Se cita por primera vez el hallazgo de un coral colonia en Montjuich, Thegioastrea multisepta (SISMONDA) y se estudian las posibles causas de la rareza de este tipo de organismos en este yacimiento

Sobre la edad oligocénica inferior del yacimiento de Santpedor (Cuenca del Ebro, provincia de Barcelona)

Un muestreo intensivo del clasico yacimiento de mamíferos fósles de Santpedor ha dado como resultado la presencia de Theridomys aff. aquatilis, Gliravus aff. priscus, Eucricetodon atavus y Pseudoltinomys gaillardi. Esta asociacin permite atribuir 1os niveles del yacimiento al Oligoceno inferior mas bajo (nivel de Hoogbutsel)

Presencia de Caliche Fósil en el Buntsandstein del valle del Congost (Provincia de Barcelona)

Se señala la presencia de caliche fósil en el Triásico inferior y el cual es interpretado como caliche inicialmente maduro producido en cortas exposiciones subáreas en condiciones semiáridas. Se deducen das tipos de ambientes de acuerdo con los dos modelos $e secuencias litolgicas en las que se encuentra el caliche: partes distale de glacis de acumulación y 'playas', y diques y charcas en una llanura aluvial meandriforme.

Domain growth in binary mixtures at low temperatures

We have studied domain growth during spinodal decomposition at low temperatures. We have performed a numerical integration of the deterministic time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation with a variable, concentration-dependent diffusion coefficient. The form of the pair-correlation function and the structure function are independent of temperature but the dynamics is slower at low temperature. A crossover between interfacial diffusion and bulk diffusion mechanisms is observed in the behavior of the characteristic domain size. This effect is explained theoretically in terms of an equation of motion for the interface.

High-pressure ultrasonic study of vibrational anharmonicity in bcc Cu-Al-Be alloys

To quantify the vibrational anharmonicity of the long-wavelength acoustic modes of bcc Cu74.1Al23.1Be2.8 near its martensitic transition temperature Ms (261 K), the hydrostatic pressure derivatives (¿CIJ/¿P)P=0 of the elastic stiffness moduli have been measured. The Grüneisen parameters at 268 K (just above Ms), especially of longitudinal modes, which become smaller than those of the shear modes, are quite different from those at 295 K: the anharmonicity changes markedly in the vicinity of the transition. Similar trends are noted for Cu66.5Al12.7Zn20.8. Experimental data near Ms are used to estimate cubic invariants in the strain order parameters in a Landau formalism.

Effective one-dimensional square well for two-dimensional quantum wires

The symmetrical two-dimensional quantum wire with two straight leads joined to an arbitrarily shaped interior cavity is studied with emphasis on the single-mode approximation. It is found that for both transmission and bound-state problems the solution is equivalent to that for an energy-dependent one-dimensional square well. Quantum wires with a circular bend, and with single and double right-angle bends, are examined as examples. We also indicate a possible way to detect bound states in a double bend based on the experimental setup of Wu et al.
