STRUCTURE OF THE RETE TESTIS OF THE CAT (FELIS-DOMESTICA, L)

The rete testis of the cat consists of 3 parts: a septal or interlobular part; a mediastinal part and a tunical part. The septal part contains the septal or transitory tubuli recti and the tubuli recti. The transitory tubules are formed as a confluence of the seminiferous tubules at the apex of the testicular lobules and the tubuli recti. The mediastinal rete is formed of long, straight channels which increase in size and become more irregular and anastomotic below the tunica albuginea at the cranial extremity of the testis. The end is characterized as the tunical part of the rete testis and communicates with the extratesticular rete testis. The channels all parts of the rete are lined by simple cuboidal or columnar epithelium. These epithelial channels are supported by a connective tissue containing smooth muscle cells. The framework tissue of the rete is more conspicuous at the cranial extremity of the testis, with a mio-connective matrix organization.

A scanning electron microscopic study of the rete testis of the guinea pig

Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) observations of the structure of the rete testis (RT) of guinea pigs preceded by and complemented with stereomicroscopy and light-microscopic studies showed that the RT of this species is predominantly cavitary. An axial and labyrinth-like morphological pattern was also observed in the RT complex, with partially interconnected chambers and epithelium-lined channels accompanying a connective axis observed in the middle portion of the cranial end of the testis. Characteristics of the chordae retis and bullae retis were also visualized in the guinea pig RT and the results are discussed in terms of the morphological patterns observed in the RT of other mammals and of man.

The ultrastructure of the guinea pig rete testis

The chambers of the rete testis (RT) of guinea pig are lined by a simple epithelium, whose cells are squamous, cubical and columnar in shape. The epithelial cells with distinct shapes were counted and the quantitative analysis of the number of these cells showed relative predominance of cubical cells. The ultrastructural observations showed predominance of membrane interdigitations among the epithelial cells. These cells present common cytoplasmic organelles. The Golgi complex polarity is typical with observation of electronlucent vesicles on the Golgi cis face closely related to rough endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lamellae, mitochondria and large number of polysomes on the Golgi trans face. These related structures present in Golgi area of RT cells suggest secretory activity which maybe occurs in the RT epithelium. Endocytotic process also occurs in the RT and this function probably concerns the uptake of substances and resorption of seminiferous fluid. Apical cilia present in RT epithelium cells are related with fluid transport and perhaps with chemoreception. Presence of spermatozoa portions enclosed into the cytoplasm of some epithelium cells has been refferred to as spermatophagy. The RT complex is mainly supported by loose connective tissue, with collagen fibres and some Leydig cells. Leydig cells are adjacent to the network channels of the septal part of the RT and apparently are able to secrete inside the RT lumen.

Catos de la pervivencia en la tradición oral de Santa Lucía de Tirajana del Romancero Infantil

[ES] El romancero es un género vivo desde la Edad Media, que su afán de supervivencia hace que se recree y se adapte a las distintas realidades en las que se ha desarrollado. Supone una parte importante de nuestro acervo cultural, enraizado descaradamente a la historia del mundo panhispánico. A pesar de esto y de la considerable cantidad de romances recopilados y publicados, con los profundos cambios sociales, la desfuncionalización lo convierte en la crónica de una muerte anunciada. Sin embargo, a lo largo de los años estos poemas encontraron cobijo y sustento en las canciones y los juegos de las niñas, ya mujeres. El presente artículo es el reflejo de esa realidad en la zona de Santa Lucía de Tirajana y es el resultado de parte de un proyecto elaborado en el municipio, bajo el título, Manifestaciones de la tradición oral de Santa Lucía de Tirajana: Estado y Rasgos Diferenciales.

[ES] La legislación indica que todo producto perecedero destinado a la alimentación humana debe exhibir la fecha a partir de la cual se considera que su consumo deja de ser seguro. Esta es la fecha de caducidad o expiración. Las latas de bebidas no son una excepción. MONICOD, la herramienta presentada en este documento de tesis, es un esfuerzo más en esta área de aplicación de validadores industriales de fechas de caducidad. Su particularidad es su alta velocidad de operación. Esto es, trata de maximizar el número de latas por unidad de tiempo. Para lograrlo combina varias estrategias. En primer lugar se ha construido una plataforma física que amortigua algunos efectos indeseables del entorno de operación. Su elemento más prominente es una cámara oscura. En segundo lugar los algoritmos que se encadenan en la operación de validación gozan de una gran simplicidad, especialmente respecto al tipo de operaciones empleadas (sumas) y el tipo de datos (enteros). Esto los hace muy asequibles al cómputo. Por otra parte se ha evitado depender de un hardware específico y así MONICOD no depende de ningún fabricante en particular y puede correr en un computador doméstico.
