Workmen's Circle collection, undated, 1903-1993.

Collection consists of material from the administration, services, individual branches, and schools of the Workmen's Circle. The majority of the collection are publications of the Workmen's Circle relating to conventions and education. The collection also includes annual reports, newsletters, bulletins, and pamphlets.

Industrial Removal Office records undated, 1899-1922

Contains Board of Directors minutes (1903, 1907), Executive Committee minutes (1907), Removal Committee minutes (1903-1917), Annual Reports (1910, 1913), Monthly Reports (1901-1919), Monthly Bulletins (1914-1915), studies of those removed, Bressler's "The Removal Work, Including Galveston," and several papers relating to the IRO and immigration. Financial papers include a budget (1914), comparative per capita cost figures (1909-1922), audits (1915-1918), receipts and expenditures (1918-1922), investment records, bank balances (1907-1922), removal work cash book (1904-1911), office expenses cash account (1903-1906), and the financial records of other agencies working with the IRO (1906). Includes also removal case records of first the Jewish Agricultural Society (1899-1900), and then of the IRO (1901-1922) when it took over its work, family reunion case records (1901-1904), and the follow-up records of persons removed to various cities (1903-1914). Contains also the correspondence of traveling agents' contacts throughout the U.S. from 1905-1914, among them Stanley Bero, Henry P. Goldstein, Philip Seman, and Morris D. Waldman.

American Jewish Tercentenary celebration collection undated, 1949-1956

Contains correspondence, monthly newsletter and other publications of the American Jewish Tercentenary Committee. Also contains correspondence of the Tercentenary Committee of the American Jewish Historical Society primarily relating to the Conference of Historians (September, 1954) and correspondence, financial records and reports of the Office of Historical Information set up jointly by the AJHS and the American Jewish Tercentenary Committee. Includes also material relating to tercentenary celebrations and exhibits sponsored by the National Committee and various state and local committees, universities and synagogues, particularly Cong. Shearith Israel in New York City.

Baron de Hirsch Fund records undated, 1870-1991.

Contains Deed of Trust, By-Laws, Annual Reports, Corporation Minutes (1909, 1913-1919, 1923-1924, 1926-1933), Minutes of the Board of Trustees (1893, 1899, 1907, 1910, 1915-1916, 1918, 1923, 1926-1927, 1930-1933), and the minutes, correspondence, and reports of the various national and local committees. Financial materials include income and expenditure records (1891-1933), audits (1919-1923, 1926-1928), the records of agricultural loans and mortgages, bond and real estate holdings, and bequests. Includes also correspondence and other materials regarding the establishment of the Fund, correspondence of and other papers concerning the Baron and Baroness de Hirsch, and several histories of the Fund. Included in the wide range of activities are material on the work of the Agriculture Bureau and the Jewish Agriculture Society, Housing, English Classes, Immigration (including monthly reports for several ports of entry 1885-1916) and Immigrant Aid, German Refugee Aid in the early years of the Holocaust, Kings Park, N.Y. Test Farm, the Laundry Project, Peekskill Farm, Public Baths, Student Loans, the Baron de Hirsch Trade School, and the Woodbine Colony and Baron De Hirsch Agricultural & Industrial School. Wagner Kokisch Family Correspondence 1902-1949

The bulk of the correspondence was sent 1939-1941 from Anna Deutsch and then 1945/46 from Irene Lichtblau-Reger, both in Vienna, Austria, to Adele and Margarete Wagner, who lived with the Kokisch family (Ernest, Gertrud and Ron) in New York.

De la rama al partido : leyes, militancias y liderazgos entre 1948-1949

Resumen: Este artículo procura dar cuenta del escenario legal y político abierto con la sanción de la ley de Derechos Políticos de la Mujer en 1947. Entre ellos, los mecanismos que el estado solventó con el empadronamiento de las mujeres y la confección de los documentos de identidad; la sanción de la normativa acorde al voto femenino en las provincias a fin de no desvirtuar el espíritu de ley nacional; y la ley de Estatutos de Partidos Políticos. Los aspectos políticos revelaban los cambios y reacomodamientos de la rama femenina que integraban los centros cívicos partidarios; la aparición en escena y el juego político que emprendieron algunas primeras damas provinciales. Todos estos temas son analizados a la luz de la incesante metamorfosis que adquiría Eva Perón, que troca de primera dama a líder popular.

Notas sobre un jurista olvidado : Julio Herrera y su intervención parlamentaria con motivo de la reforma del código penal en la República Argentina (1902-1903)

Resumen: Este trabajo pretende contribuir a una producción historiográfica en desarrollo en los últimos años cuyo objetivo es el estudio de los discursos y prácticas de un conjunto de juristas argentinos adherentes al positivismo penal que desde fines del siglo XIX impulsaron una serie de iniciativas de reforma penal y penitenciaria (creación y dirección de instituciones carcelarias y post penitenciarias; renovación de la producción científica y universitaria; elaboración de propuestas legislativas; etc.). En esta ocasión, analizaremos la figura de Julio Herrera, uno de los más distinguidos penalistas argentinos, aunque paradójicamente ignorado por los estudios históricos e histórico-jurídicos, centrándonos en su intervención parlamentaria con motivo del proyecto de reforma del código penal presentado en la Cámara de Senadores en 1903.
