It is known that gymnastics and sports, for the most part, were made by men for men, and its practice was almost exclusively for males, especially until the First World War. Vestiges of this strong male influence in sports still remain to this day, especially in leadership positions. It is clear that most sports, both male and female, are mostly coached by men. Thus, this study aimed to examine, through quantiqualitative research, the number of women and men who lead male and female volleyball, basketball and soccer elite teams, participating in the most important national championships, and the number of men and women graduated in physical education courses in Brazil in order to check a possible relationship between the low number of women working as a coach and the percentage of women graduated in physical education. For the acquisition of data, Internet searches were made on the sites of confederations, leagues and sports leagues selected for the study, and on the site of the National Institute of Educational Studies Anísio Teixeira (INEP). It was identified that the total number of graduates from 1995 to 2008 was 192,707, with 99,869 men and 92,838 women, showing a balance between these numbers, which did not happen with the numbers of male and female coaches. The data indicated that no women worked as a coach in male and female volleyball teams in the seasons 2006 to 2010, no woman worked as a coach in the male basketball teams in the seasons from 2000 to 2010, and only an average of 1.67 women led female basketball teams in the seasons 1998 to 2010, and no woman has ever worked as a coach for male soccer teams, while only an average of 2.67 women acted as a coach of female soccer teams. The difference between the number of men and women graduated in physical education is small and does not justify the low ...(Complete abstract click electronic access below)

The final paper “Woman and power: perceptions of women leaders in organizations” is a study based on the perception of the female rise to leaderships positions. Through the history and social relations, this study aims to understand how this process happens in fact. This topic has been part of studies over the last 200 years and still is far away from being over. In order to enrich this paper, a historical investigation was conducted focusing on woman occupying public and private spaces. To improve this experience, Michel Foucault and his power theories were used to understand how this process happens. Complementing this study, Margarida Kunsch, the PR theoretician, investigated the power relations trough the organization environment, based on the influence caused by Organization Communication. To complement this study, 9 women in leadership positions shared their experience in leadership positions and the main characteristic of women in this position. Throughout the study, it was noticed that the social-historical interventions affect not only the professional life, but also, the personal life. Concluding this study, it was noticed that there is no recipe to be a woman in a leadership position, but, each interviewed constructed their own way, living the deconstructions process of the social accepted gender

The article represents a theoretical and methodological approach to the analysis of organizational dynamics of political parties today, based on a study of the Party of Brazilian Social Democracy (PSDB) in the State of Sao Pãulo (period between 1988 to 2006). It is hypothesized that the structure and the institutional rules of a particular party, or even their election results, are insufficient to explain the inner workings, such as the role of party organization in the electoral system. An approach that articulates the relationship patterns, election results and posts held in the party, identified the factors that explain the political capital that circulated within the party and ensured its organizational dynamics over the period analyzed.

Anísio Teixeira: notes on democratization and quality of education. The work of Anísio Teixeira is the support of this study in a discussion of the democratization process in Brazilian education. We raised elements to contrast the idea of access democratization as a trigger to the process of decrease in quality of the public education offered in the country. The discussion initially presented the journey of this renowned Brazilian educator. Subsequently, we presented data on the early 20th century public education, period when he leads important positions in public education. We conclude the study by presenting the “School-park” proposed as he idealized the organization of elementary school.

The course was proposed to equip managers to deal with issues related to health and safety at work in daily labor. Six hundred managers of all UNESP Institutes participated in the course. The meetings were logistically designed respecting the proximity of the participants’ Institutes. The methodology adopted was based on qualitative techniques such as group discussion, role-plays, analysis of film, reading and discussing texts, together with the preparation of a proposal for health promotion by the participants. As a result it was considered that the course offered a convenient and timely opportunity to reflect on and discuss the theme of health and safety at UNESP, as well as to make leaders and managers effective agents to implement programs of disease prevention and health promotion at work.

We chose to do a quick presentation about the authenticity of hagiographies of Venantius Fortunatus. Then began a debate on the concept of holiness and medieval saint. After this discussion, which this author worked with two main models of holiness: the acetic-monastic and episcopal. The first model is present in hagiographies devoted to Patern and Radegund. In these descriptions abound this lifestyle choice: the pursuit of withdrawal from the world, the martyrdom, miracles and temptations related to this kind of choice. However, their hagiographies have, in most cases, the model of episcopal sanctity. In this model, the sanctity appears as a condition for becoming a bishop, and more, the miraculous virtue is clearly a feature of such positions.
