Larva of Atractocerus Brasiliensis (Lepeletier & Audinet-Serville, 1825) (Lymexylidae, Atractocerinae)

The larva of Atractocerus brasiliensis (Lepeletier & Audinet-Serville, 1825), collected for the first time in Pinus oocarpa Schiede ex Schltdl. (Pinaceae) is described and illustrated. Until now, for Lymexylidae, only the larva of Melittomma sp. (Melittomminae) was known from the neotropical region (Brazil). Biological notes, a comparison with the description of A. brevicornis, the type-species of the genus (recorded from Africa and Madagascar), and history of the known lymexylid larvae are also included.

This research monograph seeks, as the author puts it, ‘to demonstrate the utility of ethnographic research methods to industrial relations in the developing world’. To this end, the author provides case studies of two lock factories in the West Midlands of England, with data sourced from interviews and observations by the author during a period of two decades in the case of one, and a rather shorter period in the case of the other. The insights gleaned from these two case studies are then considered in the light of the ethnographic literature on industrial relations in the developing world. The body of the book comprises three main chapters which successively examine the issues of paternalism, gender and family, and collective action in the two factories.

A partir do suplemento semanal ‘literário e ilustrado’ do jornal A Batalha (1919-1927), foram seleccionados os textos que Adelaide Cabete 1 , Presidente do CNMP (Conselho Nacional das Mulheres Portuguesas), fez sair a partir 3 de Dezembro de 1923, naquele que chegou a ser o segundo periódico de maior tiragem no nosso país, assinando, Adelaide Cabette médica. As batalhas que travou na vida foram muitas, assim como profícua foi a sua intervenção e empenhada a sua luta. Contudo, em que medida os textos que insere neste suplemento testemunham o pioneirismo por que foi (e é) motivo de orgulho para tantas mulheres?
