The use of the SeDeM diagram expert system for the formulation of Captopril SR matrix tablets by direct compression

The SeDeM Diagram Expert System has been used to study excipients, Captopril and designed formulations for their galenic characterization and to ascertain the critical points of the formula affecting product quality to obtain suitable formulations of Captopril Direct Compression SR Matrix Tablets. The application of the Sedem Diagram Expert System enables selecting excipients with in order to optimize the formula in the preformulation and formulation studies. The methodology is based on the implementation of ICH Q8, establishing the design space of the formula with the use of experiment design, using the parameters of the SeDeM Diagram Expert System as system responses.

Experiencia de 10 años de innovación docente en la Unidad de Laboratorios Docentes (ULD) de la Facultad de Farmacia

[spa]En este trabajo se describe la experiencia de innovación docente desarrollada en la ULD a lo largo de los 10 años de existencia. Se comentan algunos de los indicadores del sistema de gestión de la calidad así como su evolución y los resultados más representativos obtenidos en su alimentación. El objetivo de este proyecto es introducir aspectos de la gestión de la calidad, seguridad, salud y medio ambiente en la formación de los estudiantes para que los apliquen a lo largo del desarrollo de las prácticas. De esta forma, podrán adquirir una formación transversal adicional que difícilmente le será transmitida a través de las diferentes asignaturas de la licenciatura y que mejorará sus competencias y facilitará su acceso al ámbito laboral. También se pretende contribuir en la mejora del funcionamiento y las infraestructuras de los laboratorios de prácticas de la facultad. [eng] In the following work it is summarized the innovative experience carried out by the ULD besides showing the results obtained from the different indicators that allow to evaluate the efficiency of the quality management system. The aim is to improve the management of the practical teaching by introducing aspects of quality management, safety, health and environment in the formation of the students. In such a way, they would be able to acquire a transverse additional formation that difficultly would be transmitted across the different subjects of the degree and that would improve their competitions when acceding to the working world.

Disseny de la cuina central d'una empresa dedicada a la restauració comercial

El projecte consisteix en el disseny d'una cuina central en una nau industrial propietat d'una empresa del sector de la restauració comercial. Es duu a terme la selecció dels sistemes de gestió i organització, producció i distribució i consum. S'hi defineixen les zones en que s'estructura la cuina, la distribució d'aquestes i la dotació bàsica corresponent en base als principis d'higiene alimentària. S'inclou també l'adequació de l'espai de treball a la normativa vigent d'accessibilitat i la instal·lació de protecció contra incendis. Així mateix, es desenvolupen els càlculs corresponents al disseny de tres de les cambres frigorífiques de que consta la cuina.

La situación de la consultoría de calidad especializada en ISO 9000 en España

El artículo se basa en un estudio empírico del sector de consultoría especializada en ISO 9000 en Cataluña. En primer lugar, se realiza una segmentación de las empresas que acuden a un consultor para obtener asesoramiento en el proceso de implantación de la norma. De esta forma se observa el comportamiento diferenciado de tres tipologías de empresas. Cada tipología persigue distintos intereses en el proyecto de consultoría que les llevará a la certificación. Se analiza también el trabajo del consultor: en primer lugar se mide el grado de satisfacción del servicio prestado. Más adelante, se buscan las dimensiones que definen la calidad en este tipo de servicio. Finalmente, se concluye con listado de puntos en los que las consultorías deben mejorar para aumentar el grado de satisfacción de sus clientes.

Measuring service quality in sport management: an application of the SERVQUAL scale

The aim of this study is to provide an instrument for measuring service quality in sports enterprises from the point of view of the customers. For this purpose we intend to elaborate an enquiry starting out from a more general scale called SERVIQUAL. We have limited our research project to sports enterprises where the customer participates actively, i.e., we have excluded sports clubs and other organizations which offer sport as entertainment. Our choice is mainly due to the fact that few studies have been carried out in this area and that sports has been earning an increasing amount of adepts during the last decades in Spain. The DELPHI method has been applied with the collaboration of a panel of experts in order to evaluate the viability and adequacy of the modified SERVQUAL scale.

La calidad de las repoblaciones forestales: una aproximación desde la selvicultura y la ecofisiología

El proceso de repoblación forestal es bastante complejo, ya que implica numerosos factores, cada uno de los cuales debe ser comprendido de forma individual, y conocidas sus relaciones con otros factores con los cuales interactúa. La forma de evaluar de manera integral el resultado de estos factores es mediante el control de calidad. La respuesta de la planta en una estación particular va a depender de la capacidad de respuesta a unas condiciones ambientales limitantes, y de la forma en como esas condiciones limitan su supervivencia y crecimiento, o bien pueden ser modificadas para mejorar su arraigo. Las actividades culturales propias de las repoblaciones (ej. proceimiento de preparación, control de la vegetación, cuidados culturales, etc.) van a influir de manera directa en el éxito de la misma. La adecuada ejecución y el control de las mismas van a permitir mejorar el éxito de las repoblaciones, pero también ayudan a identificar las causas de las perdidas producidas y, por tanto, corregir defectos que condicionan su éxito final.

Impact of quality improvement tools on the performance of firms using different quality management systems

This study compares the impact of quality management tools on the performance of organisations utilising the ISO 9001:2000 standard as a basis for a quality-management system band those utilising the EFQM model for this purpose. A survey is conducted among 107 experienced and independent quality-management assessors. The study finds that organisations with qualitymanagement systems based on the ISO 9001:2000 standard tend to use general-purpose qualitative tools, and that these do have a relatively positive impact on their general performance. In contrast, organisations adopting the EFQM model tend to use more specialised quantitative tools, which produce significant improvements in specific aspects of their performance. The findings of the study will enable organisations to choose the most effective quality-improvement tools for their particular quality strategy

Monitoring Fatigue Status with HRV Measures in Elite Athletes : An Avenue Beyond RMSSD?

Among the tools proposed to assess the athlete's "fatigue," the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) provides an indirect evaluation of the settings of autonomic control of heart activity. HRV analysis is performed through assessment of time-domain indices, the square root of the mean of the sum of the squares of differences between adjacent normal R-R intervals (RMSSD) measured during short (5 min) recordings in supine position upon awakening in the morning and particularly the logarithm of RMSSD (LnRMSSD) has been proposed as the most useful resting HRV indicator. However, if RMSSD can help the practitioner to identify a global "fatigue" level, it does not allow discriminating different types of fatigue. Recent results using spectral HRV analysis highlighted firstly that HRV profiles assessed in supine and standing positions are independent and complementary; and secondly that using these postural profiles allows the clustering of distinct sub-categories of "fatigue." Since, cardiovascular control settings are different in standing and lying posture, using the HRV figures of both postures to cluster fatigue state embeds information on the dynamics of control responses. Such, HRV spectral analysis appears more sensitive and enlightening than time-domain HRV indices. The wealthier information provided by this spectral analysis should improve the monitoring of the adaptive training-recovery process in athletes.
