Avaliação crítica da cirurgia na hipertensão portal esquistossômica

There are over 100.000 patients affected by schistosomotic portal hipertension, that may suffer rupture of the esophageal varices. Besides the portal hypertension, local factors must be emphazised as responsible for the three distal centimeters of the esophagus, called "zona vulnerável" (vulnerable zone). The beter liver functional reserve of these schistosomotic patients as compared to the cirrhotic, present two favorable condititions: (1) beter possibility of conservative treatment during acute hemorrhage; (2) elective surgical treatment may be undergo without a mandatory step of large portal descompression. The Author only indicate surgical treatment in patients with hemorrhage antecedence and his preference consist in splenectomy plus obliterative suture of the varices at the "vulnerable zone" and when possible, ligature of left gastric vein also; 358 patients were undergone surgery with operative mortality 3.07%, 347 were followed during 1 to 25 years; late mortality 8.38%; recurrence hemorrage 11.58%; none porto-sustemic encephalopaty was observed.

DUGi, portal d'accés als materials en obert de la UdG

Desprès d'un cert temps de rodatge amb els tres repositoris institucionals de la UdG: DUGiDocs, DUGiMedia i DUGiFonsEspecials, haver-los migrat a la versió 1.5.2 de Dspace, i millorat les prestacions que ens permet el programari, ha arribat el moment de millorar l'eina que ens permet fer que el DUGi sigui un portal útil des del punt de vista de la usabilitat, visibilitat i difusió dels materials que es poden consultar als diferents repositoris.

L'aprenentatge basat en problemes (PBL) en la regulació del metabolisme. Desenvolupament del portal per a l'intercanvi d'experiències en PBL en ciències biomèdiques

L’aprenentatge basat en problemes està en fase experimental en tot el món i és objecte d’anàlisi i reflexió en moltes reunions internacionals. Tanmateix, no hi ha massa feina feta en aquesta direcció en el nostre camp més proper. Hem elaborat problemes per l’aprenentatge de la Regulació del Metabolisme i els hem incorporat a un porta virtual (http://www.ub.edu/GID-BBM). La finalitat d’aquesta estratègia és que mitjançant l’aprenentatge basat en problemes reals o simulacions de problemes reals s’aconsegueixi motivar l’alumnat a treballar de forma continuada durant tot el curs. La millora dels resultats acadèmics haurà de ser la conseqüència lògica d’aquest treball. La finalitat última del projecte que hem desenvolupat és preparar l’alumnat per la seva futura activitat professional a on serà molt important i valorat la seva capacitat de resposta davant de diferents problemes

Aplicació web per a empreses mitjanes amb un nombre considerable de treballadors per tal que puguin mantenir un control sobre les seves activitats i poder automatitzar unes altres. També serà per als treballadors ja que es fomentarà la comunicació entre iguals. Tindrem diversos tipus d’usuaris segons el seu càrrec i responsabilitat dins l’empresa, amb interfícies d'usuari diferents.

Portal veins of mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni exhibit an increased reactivity to 5-hydroxytryptamine

In chronic severe infection with Schistosoma mansoni, portal hypertension and related vascular alterations usually develop as a consequence of granulomatous response to eggs. In order to investigate a putative direct effect of worms on the reactivity of their host portal vein, mice infected only with male worms were used in the present study. An higher reactivity to 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) characterized by an increase in the maximal contraction and sensitivity was observed in portal vein from infected mice compared to healthy mice. Blockade of NO-synthase with l-NAME induced a small increase in 5-HT potency in portal vein from non-infected mice without changing the amplitude of the contractions, whereas it did not alter the reactivity of veins from infected mice. The present results show that unisexual infection of mice with male S. mansoni increased the reactivity of the portal vein to 5-HT which seems to be partially related to an alteration in the nitric oxide release by endothelium.

Myofibroblasts in Schistosomal Portal Fibrosis of Man

Myofibroblasts, cells with intermediate features between smooth muscle cells and fibroblasts, have been described as an important cellular component of schistosomal portal fibrosis. The origin, distribution and fate of myofibroblasts were investigated by means of light, fluorescent, immunoenzymatic and ultrastructural techniques in wedge liver biopsies from 68 patients with the hepatosplenic form of schistosomiasis. Results demonstrated that the presence of myofibroblasts varied considerably from case to case and was always related to smooth muscle cell dispersion, which occurred around medium-sized damaged portal vein branches. By sequential observation of several cases, it was evident that myofibroblasts derived by differentiation of vascular smooth muscle and gradually tended to disappear, some of them further differentiating into fibroblasts. Thus, in schistosomal pipestem fibrosis myofibroblasts appear as transient cells, focally accumulated around damaged portal vein branches, and do not seem to have by themselves any important participation in the pathogenesis of hepatosplenic schistosomiasis.

Reconstrucción del ligamento cruzado anterior desde el portal anteromedial; evaluación de la fijación femoral en un modelo cadavérico

Objectiu. Valorar el risc de lesió de les estructures posterolaterals del genoll realitzant una reconstrucció del Lligament Encreuat Anterior (LEA) mitjançant plàstia d’isquiotibials i fixació femoral am sistema Cross-Pin. Material. 10 genolls cadavèrics frescs. Reconstrucció artroscòpica del LEA mitjançant túnel anatòmic des del portal anteromedial. Dissecció anatòmica del genoll mesurant distàncies del Cross-Pin al Lligament Col•lateral Lateral (LCL), tendó popliti, nervi peroneo i tendó gastroecnemi lateral. Resultats. LCL i gastroecnemi tenen un alt risc de ser lesionats mitjançant aquest sistema Conclusió. El sistema de fixació Cross-Pin, com l’hem utilitzat, té un alt risc de lesionar les estructures laterals del genoll.

Portal web per la gestió i recuperació de residus d'una PIME

Aquest projecte tracta de fer un portal web vistós i amigable per a una empresa gestora de residus de nom Distiller S.A. L’empresa està a punt d’expandir-se pel territori nacional i vol començar a captar nous mercats. Amb aquesta intenció s’ha realitzat un projecte que diferencia ben clarament el que vol el client: una part pública i una part privada o administrable. La part pública conté suficient informació per a que qualsevol visitant estigui al dia respecte a l’activitat de l’empresa. La part privada és accessible per a tot usuari que es vulgui registrar i vol solucionar el problema de poc contacte amb el Client i agilitzar la forma de comunicar-se entre departaments.

Portal web para la gestión de tutorías para proyectos de fin de carrera

Este proyecto consiste en la realización de una aplicación web que recoge las funcionalidades de un gestor de tutorías para los proyectos final de carrera. Tienen acceso 3 tipos de usuario: alumno, profesor y gestor. El alumno puede visualizar las tutorías asignadas por el tutor, participar en un foro público entre los usuarios del gestor, compartir los archivos del proyecto con el tutor, reservar una serie de recursos disponibles para la realización del proyecto y comunicarse con el profesor mediante una mensajería interna. El profesor tiene las mismas funcionalidades que el alumno, pero se le añaden las siguientes: introducir tutorías, asignar proyectos, crear proyectos, e introducir una planificación de tareas para el desarrollo del proyecto. El gestor se encarga de la gestión de enlaces de interés publicados por los profesores, de los usuarios y los recursos.

Confecció del portal de l'investigador universitari

Este proyecto consiste en la elaboración de una propuesta del portal web para permitir la investigación y compartir investigaciones entre los investigadores de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Esta memoria explica las necesidades del proyecto, el diseño de la solución, la implementación de dichas solución y los resultados, para finalmente exponer las conclusiones y ampliaciones futuras. Para llevar a cabo el proyecto se realizó un estudio de los Web Desktop y la gestión interna de ellos, y finalmente se optó por realizar uno nuevo por las grandes diferencias entre las necesidades y lo existente. El producto se llama “UAB OS”.

Surgical indication in Schistosomiasis mansoni portal hypertension: follow-up from 1985 to 2001

The study had the objective to evaluate the benefits of surgical indication for portal hypertension in schistosomiasis patients followed from 1985 to 2001. Schistosoma mansoni eggs were confirmed by at least six stool examinations or rectal biopsy. Clinical examination, abdominal ultrasonography, and digestive endoscopy confirmed the diagnosis of esophageal varices. A hundred and two patients, 61.3% male (14-53 years old) were studied. Digestive hemorrhage, hypersplenism, left hypochondrial pain, abdominal discomfort, and hypogonadism were, in a decreasing order, the major signs and symptoms determining surgical indication. Among the surgical techniques employed, either splenectomy associated to splenorenal anastomosis or azigoportal desvascularization, esophageal gastric descompression and esophageal sclerosis were used. Follow-up of patients revealed that, independent on the technique utilized, a 9.9% of death occurred, caused mainly by digestive hemorrhage due to the persistence of post-treatment varices. The authors emphasize the benefits of elective surgical indication allowing a normal active life.
