Generation of symmetric periodic orbits by a heteroclinic loop formed by two singular points and their invariant manifolds of dimension 1 and 2 in R3

In this paper we will find a continuous of periodic orbits passing near infinity for a class of polynomial vector fields in R3. We consider polynomial vector fields that are invariant under a symmetry with respect to a plane and that possess a “generalized heteroclinic loop” formed by two singular points e+ and e− at infinity and their invariant manifolds � and . � is an invariant manifold of dimension 1 formed by an orbit going from e− to e+, � is contained in R3 and is transversal to . is an invariant manifold of dimension 2 at infinity. In fact, is the 2–dimensional sphere at infinity in the Poincar´e compactification minus the singular points e+ and e−. The main tool for proving the existence of such periodic orbits is the construction of a Poincar´e map along the generalized heteroclinic loop together with the symmetry with respect to .

Symmetric periodic orbits near a heteroclinic loop in R3 formed by two singular points, a semistable periodic orbit and their invariant manifolds

In this paper we consider C1 vector fields X in R3 having a “generalized heteroclinic loop” L which is topologically homeomorphic to the union of a 2–dimensional sphere S2 and a diameter connecting the north with the south pole. The north pole is an attractor on S2 and a repeller on . The equator of the sphere is a periodic orbit unstable in the north hemisphere and stable in the south one. The full space is topologically homeomorphic to the closed ball having as boundary the sphere S2. We also assume that the flow of X is invariant under a topological straight line symmetry on the equator plane of the ball. For each n ∈ N, by means of a convenient Poincar´e map, we prove the existence of infinitely many symmetric periodic orbits of X near L that gives n turns around L in a period. We also exhibit a class of polynomial vector fields of degree 4 in R3 satisfying this dynamics.

In this paper we consider vector fields in R3 that are invariant under a suitable symmetry and that posses a “generalized heteroclinic loop” L formed by two singular points (e+ and e −) and their invariant manifolds: one of dimension 2 (a sphere minus the points e+ and e −) and one of dimension 1 (the open diameter of the sphere having endpoints e+ and e −). In particular, we analyze the dynamics of the vector field near the heteroclinic loop L by means of a convenient Poincar´e map, and we prove the existence of infinitely many symmetric periodic orbits near L. We also study two families of vector fields satisfying this dynamics. The first one is a class of quadratic polynomial vector fields in R3, and the second one is the charged rhomboidal four body problem.

A method for decision making with the OWA operator

A new method for decision making that uses the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the aggregation of the information is presented. It is used a concept that it is known in the literature as the index of maximum and minimum level (IMAM). This index is based on distance measures and other techniques that are useful for decision making. By using the OWA operator in the IMAM, we form a new aggregation operator that we call the ordered weighted averaging index of maximum and minimum level (OWAIMAM) operator. The main advantage is that it provides a parameterized family of aggregation operators between the minimum and the maximum and a wide range of special cases. Then, the decision maker may take decisions according to his degree of optimism and considering ideals in the decision process. A further extension of this approach is presented by using hybrid averages and Choquet integrals. We also develop an application of the new approach in a multi-person decision-making problem regarding the selection of strategies.

Motor Grader Operator Maintenance of Granular Surfaced Roads : Tips from Iowa Operators, 1991

This booklet is a compilation of notes taken during motor grader operators workshops held at some 20 different locations throughout Iowa during the last two years. It is also the advice of 16 experienced motor grader operators and maintenance foremen (from 14 different counties around Iowa), who serve as instructors and assistant instructors at the "MoGo" workshops. The instructors have all said that they learn as much from the operators who attend the workshops as they impart. Motor grader operators from throughout Iowa have shown us new, innovative and better ways of maintaining gravel roads. This booklet is an attempt to pass on some of these "tips" that we have gathered from Iowa operators. It will need to be revised, corrected, and added to based on the advice we get from you, the operators who do the work here in Iowa.

El maltrato singular cualificado por razon de género. Debate acerca de su constitucionalidad

En la presente aportación se analiza la prosperabilidad de las cuestiones de inconstitucionalidad que en la fecha de publicación del artículo penden ante el Tribunal Constit ucional en referencia al art. 153.1 CP. Con la aprobación de la Ley Orgánica de medidas de protecció integral contra la violencia de género se incluyó en el referido precepto del texto punitivo un tipo cualificado de maltrato singular u ocasional cuando el sujeto pasivo sea esposa o ex-esposa, pareja o ex-pareja, aun sin convivencia, del maltratador, entre otros supuestos agravados. La inclusión de un delito en que tanto el sexo del sujeto pasivo como el del activo se hallan más o menos explicitados ha enerado el planteamiento de un rosario de cuestiones de inconstitucionalidad por parte de distintos órganos jurisdiccionales que están pendientes de resolución ante el Tribunal Constitucional. Dichas cuestiones plantean la posible inconstitucionalidad del art. 153.1 CP sobre la base de su posible contradicción con los arts. 10, 14 y 24.2 CP. En este trabajo se pretende salvar la constitucionalidad del precepto, sobre la base de los postulados del principio de conservación de las normas, con ayuda de una exégesis restrictiva del tipo.

A prospective observational study comparing a non-operator dependent automatic PWV analyser to pulse pressure, in assessing arterial stiffness in hemodialysis.

BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) accelerates vascular stiffening related to age. Arterial stiffness may be evaluated measuring the carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV) or more simply, as recommended by KDOQI, monitoring pulse pressure (PP). Both correlate to survival and incidence of cardiovascular disease. PWV can also be estimated on the brachial artery using a Mobil-O-Graph; a non-operator dependent automatic device. The aim was to analyse whether, in a dialysis population, PWV obtained by Mobil-O-Graph (MogPWV) is more sensitive for vascular aging than PP. METHODS: A cohort of 143 patients from 4 dialysis units has been followed measuring MogPWV and PP every 3 to 6 months and compared to a control group with the same risk factors but an eGFR > 30 ml/min. RESULTS: MogPWV contrarily to PP did discriminate the dialysis population from the control group. The mean difference translated in age between the two populations was 8.4 years. The increase in MogPWV, as a function of age, was more rapid in the dialysis group. 13.3% of the dialysis patients but only 3.0% of the control group were outliers for MogPWV. The mortality rate (16 out of 143) was similar in outliers and inliers (7.4 and 8.0%/year). Stratifying patients according to MogPWV, a significant difference in survival was seen. A high parathormone (PTH) and to be dialysed for a hypertensive nephropathy were associated to a higher baseline MogPWV. CONCLUSIONS: Assessing PWV on the brachial artery using a Mobil-O-Graph is a valid and simple alternative, which, in the dialysis population, is more sensitive for vascular aging than PP. As demonstrated in previous studies PWV correlates to mortality. Among specific CKD risk factors only PTH is associated with a higher baseline PWV. Design of User Authentication System for Multi-operator wireless LANs

Langattomat lähiverkot ovat viime vuosikymmeninä saavuttaneet suuren suosion. Tässä työssä käsitellään käyttäjien todentamisjärjestelmän suunnittelua ja kehitystä langattomaan monioperaattoriverkkoon. Langattomassa monioperaattoriverkossa käyttäjillä on mahdollisuus käyttää eri operaattoreiden palveluita. Aluksi käsitellään olemassa olevia todentamismenetelmiä ja -järjestelmiä. minkä jälkeen kuvaillaan todentamisjärjestelmä langattomille monioperaattoriverkoille. Todentamisjärjestelmän ratkaisuvaihtoehtoja esitellään kaksi, niin sanotut moni- istunto - ja yksittäisistuntomalli. Moni-istuntomalli on normaali lähestymistapa käyttäjien todentamiseen tietokonejärjestelmissä. Siinä käyttäjän pitää tunnistautua ja todentaa itsensä jokaiselle verkon palvelulle erikseen. Yksittäisistuntomallissa pyritään parempaan luotettavuuteen ja käytettävyyteen. Siinä käyttäjä todentaa itsensä vain kerran ja voi sen jälkeen päästä useisiin palveluihin. Työn loppuosassa kuvaillaan suunnitellun järjestelmän toteutusta. Lisäksi ehdotetaan vaihtoehtoisia toteutustapoja, analysoidaan järjestelmän heikkouksia ja kerrotaan jatkokehitysmahdoillisuuksista.

The induced generalized OWA operator

We present the induced generalized ordered weighted averaging (IGOWA) operator. It is a new aggregation operator that generalizes the OWA operator by using the main characteristics of two well known aggregation operators: the generalized OWA and the induced OWA operator. Then, this operator uses generalized means and order inducing variables in the reordering process. With this formulation, we get a wide range of aggregation operators that include all the particular cases of the IOWA and the GOWA operator, and a lot of other cases such as the induced ordered weighted geometric (IOWG) operator and the induced ordered weighted quadratic averaging (IOWQA) operator. We further generalize the IGOWA operator by using quasi-arithmetic means. The result is the Quasi-IOWA operator. Finally, we also develop a numerical example of the new approach in a financial decision making problem.

FLASH-OFDM System Performance Studies for Wireless Broadband Network Operator Services

@450 wireless broadband service is Digita’s mobile wireless broadband network service. In @450 network Digita acts as the network operator offering network capacity to service operators. For Digita it is important to know what kind of services its network is capable of and what are the network’s service parameters. The knowledge of the network parameters and the behaviour can be used in advance in the development of new service products. Before a new service product can be offered to service operators a lot of work has to be done. The basic testing is necessary to get an understanding of the basic functionality. The requirement specification has to be done and a new product has to be created. The new product has to be tested. The test results have to be analysed in order to find out if the new product is suitable for real use and with which limitations. The content of this Thesis is the development of wireless technologies, @450 service and network, FLASH-OFDM technology, FLASH-OFDM performance testing and the development of a new service product.

Projeto terapêutico singular no âmbito da saúde mental: uma experiência no curso de graduação em medicina

O Jardim Campo Belo, localizado no município de Campinas (SP), é um bairro de alta vulnerabilidade social e grande demanda por serviços de saúde, sendo a única oferta em saúde mental o matriciamento com outra unidade de saúde. Neste contexto, durante as disciplinas do segundo ano de Medicina, foi realizado um projeto de intervenção no Centro de Saúde, mediante acompanhamento em domicilio de pacientes usuários de psicotrópicos. Realizaram-se visitas quinzenais às casas de dez pacientes. Nestas visitas, trabalhou-se um roteiro semidirigido, em que se buscou conhecer as demandas de cada paciente. Alguns destes aumentaram os cuidados com a própria saúde, e num caso houve até suspensão do uso dos medicamentos psicotrópicos, em parceria com a equipe; em outros casos, as visitas serviram como válvula de escape social, tornando-se um espaço onde se ofertava atenção aos que estavam acostumados ao abandono social. Os alunos envolvidos relatam grande aprendizado graças às vivências e ao envolvimento com o tema, que se tornou um grande suplemento pedagógico.
