One of the key aspects in 3D-image registration is the computation of the joint intensity histogram. We propose a new approach to compute this histogram using uniformly distributed random lines to sample stochastically the overlapping volume between two 3D-images. The intensity values are captured from the lines at evenly spaced positions, taking an initial random offset different for each line. This method provides us with an accurate, robust and fast mutual information-based registration. The interpolation effects are drastically reduced, due to the stochastic nature of the line generation, and the alignment process is also accelerated. The results obtained show a better performance of the introduced method than the classic computation of the joint histogram

Thanks to decades of research, gait analysis has become an efficient tool. However, mainly due to the price of the motion capture systems, standard gait laboratories have the capability to measure only a few consecutive steps of ground walking. Recently, wearable systems were proposed to measure human motion without volume limitation. Although accurate, these systems are incompatible with most of existing calibration procedures and several years of research will be necessary for their validation. A new approach consisting of using a stationary system with a small capture volume for the calibration procedure and then to measure gait using a wearable system could be very advantageous. It could benefit from the knowledge related to stationary systems, allow long distance monitoring and provide new descriptive parameters. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the potential of this approach. Thus, a combined system was proposed to measure the 3D lower body joints angles and segmental angular velocities. It was then assessed in terms of reliability towards the calibration procedure, repeatability and concurrent validity. The dispersion of the joint angles across calibrations was comparable to those of stationary systems and good reliability was obtained for the angular velocities. The repeatability results confirmed that mean cycle kinematics of long distance walks could be used for subjects' comparison and pointed out an interest for the variability between cycles. Finally, kinematics differences were observed between participants with different ankle conditions. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the potential of a mixed approach for human movement analysis.

Autoimmune side effects are frequent in patients with cancer treated with immune checkpoint-targeting antibodies, but are rare with cancer vaccines. Here, we present a case report on a patient with metastatic melanoma who developed pulmonary sarcoid-like granulomatosis following repetitive vaccinations with peptides and CpG. Despite multiple metastases, including one lesion in the brain, the patient is alive and well more than 13 years after the diagnosis of metastatic disease. The strongly activated tumor-specific CD8(+) T cells showed robust long-term memory and effector functions. It is possible that long-term survival and adverse autoimmune events may become more common for vaccines inducing robust anticancer immune responses as were present in this patient. Background: In FL, Rituximab as a single agent delivered in the standard schedule (4 times weekly) may induce a response rate of 50−70% with an event-free survival (EFS) of 1−3 years according to patients' characteristics. Prolonged Rituximab exposure seems to improve EFS at least in responding patients and to increase the rate of longterm responders. Here we report long-term results of a clinical trial comparing single agent Rituximab delivered in the standard schedule versus prolonged exposure, with focus on the proportion of long-term responders and their characteristics. Material and Methods: Between 1998 and 2002, chemotherapy na¨ıve (n = 64) or pre-treated (n = 138) FL patients received Rituximab in the standard schedule. Those responding or with stable disease were randomized to no further treatment (observation, n = 78) or 4 additional doses of Rituximab given at 2-month intervals (prolonged exposure, n = 73). EFS was calculated from the first dose of standard schedule until progression, relapse, second tumor or death. Results: At a median follow up of 9.4 years and with all living patients having been followed for at least 5 years, the median EFS is 13 months for the observation and 24 months for the prolonged exposure arm (p = 0.0007). In the observation arm 13% had no event at 5-years and only 4% at 8 years, while in the prolonged exposure arm it was 27% at 5 years and remained 21% at 8 years. The only significant prognostic factor for EFS in a multivariate Cox regression was the prolonged Rituximab schedule (hazard ratio 0.58, CI 0.39−0.86, p = 0.007), whereas being chemotherapy na¨ıve, presenting with stage
