La perception subjective de l'effet des neuroleptiques chez des patients schizophrènes ambulatoires: une étude transversale [Subjective perception of the effect of neuroleptics by outpatient schizophrenic patients: a cross-sectional study].

Subjective response to neuroleptics is essential to long term observance of treatment and quality of life of patients. Numerous factors (pharmacological, relational and psychopathological) are responsible of this subjective response. Objectives of this study are: (a) to examine psychometric features of the french version of the Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI-30) [13] and (b) to explore pharmacological, relational and psychopathological factors related to this subjective response. Subjects and methods: 78 subjects were rated (self rated response rate 61% (n = 48)) for (a) subjective response to neuroleptics, (b) compliance, (c) therapeutic alliance, (d) symptoms (e) severity of disorder. RESULTS: Factor analysis yielded 2 main clinically relevant factors, similar to the original version: (I) global subjective response and (II) specific subjective response. Internal consistency is high. Correspondance analysis showed two important dimensions in the treatment of schizophrenic patients: (I) Recovery--aggravation, (II) Therapeutic ambition--positive or negative symptoms. CONCLUSION: French version of DAI-30 seems to have a similar structure and psychometric features as the original version. It shows concordance with the degree of compliance. Pharmacological factors are not the only factors implicated in subjective response, but are still to be identified. Limitations of our study are: (a) nonhomogenous indication for treatment, (b) small rate and degree of non compliance in our sample. Relationships between therapeutic ambition, type of symptoms and treatment outcome should be further studied.

Development of Evaluation, Rehabilitation, and Strengthening Concepts for Low Volume Bridges, Phase I Progress Report, HR-323, 1990

The primary objective of this project is to develop a design manual that would aid the county or municipal engineer in making structurally sound bridge strengthening or replacement decisions. The contents of this progress report are related only to Phase I of the study and deal primarily with defining the extent of the bridge problem in Iowa. In addition, the types of bridges to which the manual should be directed have been defined.

Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network: Weekly Activity Report Week 48, December 5, 2015

The Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network (IISN) was established in 2004, though surveillance has been conducted at the Iowa Department of Public Health. Schools and long-term care facilities report data weekly into a Web-based reporting system. Schools report the number of students absent due to illness and the total enrolled. Long-term care facilities report cases of influenza and vaccination status of each case. Both passively report outbreaks of illness, including influenza, to IDPH.

OHJAUSPALVELU H.323-SUOSITUKSEEN POHJAUTUVIIN MULTIMEDIANEUVOTTELUPALVELIMIIN

IP-verkko asettaa uusia vaatimuksia palveluntarjoajille multimedianeu-vottelupalvelujen toteuttamisessa. Samalla kuitenkin mahdollistuu myös ominaisuuksia, joita ei ole aikaisemmin voitu toteuttaa. Keskeinen elementti IP-pohjaisille on H.323-suosituk-seen pohjautuva MCU. Tässä työssä esitellään ja vertaillaan multimedianeuvottelupalveluissa ennen ja nykyään käytettyä tekniikkaa. Huomiota kiinnitetään myös neuvottelukulttuuriin ja multimedianeuvotteluissa tarvittaviin rooleihin. Työn käytännön osuudessa toteutettiin prototyyppi neuvottelupalvelusta, joka hyödyntää IP-maailman mahdollistamia uusia ominaisuuksia. Toteutuksen suunnitteluun, määrittelyyn ja dokumentointiin käytettiin UML-kieltä. Ohjelmointikielenä käytettiin Javaa.

1.48 and 1.84 µm thulium emissions in monoclinic KGd(WO4)2 single crystals

By exciting at 788 nm, we have characterized the near infrared emissions of trivalent thulium ions in monoclinic KGd(WO4)2 single crystals at 1.48 and 1.84 mm as a function of dopant concentration from 0.1% to 10% and temperature from 10 K to room temperature. We used the reciprocity method to calculate the maximum emission cross-section of 3.0310220 cm2 at 1.838 mm for the polarization parallel to the Nm principal optical direction. These results agrees well with the experimental data. Experimental decay times of the 3H4!3F4 and 3F4!3H6 transitions have been measured as a function of thulium concentration.

ÄLYKKÄIDEN PALVELUJEN JA YHTEYSPALVELIMEN TOTEUTUS H.323-VIESTINTÄVERKKOON

Soneran IP-viestintäverkko on monipuolisia viestintäpalveluita asiakkaille tarjoava palvelualusta. Palveluihin kuuluvat ITU-T:n H.323-suosituksen mukaiset ääni- ja videopuhelut. Työssä toteutettiin viestintäverkkoon kokonaisuus, joka tarjoaa verkon käyttäjille puheluiden kytkennän ja reitityksen sekä useita älykkäitä palveluita. Kokonaisuus koostuu kahdesta komponentista. Puheluiden kytkemisen ja reitityksen sekä signaloinnin hoitaa H.323-suosituksen mukainen yhteyspalvelin Sonera Gatekeeper. Palvelujen toteuttamiseen tarvittavat tiedot säilytetään LDAP-hakemistossa. Työssä esitellään yleisimpiä suosituksia, joita käytetään äänen, videokuvan ja muun median siirtämiseen tietoverkoissa. Tarkimmin käsitellään H.323-suositusta ja muita työssä käytettyjä suosituksia. Lisäksi tarkastellaan työssä hyödynnettyjä ohjelmointirajapintoja ja vertaillaan toteutettua IP-pohjaista älykkäiden palvelujen toteutustapaa tavallisen puhelinverkon asiakkaille vastaavia palveluita tarjoavaan älyverkkoon. Lopuksi esitellään toteutettujen ohjelmistojen rakennetta.

Prevalência de alterações uterinas e tubárias na histerossalpingografia em mulheres inférteis: estudo de 48 casos

A histerossalpingografia é um exame realizado para avaliação da anatomia uterina e da permeabilidade tubária, característica esta que torna a pesquisa de causa de infertilidade primária ou secundária sua principal indicação. Este trabalho se propôs a estudar a prevalência de alterações na histerossalpingografia em pacientes com infertilidade. Para tal, foram alocadas todas as pacientes que se submeteram ao exame, num período de quatro meses. Entre as 48 pacientes estudadas, 36 apresentavam infertilidade primária e 12, infertilidade secundária. As pacientes com infertilidade primária apresentaram maior índice de malformações uterinas, enquanto as pacientes com infertilidade secundária apresentaram obstrução tubária como alteração mais freqüente. Não ocorreu nenhuma intercorrência significativa durante a realização dos exames. O trabalho permite afirmar que este exame é muito útil na pesquisa de infertilidade, uma vez que, freqüentemente, diagnostica alterações importantes, sendo um exame barato e de raras complicações.

Whole-body MRI: comprehensive evaluation on a 48-channel 3T MRI system in less than 40 minutes. Preliminary results

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate a comprehensive MRI protocol that investigates for cancer, vascular disease, and degenerative/inflammatory disease from the head to the pelvis in less than 40 minutes on a new generation 48-channel 3T system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: All MR studies were performed on a 48-channel 3T MR scanner. A 20-channel head/neck coil, two 18-channel body arrays, and a 32-channel spine array were employed. A total of 4 healthy individuals were studied. The designed protocol included a combination of single-shot T2-weighted sequences, T1-weighted 3D gradient-echo pre- and post-gadolinium. All images were retrospectively evaluated by two radiologists independently for overall image quality. RESULTS: The image quality for cancer was rated as excellent in the liver, pancreas, kidneys, lungs, pelvic organs, and brain, and rated as fair in the colon and breast. For vascular diseases ratings were excellent in the aorta, major branch vessel origins, inferior vena cava, portal and hepatic veins, rated as good in pulmonary arteries, and as poor in the coronary arteries. For degenerative/inflammatory diseases ratings were excellent in the brain, liver and pancreas. The inter-observer agreement was excellent. CONCLUSION: A comprehensive and time efficient screening for important categories of disease processes may be achieved with high quality imaging in a new generation 48-channel 3T system.
