Metagentiana striata is an alpine annual herbaceous plant endemic to the east of the Qinghai-Tibet (Q-T) Plateau and adjacent areas. The phylogeography of M. striata was studied by sequencing the chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) trnS-trnG intergenic spacer. Ten haplotypes were identified from an investigation of 232 individuals of M. striata from 14 populations covering the entire geographical range of this species. The level of differentiation amongst populations was very high (G(ST) = 0.746; N-ST = 0.774) and a significant phylogeographical structure was observed (P < 0.05). An analysis of molecular variance found a high variation amongst populations (76%), with F-ST = 0.762 (highly significant, P < 0.001), indicating that little gene flow occurred amongst the different regions; this was explained by the isolation of populations by high mountains along the Q-T Plateau and adjacent areas (N-m = 0.156). Only one ancestral haplotype (A) was common and widespread throughout the distributional range of M. striata. The populations of the Hengduan Mountains region of the south-eastern Q-T Plateau showed high diversity and uniqueness of haplotypes. It is suggested that this region was the potential refugium of M. striata during the Quaternary glaciation, and that interglacial and postglacial range expansion occurred from this refugium. This scenario was in good agreement with the results of nested clade analysis, which inferred that the current spatial distribution of cpDNA haplotypes and populations resulted from range expansion, together with past allopatric fragmentation events. This thesis mainly concentrates on the geochronology, prtrology, elemental geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopic geochemistry of the volcanic rocks in north Da’Hinggan Mountain. By analyzing the data obtained in this study and data from other people, this thesis explored the age distribution, petrology and mineralogy and geochemistry characteristics of the volcanic rocks in north Da’Hinggan Mountain. Furthermore, this thesis speculated upon the source characteristics of these volcanic rocks and their implications for the tectonic evolution and crust accretion. According to the twenty Ar-Ar ages, four zircon U-Pb SHRIMP ages and two Zircon U-Pb LA-ICP-MS ages, the duration of the eruption of the Late Mesozoic volcanic rocks in north Da’Hing Mountain was about 160Ma-106Ma. Most of these volcanic rocks belong to early Cretaceous and the late Jurassic volcanic rocks are only restricted in Manzhouli. The bulk of the late Mesozoic volcanic rocks are high-K calc-alkaline rocks. Only a small portion of these volcanic rocks are shoshonites. These rocks are mainly intermediate or acid and the basic rocks usually have higher alkaline contents. Rock types are very complex in this region. These volcanic rocks have a large TiO2 variation and the Al2O3 and alkaline contents are high. From the point of mineralogy, the plagioclases in these volcanic rocks are oligoclases, andesines and labradorites, and the labradorites are more common. Most pyroxenes in these volcanic rocks are augites which belong to clinopyroxene. The source of the Late Mesozoic volcanic rocks was an enriched lithospheric mantle. When the magma en route to the surface it was contaminated by crust material slightly and had some fractional crystallization. These rocks which mainly belong to high-K calc-alkaline series were one of the results of postorogenic tectonic-magmatic activities. The upwelling in late Mesozoic supplied heat to melt the enriched lithospheric mantle which was resulted from the subduction of paleo-Asian Ocean and/or Mengol-Okhotsk ocean. These late Mesozoic volcanic rocks are also important to the upper crustal accretion of north Da’Hinggan Mountain since the late Mesozoic. These volcanics and the contemporary emplacement of granites and the basaltic underplating in combination fulfilled the crust accretion history in north Da’Hinggan Mountain in Late Mesozoic.

红原泥炭氧同位素指示的近6000年温度变化,其总体趋势与金川温度变化,敦德温度变化一致,与格陵兰冰芯记录的温度变化趋势也相似。具体的气候事件具有明显的全球一致性。最近6000年温度变化存在两个明显的“转折点”,既4000a BP左右气温由低温变为高温,1500a BP左右气温由高温变为低温。功率谱分析发现红原泥炭氧同位素序列包含1220~1087a、752a、444a、325a、213a、127-123a、88a、79a这样的周期。分析表明红原地区气候驱动因子可能主要是太阳活动,同时海洋活动信号也通过海气

Learning an input-output mapping from a set of examples can be regarded as synthesizing an approximation of a multi-dimensional function. From this point of view, this form of learning is closely related to regularization theory. In this note, we extend the theory by introducing ways of dealing with two aspects of learning: learning in the presence of unreliable examples and learning from positive and negative examples. The first extension corresponds to dealing with outliers among the sparse data. The second one corresponds to exploiting information about points or regions in the range of the function that are forbidden.

Numerical analysis of fully developed laminar slip flow and heat transfer in trapezoidal micro-channels has been studied with uniform wall heat flux boundary conditions. Through coordinate transformation, the governing equations are transformed from physical plane to computational domain, and the resulting equations are solved by a finite-difference scheme. The influences of velocity slip and temperature jump on friction coefficient and Nusselt number are investigated in detail. The calculation also shows that the aspect ratio and base angle have significant effect on flow and heat transfer in trapezoidal micro-channel. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a framework for robust optimization that relaxes the standard notion of robustness by allowing the decision maker to vary the protection level in a smooth way across the uncertainty set. We apply our approach to the problem of maximizing the expected value of a payoff function when the underlying distribution is ambiguous and therefore robustness is relevant. Our primary objective is to develop this framework and relate it to the standard notion of robustness, which deals with only a single guarantee across one uncertainty set. First, we show that our approach connects closely to the theory of convex risk measures. We show that the complexity of this approach is equivalent to that of solving a small number of standard robust problems. We then investigate the conservatism benefits and downside probability guarantees implied by this approach and compare to the standard robust approach. Finally, we illustrate theme thodology on an asset allocation example consisting of historical market data over a 25-year investment horizon and find in every case we explore that relaxing standard robustness with soft robustness yields a seemingly favorable risk-return trade-off: each case results in a higher out-of-sample expected return for a relatively minor degradation of out-of-sample downside performance. © 2010 INFORMS.

The curing of a thermosetting polymer materials utilized on micro-electronics packaging applications can be performed using microwave systems. The use of microwave energy enables the cure process to be completed more rapidly than with alternative approaches due to the ability to heat volumetrically. Furthermore, advanced dual-section microwave systems enable curing of individual components on a chip-on-board assembly. The dielectric properties of thermosetting polymer materials, commonly used in microelectronics packaging applications, vary significantly with temperature and degree of cure. The heating rate within a material subjected to an electric field is primarily dependant on the dielectric loss properties of the material itself. This article examines the variation in dielectric properties of a commercially available encapsulant paste with frequency and temperature and the resulting influence on the cure process. The 'FAMOBS' dual section microwave system and its application to microelectronics manufacture are described. The measurement of the dielectric properties of 'Henkel EO1080' encapsulant paste uses a commercially available 'dielectric probe kit' and is described in this paper. The FAMOBS heating system is used to encapsulate a small op-amp chip. A numerical model formulated to assess the cure process in thermosetting polymer materials under microwave heating is outlined. Numerical results showing that the microwave processing systems is capable of rapidly and evenly curing thermosetting polymer materials are presented.
