Décrire et convaincre: rhétoriques visuelles de la cinématographie en médecine [Describe and convince: visual rhetoric of cinematography in medicine]

The tools of visualisation occupy a central place in medicine. Far from being simple accessories of glance, they literally constitute objects of medicine. Such empirical acknowledgement and epistemological position open a vast field of investigation: visual technologies of medical knowledge. This article studies the development and transformation of medical objects which have permitted to assess the role of temporality in the epistemology of medicine. It firstly examines the general problem of the relationships between cinema, animated image and medicine and secondly, the contribution of the German doctor Martin Weiser to medical cinematography as a method. Finally, a typology is sketched out organising the variety of the visual technology of movement under the perspective of the development of specific visual techniques in medicine.

L'unité de médecine des violences : une consultation médicolégale assurée par des infirmières

En janvier 2006, l'institut universitaire de médecine légale a ouvert l'unité de médecine des violences qui offre une consultation médicolégale spécialisée dans la prise en charge des adultes victimes de violence. La consultation est assurée par des infirmières dont la formation et la supervision sont conduites par des médecins légistes. Besides the growing diversity of the fields covered by internal medicine, these various topics underline also the uncertainty internists have to face in a practice directed towards evidence.

The primary care practitioner, as the emergency room doctor, has to identify quickly any severe condition needing urgent and highly specialized treatment. But in primary care, the process is not finished then! A patient with no vital and urgent problem still needs a diagnosis, information and adequate treatment. This review goes over the presentation of thoracic pain, the differential diagnoses and the challenge of treating such patients in ambulatory care.
