimos; otros aparecen como «Arreglo de San Selerín», varios los firman distintos escritores como Carmen Lyra, María Leal y Carlos Luis Sáenz, algunos parecen traducciones de textos en otras lenguas y de varios países (por ejemplo, de Uncle Remus, de Joel Chandler Harris).     Aparte de los que aparecen en Los cuentos de mi tía Panchita, los demás son poco conocidos porque las revistas ya no circulan. Se han seleccionado aquí seis que tienen en común el personaje, los acontecimientos o el tema. Generalmente se trata del triunfo de tío Conejo, disfrazado de monstruo, que asusta al animal más grande que se ha apoderado del agua o atemoriza a un grupo; al pie de página se consigna dónde apareció publicado cada uno.                                                                    Margarita Rojas G.
