Decimation Filter Design Toolbox for Multi-Standard Wireless Transceivers using MATLAB.

The demand for new telecommunication services requiring higher capacities, data rates and different operating modes have motivated the development of new generation multi-standard wireless transceivers. A multi-standard design often involves extensive system level analysis and architectural partitioning, typically requiring extensive calculations. In this research, a decimation filter design tool for wireless communication standards consisting of GSM, WCDMA, WLANa, WLANb, WLANg and WiMAX is developed in MATLAB® using GUIDE environment for visual analysis. The user can select a required wireless communication standard, and obtain the corresponding multistage decimation filter implementation using this toolbox. The toolbox helps the user or design engineer to perform a quick design and analysis of decimation filter for multiple standards without doing extensive calculation of the underlying methods.

Digitale Ausweise

Digitale Ausweise (Ausweise mit einem Chip) werden in vielen Staaten vor allem aus zwei Gründen eingeführt. Zum einen wird in ihnen ein Mittel gesehen, um die drei wesentlichen Basistechnologien des elektronischen Rechts-, Geschäfts- und Verwaltungsverkehrs, Signieren, Verschlüsseln und Authentifizieren, bei den Nutzern zu verbreiten. Zum anderen werden sie als Mittel gesehen, um die Sicherheit staatlicher Ausweise als Identifizierungsinstrument durch zusätzliche automatisiert prüfbare biometrische Merkmale zu verbessern. Digitale Ausweise könnten schließlich - bisher weitgehend unbeachtet - Träger elektronischer Ausweise für die selbstbestimmte Benutzung im "Cyberspace" sein. Der Beitrag untersucht die Chancen und Risiken digitaler Ausweise hinsichtlicher dieser Zielsetzungen.

Embedding objects into Matlab/Simulink for process supervision

This paper introduces how artificial intelligence technologies can be integrated into a known computer aided control system design (CACSD) framework, Matlab/Simulink, using an object oriented approach. The aim is to build a framework to aid supervisory systems analysis, design and implementation. The idea is to take advantage of an existing CACSD framework, Matlab/Simulink, so that engineers can proceed: first to design a control system, and then to design a straightforward supervisory system of the control system in the same framework.
